Here is a detailed article from this mornings newspaper:
Yard dig finds what may be remains
....An excavator used a backhoe to puncture a hole in the top of the structure, allowing workers to climb in. Inside, they focused on a small area of soil in an otherwise concrete floor and began digging up small amounts of dirt................Kraemer has spent six years following leads across the country, even excavating graves, in the search for her daughter.
Kraemer said she asked the police in 2004 to excavate the bunker. After being told there wasn't enough probable cause, she decided to do it herself. She said she expects the excavation work will continue Wednesday.
"Becky deserves to be found. Every missing person deserves to be found," said Kraemer, who at one point stood weeping with her arms locked around the neck of Marzo's ex-husband, who came down to the site.
"Every mother deserves to bury their child," she said, "and I have not been given that opportunity."..........
Mike McGarry, who has used his ground-penetrating radar to uncover lost graves for cemeteries, said the darkened soil appeared to be under a quarter-inch layer of lime, which can be used to speed decomposition.
