MISSING JUVENILE

At approximately 6:47 PM on Thursday, August 8, 2024 The Town of Rome Police Department received a complaint of a possible missing male juvenile by the name of Christopher Smits Jr.

Chris purchased items relating to camping and told multiple people he was going to find a place to go camping.

Chris was seen at approximately 3:55 PM at Sherwood Lodge in the Town of Rome and possibly last seen at Walmart in Wisconsin Rapids at about 12:15 AM.

Chris was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, Dark colored T-shirt, pants, gray crocs with a gold strap, and he was riding a black bicycle.

ADAMS COUNTY, Wis. (WSAW) - The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a teenager they say is a runaway. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Christopher M. Smits Jr., 14, was last seen Thursday at around 3:55 p.m. at Sherwood Lodge in the Town of Rome.


Rome to Wisconsin Rapids is about 14 miles.

I wonder if the discrepancy between who his parents are and his legal guardian. I can see what the mom commented on FB, but I wonder if they took him to a legal guardian (foster parent, family member, etc), but mom is upset he didn’t come home with her. Just trying to make sense of what might have happened.
