According to FamilySearch, Jack D. Greger was living in, or a public record was created for him in, Parker, La Paz County, Arizona, on 13 July 2001. Exact same birthdate. Odds are pretty good it's the same person.

Radaris even shows a relationship to Zona Greger, age 90 and it shows he lived in Parker, AZ. That's his mother.

did you report this or should I send it to namus?

I haven’t heard back either. Anyone else want to try? It really does seem that jack is still alive and in Arizona.

Went directly to the sheriff assigned the case in Burnett county via email. I’ll keep you up to date, but it really seems to be him.

It's totally possible that he's still alive. But my experience with sites like Family Search or Radaris is they often run automatically on publicly available information, conflate similar profiles, and fail to cross-reference births and deaths.

For example, I show up as both alive and deceased on one of those sites. My work, school, and even full name are all correct. However, one profile uses outdated info, and the second profile has confused me with my dad who is deceased.

For that reason, I don't rely too much on the information presented on these websites.

Ah okay. Since @Quoththeraven mentioned Family Search and Radaris, I assumed those are the sources you were referring to. I didn't realize you had used Ancestry and phone records.
Ancestry.com's family tree on Zona Ruth Armstrong, Jack's mother, lists her under her maiden name, Armstrong, not Greger. 1930–1999 Birth 14 JAN 1930 • Wells Fariba, Minnesota Death 14 AUG 1999 • Burnett, Wisconsin, USA.

It also lists her daughter, Debra Greger. Debra is Jack's sister. The father, Clarence, is listed as 'private'. Her son's name, Jack, does not appear on her family's genealogy tree.

She put an ad in the paper in 1980 in the Minneapolis Star and in the Parker, AZ newspaper for a pharmacist, so we can assume she lived there at one time. (Source: Newspapers.com & Ancestry.com)

We can only speculate as to why her son isn't listed on her family tree. What I find odd is that he isn't listed in the family tree and you can't find Jack Greger in WCCA or WDOC online public records. LE is keeping those records from public view for some unknown reason. So much for livng in an open records state. Jack did walk away from a halfway house, which is a halfway point between prison and civilian life. (A halfway house is a residential facility that provides a supportive environment for people who are transitioning out of incarceration, addiction treatment, or mental health treatment) So maybe it is possible he was never in prison, but was receiving treatment?

I can't find an online obit for Zona or Clarence, Jack's parents.

Just fyi I sent this case info to the sheriff and have not heard back. I’ll stay on it.

I heard back! The sheriff said he’s forwarding to the investigating department, Barron county. He said he only assisted. I know it’s not much but I love any response. I should probably let NamUs know not to list sheriff wiltrout, but Barron county.

His mother resided in Siren, Burnett County, WI, which is where I think I think the person doing her genealogy mixed up the Town of Burnett in Dodge County with Burnett County. SSDI also lists Zona's last residence as Siren, Burnett County, Wisconsin.

Her son Jack probably also resided in Siren, Burnett County, WI in 1990, which might be why NAMUS lists Chief Deputy Wiltrout, Burnett County as the NAMUS case owner even though Jack went missing in the adjoining Barron County, WI.

Yeah. I would update NamUs with the proper contact, but they really don’t exist anymore since the staff cuts. No answers to anything.

I noticed this case was updated in NamUs 10/14 and I sent the email 10/8, so looks like they are looking into this angle. Such an old case,it’d be fantastic for it to be solved happily.
