CNN.com - Transcripts
ANGELINE HARTMANN, MEDIA DIRECTOR, NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING AND EXPLOITED CHILDREN: That`s right, Ashleigh. We have what`s called "Team Adam." That`s our on-site rapid response team. This is a team made up of retired law enforcement professionals from federal, state with local backgrounds from all over the country.

What we do is we put these volunteers together. We make sure they have the right expertise and the right -- we help train them. We make sure that they get out to this critical scene when it`s necessary. So, what happens in a case like this is a lot of times law enforcement agencies, you know, time is of the essence, right? It`s critical in a case like this. And so if they don`t have the experience with a critical missing child case, they don`t always think three steps ahead, ten steps ahead.

Because the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children knows all of the steps involved, we we don`t have to think about it. And so we get our "Team Adam" consultant on the ground right away and help put things into place. So what we do is we advise and we assist and we`re there for support of law enforcement that`s involved on the ground there.

Press Release

Oct 19, 2018

Today, October 19th is the fifth day that Jayme Closs has been missing. We would like to thank the community for their support and prayers as we investigate the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

Barron County continues to with our local, state and federal partners. We have received over 1000 tips and want information to continue to come in using the tip line (1-855-744-3879). We also have added an email address, jaymetips@co.barron.wi.us which will accept any photos or videos related to possible sightings.

We have conducted hundreds of interviews and are aggressively following up on tips the public has provided.

We are reaching out to share with you some of the information we are looking for:

People may act differently shortly after committing a violent act. You may have observed such behaviors and not realized it at the time. We are asking you to think back to earlier this week and let us know if you’ve noticed any of the following:

Changes in Routine:
o They will miss work. The absence will be sudden and unplanned. They may either be a “no show” or they may offer a reasonable excuse such as illness, death in the family, car trouble, etc.
o They may miss scheduled appointments. These appointments or commitments may include medical appointments, a regular responsibility to a friend or family member, like caring for an elderly relative.
o They may suddenly leave town, either with no explanation or with some reasonable explanation.
Changes in Normal Behavior:
o There may be changes in their usual consumption of alcohol and/or drugs. This could be an increase or a decrease in drinking or drug use.
o They may make a change in how they look or make it difficult to identify them, such as changing the look of their vehicle or selling or getting rid of their vehicle.
o They may pay too much or too little attention to the progress of this investigation that seems out of the ordinary. They may try to find new information about the investigation or, they may quickly turn off the news and social media or try to redirect conversations about the victims or their families.
o They may be anxious, nervous, or irritable. They may withdraw from normal activities.

In addition, we are seeking information about the victims, Denise and James Closs. We are hopeful to learn more about the Closs family to help bring Jayme home. If you spent time with members of the Closs family recently, or if you have ever had a misunderstanding with members of the Closs family, or know someone who has, please call the tipline.

A dispatch log that the Barron County Sheriff's Department released Friday offers a few new details from that night:
• The dispatcher "could hear a lot of yelling" during the 911 call.
• The call was "pinged" to the Closs' home. When the dispatcher called the number back, a voicemail greeting indicated that the phone belonged to Denise Closs.
• A responding officer found "the door has been kicked in."
• The family dog was there when deputies arrived, and was eventually taken to a relative's home.

Hundreds of tips pour in for missing Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs
Police in Wisconsin have received over 800 tips over the past few days in connection to missing Jayme Closs, who vanished from her home the same day her parents were found shot to death. A department spokeswoman declined to say if those had yielded any credible information.

Volunteers searched a 20 mile radiance around Jayme's home on Thursday, but did not recover any evidence.

Sheriff gets over 1,000 tips as search for abducted teen continues
"We are hopeful to learn more about the Closs family to help bring Jayme home," Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said in a statement Friday. "If you spent time with members of the Closs family recently, or if you have ever had a misunderstanding with members of the Closs family, or know someone who has, please call the tipline."

Fitzgerald said the public should be mindful of someone who missed work suddenly; missed scheduled appointments; suddenly left town without a reasonable explanation; changed appearance; is acting anxious, nervous, or irritable; or is paying an unusual amount of interest -- either too much or too little -- to the progress of the Closs investigation.

Superior, Douglas County Authorities Help Search for Jayme Closs
About 10 people from the Superior Police Department and Douglas County Sheriff's Office went down to Barron County to help in the search and investigation. Superior Detective Chris Moe said the effort is almost indescribable. "It was huge. That was probably the biggest effort that I've seen or been involved in," Moe said Friday.

When Moe and the others arrived, they were split into groups and given an assignment. His was to locate sex offenders in the area and find out where they were around the time of the incident. Moe said there were hourly briefings, but lead investigators were pretty tight-lipped about what was going on.

"They were kind of stumped and ... real limited with what they told us," he said.

Mother of missing Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs was 'family angel'; 'no clue' who killed couple, relative says
A Closs family member who wishes to remain unidentified tells Fox News exclusively that relatives are shocked by the mysterious double murder of 56-year-old James Closs and 46-year-old Denise Closs and don’t have a clue why the Wisconsin couple were shot dead in their home.

“It’s a shock to the system,” the family member tells Fox News.

The relative says Denise Closs was very close to her relatives and has been described as “the family’s angel ... she would take vacation days if you needed help.”

The family member acknowledges the rampant rumors surrounding the double murder and 13-year-old Jayme's disappearance. Some people online and also folks in the Closses’ hometown of Barron, Wisconsin, have speculated that Jayme might have had a boyfriend or met someone who took advantage of her and killed her parents. To date, no member of law enforcement or anyone from the Closs family has indicated that Jayme had some type of boyfriend.

Missing 13-Year-Old and Her Slain Mom Were 'Inseparable,' Says Family Friend: 'Two Peas in a Pod'
Both Jayme and 46-year-old Denise Closs were described as quiet, kind, religious and giving, an example of how a loving mom raised her daughter with her own good values. “They were just two peas in a pod,” family friend MS tells PEOPLE, describing the pair as “almost inseparable” and saying Denise “was pretty quiet and shy like Jayme — they were similar.”

The apple didn’t fall far from the tree, according to Denise’s cousin JA, who said that Denise and her sisters became very active in cancer charity work after their mother died from the disease. “Denise was the kind of person that with all of these things that happened, her reaction was to do something about it. … She was always really diligent trying to help Jayme out doing fundraisers for school and things like that,” JA recalls.

Adds MS, “The family would help anyone, anytime, with anything they needed.”
She describes Denise as a mother whose involvement showed how much she cared about her daughter: “A lot of parents will drop [their] kids off at activities when they get to be a little older. But Denise was always there. If Jayme went to the roller rink with friends, Denise was there.”

This case haunts me... all we really have are a lot of speculations, and some good inferences we have put out there. Until LE are able to release more info. I was so happy to read all of the POSITIVE statements from relatives who knew these victims. It enables us to understand more who the victims were as people. Kudos to the kind contribution. I hope for all that this case is solved soon and I feel that it will.
