It is common sense that during the 88 day period, if they knew about the Taurus , they should have put it out there. That is what you do. Who cares about the percentages of what it can and cannot lead them to. They had nothing. Begging the public for help, tree lighting ceremonies, that one tip, Thanksgiving and Christmas without Jayme, yet you had a car that you remember now so well and you don't ask the public for help?

One more question for those of you who don't think an apb immediately after finding double homicide. If it was your daughter or niece in that trunk and she went on to whatever hell she lived with for 88 days and the perp was the only car that LE seen in the area, not 10, 20 or 100, the ONLY car, you wouldn't question why they didn't mention it or look for it that night?

You're right, of course. I don't know why they didn't. I'm trying to make excuses and think deep thoughts about reasons that only law enforcement can know, but it does seem like a major oversight. Thank the gods she's OK, or this would be a very different conversation.

It is disturbing to think that if things had ended differently, we likely would never be privy to the officer's ability to provide a vehicle description, which of course, as we now know, was not shared nor followed up on. I doubt they would ever disclose that fact if JC or/and others had also ended up murdered. How often do crimes get messed up from errors in judgment via LE, which we never know about? Something to think about, isn't it? Troublesome thoughts!

Court hearing today for man charged with kidnapping Jayme Closs and killing her parents
The man charged with kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme Closs and killing her parents is scheduled to appear in a northwestern Wisconsin courtroom late Wednesday morning.

Jake T. Patterson, 21, remains jailed in Barron County in lieu of $5 million
bail on two counts of first-degree murder, and charges of kidnapping and armed burglary after allegedly targeting the Closs family home just outside the city of Barron on a late night in mid-October.

Wednesday’s hearing, scheduled to start at 11 a.m., is listed on the court calendar as a preliminary hearing, where prosecutors will attempt to establish grounds for a trial. Patterson, who is expected to be in the courtroom during the hearing, has yet to enter a plea to the charges. The criminal complaint filed against him says he confessed to the killings and kidnapping under questioning by a Barron County sheriff’s detective. What has yet to surface is a motive for the crimes.

I have a question with reference to the photo below. It looks so cold and snowy outside but I do have to ask why the outbuilding to the left of the photo is devoid of any snow on the left sloping roof of the outbuilding. To me, it says it is flipping warm in there compared to everywhere else. What am I getting at? I really don’t know but as sure as hell that outbuilding is losing enough heat out the roof enough to make the Snow not even be there. Just curious nothing more.

Good sleuthing! It looks like the heat has risen up because there is no insulation on just that side. If it was the whole entire attic, why would it not be both sides? Interesting find!

This may be an unpopular opinion, and that's all it is- my opinion-- but I think it's plausible that officer Fick did not actually see a car, or if he did, the ONLY thing he remembered seeing was ONLY a car, and no other details- and once JP was arrested and it came out that he had a maroon Taurus, LE added the more specific details to the criminal complaint (he saw a car vs. he seen a maroon Taurus with silver trim).... (almost to tie the whole thing together and present it with a bow) additionally, I also believe that JP would not have shot at officers if he was pulled over, especially considering how easily he surrendered himself (yes, I realize that he just shot two people)- HOWEVER, I think that that detail was added to the criminal complaint so that the public would give officers a 'pass' for not pulling him over- JP might have said he would shoot officers, but it might have been coaxed out of him (think- "what would you have done if you got pulled over?" would you have shot if the officers stopped you?" "yes, i would have shot anyone that tried stopping me") and then that gets added to the CC.) Just another perspective to think about- likely, I am wrong, but I thought y'all might like to ponder my crazy conspiracy (also, I apologize if this makes zero sense, I am half asleep)
I truly don't believe it was a LE conspiracy. JMO

The Barron County judge has a regular court calendar today. I've seen a couple double-takes from defendants, attorneys and others who weren't expecting a bunch of reporters in the courtroom. #jaymecloss

Don't they write up incident reports immediately after ? That would give us the definitive answer IMO.
I'm not LE so I can't answer that question. I can only guess that after this officer arrived on scene of a horrific double murder <with the scene of Denise especially YKWIM>, he might have had a traumatic response as well. Yes, they are trained LE but they are also human too.

The Taurus yielded to him and headed straight into the direction of oncoming LE, not away from them as would be expected of a perp fleeing the scene. It just did not click in his mind. Not good, but an honest mistake.

WS is LE and victim friendly, and I don't believe anyone in this case did anything with malice or intentional neglect. JMO

A timeline of events in the Jayme Closs disappearance case
Notable events in the disappearance and discovery of Jayme Closs, a 13-year-old Wisconsin girl who went missing after her parents were killed in the family's home. Authorities say Jayme was found alive after being held captive for three months by a man who is now charged in her kidnapping and her parents' deaths.

Oct. 15, 2018 — James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46, are found shot to death in their home in Barron, a town in western Wisconsin. Authorities issue an Amber Alert for 13-year-old Jayme Closs, and the search for her begins.

Oct. 16, 2018 — Investigators say they don't consider Jayme a suspect in her parents' deaths. Authorities also dismiss a tip placing Jayme's whereabouts in Miami as "not credible," and say they believe the girl is in danger.

Oct. 17, 2018 — Authorities announce that investigators believe Jayme was in her family's home when her parents were fatally shot.

I don’t think it’s conspiracy but without any clarification you can’t dismiss anything.

If 95 percent of cars have front plates, and u pass one without one half mile from double homicide... the idea that you’d not pursue that car is not logical...

Surely there was some communication from fink day 1/2/3 to find that car...?

Surely there’s internal communication on 2000 man search, any Taurus drivers lemme know..

As for jake saying he’s ready to die in shootout... he’s a coward.. that has only 3 shells... he’s a bad *advertiser censored* when he’s a gun holder vs a young girl...not buying tough guy talk...

In the spirit of locking away JP & throwing away the key as fast as possible, I’m thinking this tree should have been taken down. Don’t want defense to successfully claim bias & get any kind of break, even if just in delay or change of venue. MOO

Closs kidnapping, murder suspect due in court Wednesday for preliminary hearing
By: Paul Blume, FOX 9

While a trial may indeed be on the horizon, Wednesday will be just the next step in the criminal prosecution of Jake Patterson.

The 21-year-old murder and kidnapping suspect is expected in Barron County Court at 11 a.m. Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

In Wisconsin, the preliminary hearing gives prosecutors the chance to lay out their case.

It typically involves the state calling the lead investigator to the witness stand to detail the evidence and the steps law enforcement took to apprehend the defendant.

Patterson’s legal team might challenge those statements apparently made to detectives in the hours after his arrest.

“They’ve not heard it. They don’t know. They haven’t heard the Miranda warning, whether Mr. Patterson was forced or coerced into making a statement. Ultimately, the admissibility of the statement or the confession could become grounds for a constitutional challenge later in the case, but it will be admitted tomorrow,” Nelson said.

FOX 9 reached out to Barron County's Office of the Public Defender, but his team will not be commenting on the proceedings.
