I guess that UW doesn't have much of a Journalism school? (Ducking and running now...)

Altho...saw last night a millionaire from UW who created the TurboTap for a better way to serve beer. Go figure!

Seriously, I fully expected to hear SOME news by today! This case hopefully isn't headed where the others have...into the cold case bin.

I've been gone for a week...

BUT - the journalism school is nationally recognized. We also have 2 student newspapers - but they only publish about twice in the summer.

AND - the TurboTap inventor and his wife are college buddies of mine. He invented the Tap while in school - so they've been working on it at least 10 years. Nicest people you'd ever meet - and watch because they will DEFINITELY donate big time to UW if the company really grows.

I don't know if she's been discussed, but what about Becky Marie Marzo? She disappeared from Milwaukee December '03 after a night out with friends. Some of the details are different, and she's gone missing before. But she might fit the profile.

This woman's mother is convinced it was the ex-boyfriend in Becky's case. The mother has sought justice in his direction for a long time - she does not seem to think it was a stranger.

Do I understand correctly Kelly had an DUI and had lost her license? Was she attending DUI classes to get her license back? Was she performing anykind of community service to help with her fines?
I remember when my daughter went thru those classes and community service, she was thrown in with some of the worst of worst. I drove her to those classes and there were some rough people there.

This is an excellent point! In March/April Kelly would have done 14-20 days in jail - most WI counties have mandatory jail time for 2nd offense - so this is typical. She also got 20 hours community service. I don't know if that could have been done through school, or if she was in with regular criminals picking up garbage or something.

And I just want to say - I'm so upset that a resolution has not happened in this case. Students will be returning en masse in just a few weeks. This needs to get solved.

Now I'm off to check out threads on these OTHER missing WI women...

Yes, we noticed you were missing...we almost called out LE. (chuckles)

Great that you have an excellent Journalism school! (I did see an article or two on them actually.) They will have plenty to write about when they return to school this fall.

It is awesome you know Turbotap guy and his wife! I watched him in an interview and was very impressed. He mentioned how many trials and tribulations they have been through, but their end result is brilliant! Yes...he will probably be a nice guy and donate, donate, donate! I will keep my eye on him. : ) hehehe and his tap!

In our area community service can be your choice if the organization will fill out the paperwork for you.

I keep wondering why the person whos says he let her go with someone who said he knew her, hasn't given a description of that supposed friend. Why no sketch, why no description? That whole story may be BS.

I heard on the late news that a car, with a body inside, was found in a river near Green Bay. They didn't id the girl but suspect it is a woman who has been missing.

Anyone else hear this? And what do we know about the woman and how and when she went missing.

Still no news on a suspect or POI in this case?! I hope it hasn't started going cold. They need to catch this guy and soon!

I keep waiting on them to say SOMETHING! Cause of Death should be out by now. They should have something to tell the public after all this time. Are they now hoping it will just go away and people will forget about Kelly Nolan and who murdered her?! This is taking far too long and they are being too quiet. How do they expect to get more leads if they don't keep her name out there? I do not want Kelly's case to turn cold like the rest of them.

You are right! It's been an extremely long time we've been waiting for the COD.

Do you think LE could be holding that info until they have a suspect to bring in for questioning?

My fear is that they are aiming their investigation at one specific target...Cafe guy. They are going to try to fit this case around the person known to have seen her last and I believe they will run into a cold case fast this way.

The University is most likely putting heavy pressure on LE to wrap this up before the semester begins and probably why there is nothing in the media...to distance the University and Madison from her murder. It is politics.

As your research has shown, this wouldn't be the first murder case left unsolved in the vicinity of the University.

This artical is about how the internet helps to get the word out in missing persons cases. Through Facebook, MySpace and other Web sites. It refers to the last few women that have gone missing in Wisconsin.
There is a very little snip about Kelly Nolan. The only news I have seen on her in a couple of weeks! It's not much ! But here it is.

For law enforcement officials investigating the case of a missing person or homicide, the sites open a world of documented communication never seen before.
"They provide us with a lot of information, particularly about the contacts missing people have had - some of whom family members may not have known anything about," said Joel DeSpain, public information officer with the Madison Police Department, which is investigating Nolan's death.
"In all investigations there are a lot of leads that don't pan out, and that would be the case of Facebook - pursuing things that might look good at the beginning," DeSpain said. "As is the same with any lead, it's beneficial. It may add material to an investigation that we wouldn't have had in the past. It may take us to places where the investigation ought to go."
Investigators continue to check Nolan's Facebook page for leads.
"It remains something not just in the past, but something that we will still take a look at just to see if somebody pops up," DeSpain said.

UH-OH, that tells me they are clueless. If they are depending on Facebook to provide leads...they really couldn't have much. <sigh>

Thanks for posting! At least, it is something!

Where's whisky with all the inside info??

Madison PD doesn't have . Students return to school in a month.

IMHO, I think the very powerful Madison Tavern League needs to start leaning on the police to solve the crime.

Not sure what happened to Whisky!

No, they don't. It is quite disturbing, too, Ang! I honestly figured they would do a "rush to judgement" on the Cafe guy and have it wrapped up with a bow on it before next month. Maybe not tho.

Madison Tavern League, huh?! Perhaps you need to give 'em a call!
