01:49 PM Prosecuting Assistant Attorney General Annie Jay and District Attorney Louis Molepske Jr appeared for the State of Wisconsin. Defendant Jason Sypher in court with Attorney (Atty) Gary J. Kryshak. Defendant Jason Sypher in custody. Parties state their appearances. Atty Jay informs the court that the victims father would like to make a statement but not be recorded or have photos taken of him. BY THE COURT: Court directs the media not to film or photograph the victim statements. R.K. makes victim impact statement. Atty Jay questions if the letters were received that were submitted by the state. Court indicates he has not. Atty Kryshak indicates he has seen the letters but none of them are from victims. Court takes a few moments to review the letters that have been electronically filed. 1:58 p.m. Atty Jay makes sentencing arguments to the Court. Requests Life in prison without the chance of Extended Supervision. 2:10 p.m. Atty Kryshak makes sentencing arguments to the Court. Requests concurrent sentences and leaving it to the parole board to decide. 2:13 p.m. Defendant makes statements to the Court. BY THE COURT:
Count 2 - 10 years prison with first 5 years initial confinement followed by 5 years extended supervision. 460 days credit. (8/24/2018 thru 11/26/2019)
Count 1 - Life in prison. Eligible to petition for Extended Supervision after 30 years. Concurrent with Count 2. Pay costs including $663.00 for fees and travel allowances for the witnesses for the State at the preliminary hearing and trial as outlined by the Clerk of Courts office. Pay $100 domestic abuse surcharge on Count 1. Provide a DNA sample. Pay all other costs and surcharges that are applicable. Comply with any assessments and counseling deemed approporiate by the Department of Corrections. 460 days credit. Defendant is not eligible for the Challenge Incarceration or Substance Abuse programs. Court advises defendant of loss of voting and firearm privileges based on these felony convictions. Court provides the defendant with the Written Explanation of Determinate Sentence for both Counts.
