Newborn baby dies after being found in plastic bag

Around 10 a.m. April 6, the Marshfield Medical Center reported a possible missing newborn.

Deputies located a vehicle, driven by the father of the child, in the MMC parking lot, The baby was found wrapped in a bath towel inside a tied plastic bag in the rear cargo portion of the vehicle.

The child was rushed inside the hospital and was revived but later died from his injuries.

Authorities estimate the child was inside the bag for three hours before he was discovered.

Investigators learned the baby was born earlier that morning at a private residence but was not taken to a hospital for his injuries.

It was not immediately clear how the hospital knew about the missing infant.

The child's parents, Marylinn Feher, 22, and Allen Rice, 19, were arrested on charges of child neglect resulting in death. Deputies are also requesting homicide charges against Feher.

From Parents of newborn who died at Marshfield hospital said they didn't believe woman was pregnant:

Feher told police a doctor informed her in October that she was pregnant but she didn't believe it, because a doctor told her in 2015 that she couldn't get pregnant.

Rice told investigators he went to as many as three doctor's
[ UGH!!! This is not possessive, it's plural - should be "doctors"] appointments with Feher where the doctor said she was pregnant, but the couple refused to accept the diagnosis, according to court documents. Investigators found texts from Feher to Rice about the pregnancy.

But also this: Feher was in so much pain she crawled from the kitchen stove into a first-floor bathroom, she told investigators. (Just for giggles... cuz, really, journalists, she was on the stove?) Sheesh

IMO: This is because we do not stress how very important and life-changing it is to be a parent in this country, we just preach about having children because it's what is done. Too many broken people have children. Women need autonomy (power in their own lives to make that decision) and men need to stop thinking that it is their right to have children (to breed), but not actually take part in the care of those children. There are a lot of people who never should have had children. Too many "old" thoughts on this issue, wrapped inside of religion and politics.
