Shannon Salisbury, 29, was reported missing Oct. 22, 1994, by her live-in boyfriend, Harold Stankey, two days after he said she left their town of Burns home for a drive after an argument. She left behind two children, both younger than 2.

The Salisbury case has grown cold, but La Crosse County sheriff's Capt. Kurt Papenfuss believes she left her home unwillingly and was killed.

Stankey is a suspect, but the absence of a body and physical evidence has prevented any arrests, Papenfuss said.

"I'm confident if and when any remains are recovered, an arrest would be made," he said.

Shannon J. Salisbury was 29 years old with two young children at the time of her disappearance. She was last seen at 9:30 p.m. leaving her home in Burns, Wisconsin, after an argument with her live-in boyfriend.

The day after she left her home, Shannon’s car was found about five miles from her home parked on Jewett Road near Niedfeldt Road with a flat tire. Shannon’s purse, wallet and driver’s license were found in the car but there was no sign of Shannon.

Shannon’s boyfriend reported her missing two days after her disappearance and has been uncooperative with the investigation.

About a month before her disappearance, Shannon reported a domestic dispute between herself and her boyfriend. It was reported that this dispute involved Shannon’s desire to leave the boyfriend.

Over the years, unsuccessful search efforts with cadaver dogs have taken place in the area where Shannon’s car was found. The police and Shannon’s family do not believe she would have walked away from her children. Foul play is suspected in Shannon’s disappearance and her case continues to be investigated.

She was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt, a denim jacket, green sweatpants, and a turquoise ring. Shannon has tattoos of a lion on her chest and a butterfly on her back. She may use the last names Koskovich and/or Pischke.

Just to update you on the name situation, Shannon was originally Salisbury, but when her mom died and dad couldn't take care of her, she went to live with her grandma, last name Pischke. Then she married Koskovich. I didn't find a divorce, so either they weren't yet divorced or the record just isn't there.
