If that dirt road was called Love's Lane then the newspapers inaccurately reported it as a lover's lane and not Love's Lane or Lover's Lane. Thanks for the clarification. I'm assuming the newspapers didn't give a good description of the correct name. So, I understand the correct name to go by is 'Love's Lane' and not the general term 'lover's lane'? It's good to have a neighborhood resident's perspective after all these years.

I bet if the police still had the evidence from the Erdmann crime scene they could do a DNA test to determine if it was the family friend, the salesman or the three sociopaths.
Too bad we don't know their names, we could see if they committed more of these type of crimes years later.

Hopefully that evidence wasn't part of this lot of evidence that was destroyed in Milwaukee:

A killer left DNA evidence behind. But Milwaukee police destroyed it.

The three boys were not officially named. The shoe salesman and friend of the brother were. When the paper said three youths questioned. Everyone knew who they were. The friend and the shoe guy were named. They did try to DNA test the evidence some years back. It was to degraded. I will try and get a hold of the JS archive of it. Another murder back there was Nancy Lynn Radbil (1979) also unsolved. The former case and others within the radius of Milwaukee were deemed not related, and honestly likely were not. Even Radbil murderer, he followed her from Lovers Lane Rd and Hampton Ave on a motorcycle onto the bike path.
Back to the 3 boys. A dog was killed by them in Dec. before Terri. The dog was found by the owners deceased on Jan 1. They boys denied until they could no longer, stating the dog was dead when they mutilated her. Dead dogs can not chew at their wounds or the arrows. Nor can it let itself out of a fenced in yard. With the dogs collor tossed into the yard two weeks later. The yellow spray paint was still seen on the trees from the dog case, where police marked the trees again with Terri's case with orange.

Also with Terri. The RR are across the river from where she was found. There is the road Memnonee River Pkwy. A grassy area trees, river, RR tracks, up the hill is the back side of the Moreway building.
- stabbed 50 times, arms bound to her sides, raped

- lovers lane/woods near rr tracks - North Western Rd tracks east of Appleton Ave

- Terri was discovered at N5900 W9950 in the City of Milwaukee in a wooded area near railroad tracks. Terri had been sexually assaulted and died as a result of numerous stab wounds. Her sweater was pulled over her head, and her pants and underwear pulled down. The area where Terri was found was behind the old "Moreway" store located at 10100 W. Appleton Avenue. Other assaults had taken place at that location and that suspect may be the same individual who killed Terri.

Too bad we don't have the address of the boy who lived across from you. A 1971 Milwaukee city directory might provide a last name. I assume all were officially suspects?
The three boys names were never used because of age. They also were in the same class as her oldest brother. My sister is positive that the friend (s) of the brother is all or at least one of the boys. Just worded odd in the news. I looked him up on CCAP . He has a record of assault domestic thats the most serious. One of them no one remembers the name of another. The 3rd who lived across the street, no clue where he landed. Like I said after the dog stuff they up and moved. I assume to keep the kid out of trouble in the future. Odd his sister was one of my friends, none of us knew where they moved to.

Another cold case from 1979 is Nancy Radbil. Unsolved murder.
She was found in a wooded area long a bike path of the Menomonee River Parkway just off of Hwy 100 and Silver Spring Drive, three days after her family reported her missing. Note: Hwy 100 is also Lovers Lane Rd. This happened consequently directly W of the Erdmann family homes. Walking it about 2 blocks. The girl from Menomonee Falls that was likely the owner of the company's son. He was a very strong suspect found deceased maybe 1o years later.

What I did forget. The case from Racine. That is a long ways from Milwaukee. I also do not think it was a serial killer. After taking to my sister she said they were really honing in on the guy from payless shoes. Here is the crazy he admit to making advances at her. Now you all are going to make me re-do the Journal archives. lol. She also said the brother had a party in the basement and this was where this was to of happened.

If u know your address at the time. It would be easy to figure the address from across the street. I have a lot of interest in the Nancy Radbil case. I was only 7 at the the time, but remember it well. I have a sister the same age as Nancy and lived near where the murder took place or body was found. They have a DNA profile in this case. I wonder in how many of these cases the police have tried genealogy DNA. It’s a pretty simple process... from what I understand, you can actually just upload the profile in question to a website, and it is electronically matched from there.

Hard to find information on this one , anywhere I can view the facts of this case? the links above are almost all dead by now

There's a lot of hoops to jump through in Wisconsin before using familial DNA.

"the tool is only approved for use with unsolved, violent crimes where all investigative leads have been exhausted. Finally, the case needs to have a suitable STR DNA profile searching in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and a Y-STR DNA profile (male DNA testing). If you have a case that you believe may be suitable for familial DNA searching, you may send the case information to Melisa Wittkowske (wittkowskeml@doj.state.wi.us) or to the DNA analyst who worked your case. They will be able to investigate and determine whether the case has met all of the initial science requirements.
Once a case has met the initial requirements, a Familial DNA Search request form must be completed by the law enforcement agency and the prosecutor’s office and submitted to the DNA Databank. The Familial Search committee reviews all requests and triages amongst the other requests based on the public safety threat."

I have a lot of interest in the Nancy Radbil case.

In the Nancy Lynn Radbil case, they have DNA, a description of the vehicle he owned and was seen with at the scene (a red Honda motorcycle, model 175 CC), the Menomonee River Parkway, now the Oak Leaf Trail and even a description of the killer. So far, no hits.

Sorry I took so long, I did look for this family several times. As far as I can tell they moved to New Berlin WI from there, I have nothing. The parents are now deceased as with his little sister. I still have connections to the neighborhood. I did ask a few old friends and even one of his. They have no clue either past a few years after they originally moved.

I dont know if I replied to this. The day she was murdered I was down there running my dog. I remember her passing on her bike.

If you have the name, he could have a record, in prison or he's dead.

FTR: Nancy Radbil photo

Here's an unsolved 1972 attempted murder from Portage, WI with some similarities to the Radbil case; stabbed multiple times, dragged into bushes, occurred by railroad tracks, late teens female victim riding bike. Radbil's throat was cut and it was never released whether she was also stabbed, so I don't know if that applies.

News article of case.

Olkwitz was stabbed more than 100 times at her workplace, a metal company in Menomonee Falls. Erdman, stabbed roughly 60 times, was found in a field on Milwaukee's northwest side. Police have worked for years to solve the case and may have cracked it.

A search warrant, unsealed Thursday, shows police dug up the body of a man who died in 2008 to gather his DNA for a possible connection to both cases.

In 1966, Menomonee Falls police sent a questionnaire to delivery companies with contracts to the metal company where Olkwitz worked.

"Company records show that you[r] company makes deliveries here, and we request your cooperation in answering the following questions and returning this paper to our department immediately," the questionnaire read. "Your cooperation will be of vital assistance in solving this crime."

Police used DNA from his brother, who died, and a son who voluntarily gave up his DNA, the warrant states. WISN 12 News Investigates knocked on that son's door Thursday evening, but he did not come to the door. Police say his DNA profile shows similarities to DNA found on a piece of clothing on one of the women and he may be his son.

A doctor gathered remains with DNA from the man who was dug up, and it was turned over to police. The warrant was filed on July 18 and was unsealed Thursday in Milwaukee County. Milwaukee police will not share if the DNA from the crimes matches the man dug up or any information relating to the case until next week.
