If they had a paycheck I doubt they would be spending several days in a mine.
I don't know, but I bet that they are all men. Something to ponder.

This is common around here it is all for the copper. There has been people electricuted stealing copper from live wires
I'd thought theft of copper had decreased, since the price of copper had declined. I haven't checked it lately, so some might still consider it worth the crime. We had that problem in NYS as well, around construction sites, mostly, but haven't heard anything in quite a while.Looks like electrocution by theft is happening not just here but all around the country.
According to a statement from Gov. Jim Justice on Tuesday, the person who emerged from the mine gave search crews information about their whereabouts.
Justice also said a pair of four-man rescue teams would enter the mine, which hasn't been active for two years.

The younger woman shares his last name. His wife perhaps? An older man enters an abandoned mine with three younger people. Is the only one to emerge days later, is surprised that anyone was looking for them, the others are still not found. Yeah, that's not suspicious at all......
