Charleston banker LaRoy Gorman was shot, execution-style, in the parking lot of the Charleston Steak and Ale restaurant on November 12, 1982. He was getting into his car after having a meal with a female companion. The woman claimed she could not identify the shooter.
Immediately following the shooting, various newspaper executives and bankers from Charleston and Huntington contacted the police detectives with information that Gorman was a philandering type with many men's husbands on his string. Others believed the killing to be mob related.
The killing remains unsolved.
