That offer of 200 bucks is very bizarre, driver declined but thought it was weird, too. I can't think of a reason he would offer that, unless she misunderstood the amount. jmo

Maybe he wanted to make sure that they remembered him...as in he thought it would help his version of what happened if he was seen in that area at that time.

I'm reading this as the FBI headed a freight train of lies off at the pass.
Call me cynical or evil.
I believe the attorney. That’s his job. To only do what is advantageous to client but he isn’t going outright lie like that. Though I do not know who he is representing; BL or parents.
I’m not sure if you’re aware you replied to a lawyer to debate what constitutes evidence in a court of law?
Then you or the lawyer would know how cases like this are often thrown out and what sounds like good evidence is not permitted.
When coroners report is released, we’ll know more.
Given his age, and other circumstantial evidence, and the way things usually work in life, I think it’s pretty clear what happened. But the attorney was extremely successful in shielding the Laundries from LE. A few minutes of police questioning likely could have resulted in Gabby found a lot sooner. But they couldn’t do it.

Could they also be calling him a POI in hopes that he might come in voluntarily? I think you are probably right about the van. People witnessed BL assaulting her outside the van before.

This is what I believe to be true. Obviously they are after him, but they do need to "hope for the chance" that he might turn himself in.

Am I the only one that thinks the story from the TikToker who was behind him on the 26th and the Restaurant story on the 27th can't exist together?
Yes, I'm having a hard time reconciling this as well as I believe in the 26th sighting of them in Victor asking about Yellowstone and the store person suggesting the West Gate. I really think they did go to Yellowstone at some point. I don't see why they'd go to Victor and not proceed to Yellowstone.

I know police are permitted to lie to suspects during an interrogation if they think it will help their case, so to speak. But when police (or was it lawyers?) definitely stated that the guy who resembled Brian was not Brian, could they have been lying in order to trick Brian n
I’m sorry, but just NO. How is there a debate over Gabby’s van?!? If I give someone my keys to drive to the store, they do not own my car. If I let my boyfriend drive because he prefers driving, he does not own my car. It’s my car, I paid for it, I hold the title. Until I give that title to another person (and it’s notarized), it is MY car. If I want my car back and ask and it is not returned, I can report MY car as stolen.

Gabby being killed does not mean that her van is now BL’s van.
Joe Murray, former cop and now attorney, is one of three law enforcement professionals who host a podcast called, "Police off the Cuff." Murray said you cannot hold him/arrest him for being in possession of her van since he and Gabby lived together, were boyfriend and girlfriend (or "engaged," as some news outlets are still referring to them, although it is not true, per Nichole Schmidt, Gabby's mother). Murray also said that Laundrie can't be arrested for having the van because Gabby is not here to say whether she gave him express permission to drive the vehicle and that she and Brian might have had an informal or formal agreement that it was their van to share.

Gabby Petito update: Search for Gabby Petito's fiancé Brian Laundrie ends for the day at Florida nature reserve - CNN

North Port Police said the arrival of the dive team "does not mean anything has been found. It's a part of the overall search process."

The team, made up of about 10 divers, was requested by North Port Police on Wednesday morning, said Sarasota County Sheriff's office spokesperson Kaitlyn Perez.

"These divers are specifically trained and very talented in low visibility bodies of water," Perez said. "They dive down where you and I can't see anything at all. They utilize technology and other special equipment to help them get down deep into really deep bodies of water, so they're out there right now to recover whatever it is that they might find."

The fourth day of searching the reserve ended Wednesday evening, according to officials.

"Nothing found. We will be back out Thursday, similar operation," North Port Police tweeted.

Agreed. It is very difficult to put these two things together. I was getting the impression that Gabby was murdered on 26th August. Especially after the sighting of BL driving alone, and acting confused and 'weirdly'.
Was that not the 29th ?
I'm asking 'cos all the numbers are a jumble in my head and I've mixed up all the utubers' names again now.. or tiktokers or whatever they were?

Am I the only one that thinks the story from the TikToker who was behind him on the 26th and the Restaurant story on the 27th can't exist together?
From what I read, the TikToker account was that he was alone and pulled off while she passed. She then saw the van parked elsewhere the next day or two. GP may have been at another location (maybe with wifi working on videos) and he went back to get her after checking out the campground. JMO on how the two can coexist.

I’m so sorry to hear about the neighbor!
My mom also said this - she and my dad are doing snowbird life right outside of Tampa - most are retirees, too. Aside from not going anywhere due to pandemic, they are home the majority of the day. Usually go out for groceries and doctor visits. They get used to seeing/hearing certain things - but sometimes things happen and you aren’t sure of when it happened, just a ballpark day/time, but you’d know if something was out of the ordinary.
Can you imagine saving your whole life to retire to Florida, and find yourselves the neighbors of this family and this horrific situation? Yikes!

Amateur opinion and speculation

we don’t know. Everything is an assumption. If they were living rent free at his parents’ house how do we know he wasn’t putting his money from his job straight into the van?

What job are you referring to? I wasn't aware Brian had a real job.

This whole manhunt thing is reminding me of the Escape from Dannemora event in 2015. It's possible BL got some of their techniques from the movie. They holed up in a vacant cabin, scattered pepper? to throw off the K-9's, etc....
LOL, I have been thinking the same, but they eventually got those two prisoners. One shot and the other running on the way to the Canadian border.

It almost seems like there is as much manpower searching for BL as there was for them.

Maybe he wanted to make sure that they remembered him...as in he thought it would help his version of what happened if he was seen in that area at that time.

I initially thought the offer was because he was desperate for the ride. To get out of there ASAP. But now, it does put him away from scene of crime. Proves he was not there all of time. And possible he could have found Gabby gone. So I think maybe the $200 offer was to cause a memory that he was not always right there

I agree that Gabby cannot press charges. I do not believe the van belongs to her boyfriend or her fiancé unless there’s a link to a law where this is allowed. She can’t press charges for a stolen vehicle because she is dead.

Most of the reports use adjectives like "explosive," and "aggressive" but fail to include the bit that he was reportedly NOT yelling. I'd love to see an "explosive and aggressive" argument that didn't involve yelling. Sounds like a comedy bit, to be honest.

Brian Laundrie argued in Wyoming restaurant hours before Gabby Petito vanished: eyewitnesses
Angelo said it did not appear that Laundrie was on drugs, and he was "not screaming." But he was behaving aggressively with the restaurant staff, a waitress, a hostess and the manager – all women.
She described his body language as "aggressive" and said he left and returned about four times.

Emphasis mine.

The "not screaming" bit was interesting.
Was he talking loudly, though ?
Enough so that other patrons could hear what the subject matter was ?

The leaving and coming back 4 times sounds like he was in a controlled fury.
A person screaming, yelling or "losing it" might be less dangerous in the long run -- than a person who is in full command of their emotions, but still able to 'present' in a quiet tone.
I wondered after reading the article if BL was the type to hold his anger in and then unleash it when away from the public and isolated ?
Except Gabby knew !
Did he make her bear the brunt of his wrath ?

I hope she kept a physical/hard copy or an online diary.

My .02 at this time is that the restaurant staff did not find this to be either comedic or funny.
They work hard to provide a pleasing environment with good food and even one lousy customer can be disheartening. :(
Imo.

Quite.
However , yesterday he cancelled the presser following contact with the FBI and he mentioned that in the statement he made at the time.
