Still following of course, but mostly just updates, because the threads are going at lightening speed.

Thinking this morning about this search, made me remember the intense manhunt for Christopher Dorner, here in southern CA. Does anyone remember? it was in 2013, the guy was on a revenge killing spree that began in Irvine. They couldn't find the guy. After 12 or 13 days he was sighted in the Big Bear Lake area and was eventually found in a cabin he'd broken into. Christopher Dorner shootings and manhunt - Wikipedia

Makes me wonder if BL might not be holed up in some secluded snowbird residence.
I don't know, police appear to be very concentrated on a particular area in that reserve though, with all those resources. But how on earth does he survive all these days in that swampy environment.

I so want him to be found alive.....
100% agree! Also, since there has been talk that he was familiar with the Appalachian Trail, he could have found a vacant cabin to hole up in.

There were tens of thousands of people in Yellowstone and Grand Teton during the last two weeks of August. It's the busiest time of the year in some of the most popular parks in the nation. I'm guessing there are still thousands of people who have yet to process their photos and videos who have something in the background that they didn't realize was there.
Some of them probably never will notice if they have any pictures or videos of Gabby or BL or the van i would imagine

So this reserve is being destroyed because of BL. Well, if it were up to me I'd say leave him in there  he'll come out sooner or later, or maybe not. IF he's in there. Is this reserve is being destroyed because his parents say he's there?

I have been hearing these same words from my husband all week......leave him in there, he will come out sooner or later...

I'm a little surprised her family is opening her memorial service to the public. I hope "the public" is on their best behavior!
I'm not, this one case is being reported in every country in the world.. it's opening a whole new debate about violence against women.
It is utterly selfless of them.
I think people will respect that.

(I don't imagine her 'in-laws' will show up to pay their respects)

To Brian the hitchhiking thing, initially, probably felt like a really great idea. Perhaps he thought he would turn it into this big scene and a "search for Gabby" right out there in western Wyoming. Could Brian have been so sure of himself they would not find her for some time and there was very little if any forensic evidence and he could lie his way out of it so close to the scene of the crime in Grand Teton? However, as the hours passed he realized hitchhiking was not going to work. Lots of walking, it's hot, it's exhausting, very hard on the body and mind and these days very people pick up hitchhikers. I'm actually surprised anyone picked him up but I do suppose given the location and lots of like minded individuals camping, hiking, etc. There were lots of people with big hearts and sympathy for a guy walking all alone. I also saw someone had asked earlier why he needed to be home by September 1st? I think that's just the way it worked out. I don't think there was any reason in particular other than it took him about 3 days roughly. At this point on the 29th for example, I think Brian was no longer making rational decisions and not thinking clearly. I think ultimately he had had enough of nature and parks and campers and wanted to "just go home" as quickly as humanly possible. Also, another thought, what if Brian was always going to return with the van but wanted to do a day or so of hitchhiking so he could create some witnesses that would help spread this narrative of camping alone, need to get back to my fiance, returns, love of my life is missing, etc. But all along Brian was going to take the van and drive home in the end. I also think Brian not allowing Norma Jean Jalovec to drive him those 3 miles down Forest Road 30290 to the van was because he didn't want anyone to see him connected to the van. I mean it's a very noticeable and memorable van if you ask me. Brian knew it was only a matter of time before Gabby was found but I also think him getting the van out of the campground would buy more time until they found her. He may have even believed they would never find her. I mean take into consideration, he had 19 days home, mostly comfortable back in Florida before they found her. I say mostly because I think even on the drive home, what Brian had done was slowly eating him alive.

The funeral is set for this weekend though. I can’t imagine they’d have one without her being there in some capacity. /JMO

No, it's not the funeral.

Funeral services for Gabby are up in the air as the Teton County Medical Examiner has yet to release her remains to her family. The family’s lawyer said once her body is back in New York with her family they will determine specifics for her funeral service.

It’s actually a visitation that’s being held on Sunday, not a funeral. It’s less formal than a funeral ceremony and generally takes place a few days prior. It’s common for a family to have both a visitation and a funeral service.

While a funeral service is traditional in nature, a visitation is a more informal gathering generally held in the afternoon or early evening. The hours for Gabby’s visitation are 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Visitations can take place in any number of places, with the most common being a funeral home or church. The main purpose in attending is to offer support to the family and close friends of the deceased.

That's a good point. If I had been there, even being aware of the situation and on the lookout for something like that, I would be quite likely to miss it because my eyesight, even zoomed in, is not great, and my memory for faces is terrible. I would probably recognize the van (see username :D ) but that's about it.

I think he has never made any major life decisions without his parents guidance and is heavily dependent on their emotional support. Mom and dad maybe have always protected him from consequences. In denial, act like everything is fine and maybe it will turn out that way. As others have stated, maybe he gave his parents some BS story and not until they were contacted by Gabby’s parents were they aware something was wrong. Then the case exploded and the whole world is watching.
MOO

There's no way his parents or BL is so delusional they think Gabby's parents wouldn't ever miss her are they? I mean her friend Rose her friends and family all noticed her missing.

Could the lawyer or parents have had a chance to do a "dead drop" for BL somewhere? Making sure their tail isn't watching and slip something on a shelf somewhere for BL to grab when they leave. If BL is in disguise of some kind
Maybe at the library?

No, nor me. I'd have hidden a body deep in the forest.

I can't believe he left Gabby just a few hundred metres/yards/feet from the van, but here's why I think he did:

It makes me think the murder wasn't planned, and he lost his temper (more so than usual) went berserk and he killed her pretty much where she was found. The argument may have started at the van, and she ran from him.

If it was cold, calculated and planned, he'd have hidden her body deep in the forest, or elsewhere.

And he obviously didn't want to move her body, because the 2 vehicles that came along while the van was parked up scared him off and he was afraid he'd be witnessed.

I suspect that he was aiming to carry her to the dense woods off to the West (about another half-mile from where she was found), but then realized that it would take a lot of effort so just settled for that patch of trees. If you've never had to carry a limp person before, it's a lot more tiring than you'd expect.

It could be interesting if they decided on 9/19 being legal TOD or if that's just the date the funeral home is using

Exactly. I would do things that are beyond my moral range, for my brother. There are few things he could do that I would not risk everything to help him. including keeping my mouth shut, or even risking prison.

Geez, not me. I’ll roll on anyone who intentionally harms another person. If you victimize someone, you aren’t worthy of my help and I wouldn’t want you around me so keeping you out of prison is of no interest to me. If you accidentally hurt someone, come clean and face the consequences. I’m not throwing my life away to help someone else though. Not even my own daughter. I’m way too little to cut it in prison.
