Agreed on both feelings on the issue. I suspect they do have IT monitoring usage during open hours, and lots of stuff is blocked. Like no social media access is one part. But I think it’s been really helpful to remove barriers to access for our unhoused residents and also for immigrants just trying to land on their feet.
I"m wondering. . ..maybe they just into the library to whisper to each other.

Gabby Petito Case Update: Best Friend Says Brian Laundrie Is Alive, Shares Possible Location (ibtimes.com)
[...]

“He is out in the wilderness, I promise you,” Rose Davis, 21, who identifies as Petito’s best friend, told People. “He’s out there. He is. If he’s alive, he’s out there, camping out...he lived in the Appalachians by himself for months.”

Davis’ comments come after a former co-worker of Laundrie’s spoke out to share that he had previously bragged about his ability to survive on barely anything while camping out.

“In conversation about hiking...Brian talked about the longest time that he spent in the woods was 6 weeks and bragged about only having a large pack of either cheese or peanut butter crackers to sustain him for that time,” the co-worker said. “He is well versed in spending a long time in the woods and living off nearly nothing.”

Anyone wonder if they are trying to lure Brian to the memorial service, in person? He wouldn’t be that dumb, right? But if he was the one who’d made that initial stone cross by her body (I know, there were reports the family did it, but confusion about when the first was laid) he COULD have a twisted sense of “paying respects” and maybe would want to somehow do so, or taunt the police? I think I’m reaching, and there’s no way, but I just had to say it. Because with COVID I would’ve maybe expected the virtual component otherwise
In the inevitable Lifetime movie version, no doubt…

how many times have we seen the murderer (if that’s what he is, not saying he is!) go to the scene to try and help or insert themselves? (coughJODIcough) so it may be what they’re doing. But at the same time since they want this all about Gabby.. he’d have some big.. ya know what’s.. if he showed up

Yes, you could. But the whole point of a burner is to make yourself untraceable. Text messaging at extended length is a risk depending on who you’re talking to and whether or not that person is being monitored as a means of getting to you. Though you can always toss the phone and get a new one after a few days.
LE can still trace burner phones, especially if they've been used recently. They can track the identity of the person using it by their text messages, calls, and data usage. Imo

Yes, but they’d need to know the number. Which they’d only get from his communications with someone else or by tracking down the purchase receipt for said burner phone, if he paid by traceable means.

A few thoughts, obviously all my own opinions:

  1. BL presents as a narcissist. These are people who never think they're in the wrong and always think they're smarter than all the other 'sheeple'. They typically do not respond suicidally. (I've met a lot of them professionally and they will bend your ear for hours about how nothing was their fault).
  2. BL is afraid of authority. The traffic stop shows him as completely submissive to the cops and trying to plead with them to get out of trouble.
  3. I think his survival skills are marginal at best. Also, in the van life videos I've seen, Gabby does everything and he just watches. His clothing - shorts, flip flops, t-shirts - is always the opposite of technical.
  4. There was almost certainly tension in the home once Gabby went missing. It's possible he was given some kind of ultimatum by the parents (or not, obviously).
  5. I suspect the so-called 'camping trip' holds a lot of clues, which is why we've heard nothing about it from anyone. The fact that there were no sightings on the busiest camping day of the year is extremely significant to me.
  6. He didn't take wallet and phone with him when he left because these were ways he could be tracked or identified. That strongly suggests he was going on the run, not to off himself.
  7. I suspect based on all of this that he drove to the reserve, parked the car, hiked in, and then left by another route. I would be very curious what evidence the cops do or don't have about the movements of the parents' truck that night.
  8. He probably has plenty of cash on him, either from looting Gabby's account or his own or his parents.
  9. The parents do not seem to show any signs of being worried about him, despite the statements. If they actually feared for his life they'd be on TV pleading with him and fully cooperating with the authorities. They appear to be much more worried about legal jeopardy than physical jeopardy.
All of this. I would like to add a 2A to this that IMO when he was speaking to LE he is always looking towards the SUV that she is sitting in crying. Did anyone else pick up on this or am i just saturated with suspicion? Poor eye contact with LE when they were speaking to him and consistently looking toward the SUV, or was the sun in his eyes?

Exactly. It wouldn’t be that easy but we HAVE seen it before….

I sincerely hope it’s all about Gabby and nothing so callous from Brian (or detectives) takes away from the moments to memorialize and honor her life

Yes, that, but also, I think it's going to be hard to convict him of murder because the video of LE and the traffic stop in Moab show him to be the recipient of scratches.

I would think a defense attorney--JMOO--would make the point that GP and BL were both abusers and that this one got out of hand. BL may even say GP started it this time, and how do they prove differently?

What happened after this incident??

Gabby's family in particular would like to know.

"We called Brian, we called the mom, we called the dad, we called the sister, we called every number that we could find,” Petito said. “No phone calls were picked up, no text messages were returned.”

"Petito said he wants Laundrie to be held accountable for whatever part he played in Gabby’s disappearance, along with his family for protecting him."

What about some kind of a submersible type raft?
Pipe for air... waterproof?... I don't think he had time to create something sophisticated..

I could see him in a boat- small boat or a canoe somewhere but for a long time- eternity?- he needs a job, food... OK, three months on peanut butter crackers but what about the rest of his life? Does he want to live like an illegal, getting temporary farm jobs, lying about his identity? He is used to some comforts so I just do not see him living with virtually nothing, and he has a temper, so that portends more problems, IMO. As to his parents, they might be in a state of shock over how he has ruined their lives, which seem up to now to have been middle class and uneventful, IMO.
