I hate to drag personal experience into this, but I have been choked a couple of times. I did not go unconscious in 30 seconds, either time. One time, I thought I WAS actually going to die, and I still never lost consciousness. It all depends on which structures are being affected, and whether the hyoid bone is broken or not. Outside of those experiences, I'm certainly not an expert, so I can't go any farther than to say that I expect strangulation deaths may happen in a number of ways. Someone who is angry enough to strangle someone else may have no real concept of time and may do more damage than they realized in different time frames.

Glad you're here with us, @ginx and thanks for the special info you have given us. Whew, what experiences you endured and survived. SMH.

Good point about someone who is extremely angry when strangling someone. I can see BL being that angry after the incident at the diner when she apologized for BL's rudeness and tantrums. He probably got angrier & angrier as they went back to their camping area. By now he was in rage mode. He may well have jumped on her, STS, as soon as he could park the van. SMH. Yes, I can see it. Either grabbing a rope or a belt, etc., with which to strangle her, or just using his bare hands, he did what he did until she was limp and he was exhausted. And after it was over, and he realized that she was truly gone, did he panic or smile with a job well done? SMH again.

With all due respect to JT, I disagree. Roberta is NOT built like Brian at all. If that's the case, I think LE thought he was there and it was just the parents the entire time, not Brian. I'm starting to believe BL left earlier than Sept. 13th now.
That’s been my thought for awhile. I can’t imagine how the 13th timeline works out.
SB talks to BL on phone.
CL mows grass.
BL leaves on hike.
BL is gone long enough that Ls become concerned and CL goes to search for 4-5 hours.
The reserve closes at 6 PM

Now we know NPPD was watching. Now they claim they saw BL leave. Has anyone seen a time on that?
Did they also see CL leave and return 4-5 hrs later?

I think the Ls bought the “story” BL was serving about another fight w GP and her going home (moo), right up until the Ss and Ps started calling, and NPPD took the van. Then I think all heck broke loose and BL left. I wonder if NPPD has footage of Sunday the 12th?

Does anyone think that BL could still be alive somehow? Just a theory given other strange behaviors from the parents and others.
Speculation
MOO
No .. I never entertained the thought that he was alive from the moment he shunted out in the Mustang ..... all the absolute sightings and particularly from some people with a high degree of self imposed validity, who claimed he asked for directions to California,... all wishful thinking.

I'm not surprised that he didn't get any further away than what he did. .. obviously, hiking lost it's thrill real early.

IMO the remains were identified as BL but the question is how did he die. Was it by his own hand? Was it due to animal predation? Was it accidental such as due to injury? Was it the work of a vigilante (either someone not known to him or someone known to him)? Could someone have held him at gun point and made him end his life so as to appear it was by suicide? IF someone killed him at the scene or dumped his remains at the location, it would be nearly impossible to determine and most likely would never be questioned. IMO.

That's what I have been thinking.

Could his mother have tried to make herself look like Brian, so LE would think he was back home? Even with just a baseball cap on, it's obvious she's not Brian. Maybe a hoodie pulled up? But not just a baseball cap.
After hearing LE explanation of why they thought BL was in the house after the Mustang returned from CR, I have to wonder if BL actually left in the stang to begin with..JMOHO ;)

I agree. Perhaps some of all this Mustang thing was staged by the parents too if BL was already dead.

I have often wondered why BL would need to take the car if he likes walking. The park seems close to the house.

The subject of gastric emptying issue came up during the Oscar Pistorius trial. Prof. Saayman, forensic pathologist, performed the autopsy on Reeva and said a person's stomach is normally empty of food six hours after eating. He took pains to qualify this statement by saying that estimating the time of gastric emptying was not an exact science and that he was relying on his years of experience and studying.

Saayman is Head of the Dept of Forensic Medicine at the University of Pretoria and Chief Specialist in the Forensic Pathology Service. He has 30 years of experience as a forensic pathologist and is responsible for the medico-legal investigation of unnatural and unexplained deaths and has performed and supervised approximately 10,000-15,000 such case investigations and post mortem examinations.
I was referring specifically to digestion as opposed to speed of emptying in analysis of contents
https://www.iosrjournals.org/iosr-jdms/papers/Vol16-issue10/Version-
10/G1610102635.pdf

Digestion is an active ante mortem process, which does not continue after death. Although acids and enzymes are present, the peristaltic movements necessary to churn food with them are absent.2 The presence of food particles in the stomach and upper small intestine provides still another source of information to the doctor regarding time since death. When and what the deceased ate for his last meal is important information for the doctor who will conduct the autopsy. Various ingested food materials remain within the stomach for variable periods of time, depending on the nature and size of the meal. It has been determined through extensive research that under ordinary circumstances the stomach empties its contents 4 to 6 hours after a meal.3 According to Modi, the gastric empting varies in human being from 2 1/2 to 6 hours.3 In certain cases the medical examiner will be able to determine the type of food, which still remains in the stomach, if matched with the last known meal. This can help establish a time period .4A number of contributing factors including type of food item, particles size, volume of food, types of food consumed, temperature and individual metabolism may have direct effect upon the digestion and empting of ingested food in stomach.5 The state of digestion and transportation rate of food from the stomach into the duodenum depends on several factors, such as anatomical, physiological, pathological, psychological, agonal , kind of food, etc, which contribute to great ultra- and inter individual variability of gastric emptying.6 The quantity and digestive state of gastric contents is modified by the following factors:

That's what I have been thinking.
There are so many possibilities to BL's COD. An entire can of worms IMO. There's an unlikely possibility that BL attacked one or both of the L's & lost. Then was taken to MP & dumped along w/the wet bag, back pack, etc. Anything is possible. I think it's so important that BL's COD is determined...totally speculation on my part.

I don’t understand the point in saying these things by NPPD-it sounds worse than they just missed it. This case seems to be littered with instances of people who should better know when it’s better off to keep your mouth shut but just don’t seem to be able to. IMO.
So far SB has been claiming he ‘mentioned in passing’ to the FBI that BL went for a hike and didn’t return. On AB he said he couldn’t remember if it was Monday (13th) night or Tues (14) morning, but since then the FBI had confirmed it was Monday. SB also indicated it was not his responsibility to check on what the two law agencies were sharing. NPPD has claimed no one informed them BL was gone.

What if the FBI is now saying, wait a quick minute-u were informed, so NPPD is forced to release this excuse. I wonder if finger pointing is starting??? Those searches surely cost a pretty penny and really no one wants to look the fool.

It's hard to imagine anyone would bother tracking Bri to end his life.. I actually doubt if any self respecting animal would put the time into it..

I favour accidental. Clumsy, awkward, unco-ordinated, flatfooted, no map, he being an eco warrior, scared, let's not forget he has the fugitive mindset, that would tend to make one lose concentration on the job at hand, the job being to keep oneself safe. He isn't just strolling , he's running away .

Running away from himself, his life, his crime , his mother, his father ,his sister, his nephews, his community, his narcissistic image of himself , and left with the reality of himself as a failed , nonsensical , ridiculous killer of one small woman. One woman. And the theft. a measly $1000, when your real spivvy thief would knock off a bank and be done with it.

Stealing a second hand small Ford Transit van.

It's all so mean, so petty, so small.

personally, I would only refer to ‘screaming’ as actual screaming.

If it were someone merely being strident and adding on a little emphasis/biting their words off, I’d probably call it ‘barking’.

If it were less serious a topic, like maybe the person was doing it for exaggerated effect or a joke, I’d call it ‘yelling’ or ‘hollering’.

admittedly, I am not everyone else in the world but I wouldn’t be surprised if they all use particular names for personal perceptions of unduly exercised voices.

oh I agree. If they said 'screaming' he was screaming. <modsnip>

This sounds like one of those auto translations of an article from China. I run into that laundromat thing often when I see those articles. Moo

eta- or not? I just read the link. Weird
I think it’s a bad autocorrect. “Laundromat” is Laundrie- for BL. ….camper, that Laundrie and his parents….
Moo

Unlikely they could tell. For one thing, all forms of scavengers go for that area of the body (the gut) because it's easy and contains lots of calories.

The fact that Gabby's boots were found placed near her body, the way a person does when they put their boots outside a tent, combined with Stepdad's view that there was a good tent space (for their sized tent) right there makes me think they got to the site, and managed to put up the tent. Gabby was wearing a sweatshirt, so the air had gotten chilly.

It had to be either August 27 or 28. And those saying that only Brian was seen on cams during that period are correct, AFAIK. August 27 makes the most sense. But whether it was August 27, 28 or 29, it is still a period when Brian is known to be in the area, before he takes off (from that campsite) for Florida.

He had to have seen her on the ground. He had to have noticed she was dead. He did nothing. Which is evidence of guilt, for those who still need it.
BBM
It was said that Gabby wasn't bothered by wildlife though.
