Do we know why FL LE wouldn't do a missing person report for GP's dad, necessitating her mom filing the report in NY?

And, how much of a delay did that add?

(I asked this last night and I apologize if someone already answered; between threads being locked periodically and the speed of posting, I may have missed it if an answer was posted. Thanks!)

Everything about this case is just a little odd. If their sole purpose of this trip was to meet with their lawyer, he surely could have met them in their home. I'm sure since the police escorted them to and from the library, the police would have also arranged safe passage for the attorney. It just doesn't make sense. MOO

My thought is is parents didn't feel safe speaking freely in their home. Since the FBI had been then there at least once while the parents were removed from the home. Maybe they think the FBI left listening devices. A little paranoid but if the FBI is putting out bank fraud warrants they for sure are serious about getting their man.
Side note I think the bank fraud warrant is about getting BL in custody. I think it plays a dual purpose of anyone helping/harboring BL will be charged as well. So his parents can't say "it was just our missing son contacting us". Now it's a crime to not report contact not a moral issue.

I agree. We need to cut them a break until we have actual facts of what BL told them and know exactly their thought process afterwards. They've been though enough.

They completely ignored desperate messages from a desperate family who didn’t know where their daughter was, so as it stands right now, they get no breaks from me.

Where was it? I read in the garage?
Here are 3 photos of the van in a POLICE Garage after they brought it in for processing. I think that’s the confusion with people thinking it was In Laundries family garage. JMO

This is the van Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie were in -- now in police custody in North Port, Florida. Detectives processed it for evidence with the help of FBI agents.

My problem with this time frame is this:

I cannot find any type of corroboration that Gabby was alone in that hotel from 8/17 to 8/23. Someone told me earlier today that her father said it on Dr. Phil, but he did not. Not the Dr. Show I watched. I would appreciate knowing why we think Brian left her there for a week like that.

On that Dr. Phil Show I watched, her father made it sound as if he would have gone to get her himself if Brian left her alone in a state and went home. So I'm thinking if he would say that on TV, why wouldn't he also say that Brian ACTUALLY DID leave her alone at the Fairfield Inn? Or did I not hear the entire interview somehow? Please help because I was listening youtube and right have gotten a clipped version of it. Or maybe I just missed it because my fiance would NOT STOP TALKING!!!!

Help.

Yes, that entire week Gabby was supposedly alone is a mystery to me. What was she doing the whole time and why didn't she communicate with anyone?

What about the need to make a ‘wire transfer’ of funds to retain a lawyer or make pmt??? Possible the lawyer wouldn’t want the transaction made on his business computers since it was payment to his own office or to lawyers he recommended but didn’t wish to be connected by an electronic trail connecting to this high profile case/ conflict interests even maybe?

Retired banker here. It would be so risky to use a public computer to do any sort of financial transaction. Using public WiFi almost guarantees your financial info will be stolen. And many banks with online access will throw up roadblocks if they detect an unsecured computer trying to sign in. The parents might be desperate at this point though.

A tip. If you have no option but to do a transaction away from a secure WiFi, use your cellphone. Make sure you are connected to a cell network and not a Wifi. In Vegas I lectured my husband about transferring money on a tablet using the hotel WiFi.

Would this be because it came into his possession in Wyoming, because he used it in Wyoming, because her case is being handled in Wyoming etc? Curious if someone with the legal understanding can explain. (Just jumping off your post with the question)

I don't know this answer, but on the news, the guy who does live coverage was saying it could be because that's where it started initially, and so they did their indictment there since it's a federal crime. I don't know if maybe the exact states like IL, etc will also come forward with separate indictments, but I'm thinking because it's federal, they just kicked it off in WY and might let WY lead. But I don't know, so I guess that doesn't help.

But BL's parents didn't answer any calls from Gabby's Dad and Mom over a period of many days. These calls were purposefully ignored.
I can't cut them a break for that. That shows wilful evasion.

A sweet young woman who lived with them for 2 years did not come back from a cross country trip with their son. Not only did they not answer any of Gabby's relative's calls/texts but they also didn't reach out to them to make sure she was ok or to make sure they knew that she didn't come back to their home. That is despicable IMO and they deserve whatever consequences arise from their behavior.

I can tell you that it is often more difficult for a thin person to put on weight that a larger person to lose weight. IME.
There's so many options for living with a disguise; a good toupee and a shave, or dress in drag. An hijab, or a niqab which only leaves the eyes uncovered, in plain sight in a city with a Muslim population, just to name a few.
And fake ID which is relatively easy to buy in Florida or any US city.
