JUNE 12, 2024

Laura Lane had been working a temporary job at a hotel in Buffalo, Wyoming when she disappeared. She was making the 12 hour trip back home to Nampa, Idaho on June 2, 2024 when her phone last pinged near Signal Mountain in Grand Teton National Park. Her best friend, Angelina Ramirez, was able to determine that Laura arrived at Moran Junction in Teton County in 12:49 PM where she suddenly vanished.

Laura has not picked up her pain medication from her pharmacy which she desperately needs to function after a motorcycle crash a decade ago in which she broke her back and neck requiring a metal vertebrae. Her car license plate has been detected in the cities of Nampa and Caldwell, but these sightings are not verified.

Sgt. Jesse Willcox of the Teton County Sheriff’s Office said that on June 5, he was notified that Lane hadn’t arrived home and that at around 1 p.m. on June 2, her phone had pinged in the area of Moran Junction.

The Jackson Police Department checked the Flock camera system to see if Lane’s license plate had been located in the Jackson area on June 2, but they were unable to find any record of her traveling through, Willcox said.

Nampa police officers told Willcox that her vehicle has been picked up on their license plate readers in the Nampa area.

Carmen Boeger, the community engagement coordinator for the Nampa Police Department, said Lane is still missing and has been entered into a national database.

“There were a couple notes about a vehicle she possibly had that did hit our license plate readers,” Boeger said. “That doesn’t necessarily mean she was the one driving.”

Lane and her vehicle are still outstanding, Boeger said. Lane was last known to be traveling in a 2013 red Dodge Dart.

Details about what happened are still forthcoming from law enforcement, but Grace Lane, Laura’s older sister, said that Lane’s red Dodge Dart was found in a river by a local fisherman Sunday and that the Teton County Sheriff’s Office and other entities had been working to extract the vehicle over the past two days.

Lane’s daughter Jen posted on social media that she was told that Lane died instantly and that there was no pain or struggle. The family thanked authorities for their efforts in recovering Lane.

RIP Laura. I sort of knew that this wasn't going to end well. Especially when I googled a map of Signal Mountain and saw all those lakes and rivers
