It's an area in a different spot than we've been discussing, but consider the Old Mill Pond bridge area.

Look at why she'd be familiar with it:

And look at one shot of a pulloff by the bridge: (attachment)

The main road I'm talking about is Falls Avenue.

That looks to be a perfect place, writer7! I had been wondering why more water searches had not taken place. LE must not have had any tips/leads to those waters.

May today be Zahra's day! Hopefully LE did find something yesterday.

I agree. If I had a body in my car i would take the 127 route there to avoid 321 but I would want to take 321 to hightail it back home!! Gotta keep in mind too that these 2 had warrants so they would want to avoid LE....hum...never thought about that but 127 has several DUI road blocks at night....321 not so much. Never thought about that until now. What routes would be less likely to avoid a roadblock....wonder if I can find a list of recent police setups for the past month or 2 . I'll have to work on that tommorow. Going to get up early and try to grab some shots at the site.

Thanks shay- that was part of the reason why 321 had caught my eye- nice work. I only have a few minute here, but wanted to say- some great posts over night and please keep up the great work!
Chilly and clear here right now-warming up quickly. Should be an excellent day to find Zahra or at the very least- hear some news from LE.

sarx, I never implied that LE does not read here. I have been at WS long enough to know they do. My earlier comments were not meant to disparage the good work that has been done here. LE has the same (and more) resources we have as far as google maps, Bing, and so forth. They have people who are very familiar with the areas they are searching in. IIRC, they have also had people from Wildlife and Fisheries with them. What I did say is that LE was going by having interviewed AB and EB (even though they aren't talking now), as well as following any tips/leads they are getting in.

These maps are very interesting as well as helpful to see just what LE is up against. It is like searching for the proverbial needle in the haystack and my heart goes out to them. The maps from yesterday are great for showing where LE was searching.

Please know that we are all here for Zahra because we care - all of us. My granddaughter is at Pope AFB and is Security Forces as well as a dog handler. Her husband is at Ft. Bragg. This is just killing them because if LE were to let the GP in on the search, they would be there. They also had wanted to help with the search for Shaniya but could not.

My intention is not to disrupt the thread at all. I do not know of a thread that I have posted in with the wrong intentions. So, peace, and hopefully today will be Zahra's day.

MOO

LaLaw2000,
I understand, and some departments are very specific about who they will allow to search (especially with specific discipline dogs, under certain conditions.) The military certifies differently under their own certification system (as I am sure you know)and is recognized differently in a court of law- and I believe that at the time that is why departments choose private dog handlers over military dog handlers (though most often both are of equal quality.) The Hickory PD and investigative bodies involved have been specific about that, and in wanting specific dogs brought in.
Though we are fortunate to fall into the category of both private and certified, I completely understand your daughters' pain and frustration at not being able to help.
I thnk the only thing I can offer is that I personally believe that if they do not have some significant resolution to this case by the weekend, they will loosen up a bit on their requirements and perhaps your granddaughter could call again and offer any HRD dogs that Pope or Bragg might have to assist in some of the wider areas of search. Water dogs might be good as well. JMO.

LE certainly does have maps/grids/tips/leads/ emergency personel etc. But they are also exhausted after a month of trying to understand what happened to this beautiful child, and how best to maintain case integrity so that the person(s) who harmed her are charged to the fullest extent of the law.
Peace,
Oriah

Most of the time pop ups. Uusally on 127 just after you cross bridge. Sometimes locals can see them setting things up and know but there is only 2 other ways to get across Catawba River if you know ahead of time: 321 or 16. I dont know anything about Caldwell countys and how they do theirs. With it being election year we seen an increase in them from about July until end of Sept. They started popping them up on side roads in Bethlehem area( wildlife access rd and rink dam rd, shiloh church rd) secondary to drugs but I don't see them coming through that area- just knowing some about where her exes family are. But they like to do them coming from Catawba because they sell alchohol and Alex is dry except city limits, and if I'm not mistaken so is Caldwell County except city of lenoir???

Agreed for the most part. I think Caldwell may have undried, lol, in the last year or so, though. Let me take a look and see, because it is a very relevant point- where cops are known to stop motorists for suspected DUI's or license checks.
BRB.

ETA: I can't find a direct link. I'm thinking Caldwell may serve in restaurants, but not have an ABC board. Could totally be wrong. Will ask a local cop.

Snipped

Caldwell county is not dry. Alcohol can be sold throughout the county, it is not limited to the city of Lenoir. Sorry just wanted to clarify that.

I have started a new thread. Please continue here:
