I don't think they weigh much more than five pounds or so, but I guess you could use one along with other things to weight something down. Or there was some kind of scuffle and it just happened to fall overboard and sink...
That is a little odd...the newspaper articles also indicate the UID is male. I wonder if he was somehow coded wrong in LE's system at some point leading them to compare him to missing females? The Tampa Police Department is listed as the contact, I guess we could reach out to them and clarify...
She doesn't have any exclusions listed...sometimes LE makes the exclusion list private (so you can't see it even if you're logged in) so it's possible that's the case but I'm logged into NamUs and there are none that I can see.
The 1995 article in her NamUs file has an interview with her mother that is heartbreaking...sadly there is very little info about the case online. I hope her family can get some answers.
An article from the February 18, 1997, "Madisonville Messenger" newspaper indicates that Charles had been charged with a few crimes that week...hit and run, a couple of drug charges, and carrying a concealed weapon. This would have been about six weeks before he disappeared so I wonder if it had...
This case is so similar to the Patricia Meehan case...she also disappeared after having a car accident and telling the other driver she was fine. Donald disappeared in such a rural area in the winter, if he didn't get a ride with a trucker I don't think he would have been able survive long. The...

From the article: "We are trying to determine if the man was dead before he was put in the car." I wonder if this means they've ruled out the possibility that he got into the car himself? It could just be poor wording, but if someone else put his body in there it could explain why he had no...
It looks like Boston College has an identical set in their collection...they list it as Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel but don't give a date for them, they're just included in "bulk collection 1925 - 1975" which isn't too helpful...
I can see the resemblance but Luke's Charley Project page says he had lost his two front teeth and had false ones...there's no mention of that with this Doe.
(@PiggyHoneycutt : completely unrelated but I love your profile picture)
I know there's been a theory floating around out there for a while that Rusty Branch could be Swimsuit Boy, which means the real Doe is the body that (up until this point) has been identified as Rusty. I can totally see it...Rusty looks so much like the recon for Swimsuit Boy, but what a tragedy...
