NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #5

The photos are not great so not sure many of us could be recognized. But if I’d gunned down a stranger on the streets of NY, my friends and family might be willing to disclose my identity to LE but I seriously doubt they’d be crowing on social media that they recognize the killer. After all, I’m...

I can assure you that thousands of people have come forward to identify him. The problem is that LE has not been able to ID him from the thousands of tips.

<modsnip - quoted post was removed. Following is about why hotels don't give room info to people not registered to the room> It’s about liability in the case of someone escaping an abusive situation and the hotel—potentially—giving the abuser access to the room. Unless a husband or wife is NAMED...

Shouldn’t we just assume he stole the bike?

Has it occurred to anyone that it's a little odd that we haven't heard the name under which he registered at the hostel? Just that alias might ring a bell with someone--we all know friends' bar names or internet IDs. It's unlikely it would be helpful for the masses to know this, but it could be...

For you non-Southerners--you may not know that everyone from the south doesn't sound like Gomer Pyle. The traditional southern accent is much, much less distinctive than it used to be--probably a product of television and travel. A 20-something southerner may or may not be identifiable through...

I think we need to realize that there's not someone sitting in an NYPD office patiently waiting for a phone to ring with one name. LE is currently being totally inundated with names--thousands of them, maybe tens of thousands. They have to sift through the many, many tips they are getting to get...

It’s a civil suit— not a criminal prosecution. No prison time.

The people who believe BT’s wife could be behind the killing because she believes she’s looking at a decrease in Thompson’s assets should the insider trading case go against him need to know that the case would almost certainly continue after his death, with Thompson’s estate substituted for him...

Good thought. And more evidence that this shooting was poorly planned.

I am a little perplexed by all the interest in the Atlanta airport. You know, NY has three really busy airports as well so I see little point in flying into Atlanta, then taking a greyhound to NY—lots more chances to be caught on camera. And, FYIW, a masked young person will stand out a lot more...

Absolutely--I am not convinced that the shooter intentionally targeted Thompson.

Not sure of your point. Mine is that this shooter was clearly NOT prepared to take out multiple security forces. He was lucky to get just one guy.

Because hie weapon was extremely unreliable and jammed at least three times?
