I’m going to join the search tomorrow after a doctor’s appt. <modsnip> Many in this community remember the story of Matt Calder about 5 years ago, which culminated in exactly the same place where this search tomorrow will begin. Praying for a more positive outcome. <modsnip: not an approved...
MOO: I live 10 minutes away and am awed at how the father, a police officer who was focused on juvenile issues, failed to notice that his 17yo son, who had been expelled from HS and then matriculated at a neighboring high school, spent months stalking a girl who lived five blocks away. Her...
I just want to say that I give the parents credit for surviving. I cannot imagine what they are going through, the retrospection, the recriminations, all that had gone on traumatically leading up to that night, the ongoing search, the not knowing. I have three daughters and if this happened...
A question for the neighbors: curious, did you notice a lot of dogs? Were they walking a big pack of dogs? Eight dogs, including five Great Danes, a husky and two others … generally large dogs … I’m typing this looking out my front windows, I can see 5 or six of my neighbors’ houses from this...
The media attention factor is interesting. MOO: if this had been in a larger city, it would’ve been covered more exhaustively. It’s got factors that have historically resulted in more coverage than most (attractive victim, graphic video) but somehow this story didn’t get picked up much outside...
Really strong update on Daniel Penny, btw - got hired back in February by Andreessen Horowitz into a16z, American Dynamism Team. Silicon Valley investments. Think instantly well into the six figures for a brand-new analyst. He will be a very wealthy man.
This scenario got more frequent and more terrifying in the NYC subway system following COVID (where most shelters, which basically act as mental health management centers, never reopened, so the subways became the new shelters except minus all controls and supports) … Daniel Penny case then drew...
MOO: this reads to me like Maryland State Police and all LE involved are taking the path of maximum prudence and discretion while identifying the body, which makes sense relative to a 45-minute ride between the parked car and this discovery. There is a whole narrative of events in between that...
I am just here to gently cheer on Sidney. I don’t know you, but I applaud you for the bravery in posting and in asking about your past, and I think you are entitled to answers. I pray they come your way and I hope your life now is very good and that you are surrounded by love.
Agree totally and your point about policy reasons is true. My hope is that the long-term stability of the verdicts are not endangered by short-term policy, political or pandering reasons.
How great is it to live in a country where the possibility that a little guy died as part of a crime is investigated, rigorously, by people who never knew him and who have nothing to gain through the pursuit aside from trying to get to the truth? … bless them all.
