A track is viable starting here

The track that starts here, faint but obvious when you zoom in.

In fact, Google sat view actually does show a track that starts just to the south of the lay-by and which enters into the moor to the right (east) and then loops north to the walking path you refer to. That leaves a final stretch back down the main road to the car to complete a loop.

Presumably you’d also need to allow for any stoppage time in Barnard Castle if there was a purpose to any visit there. In which case, the 1hr mark might be very relevant.

I’m not sure how much trekking is being done, she is shown in the cctv video prior to arrest wearing a dress and what like light shoes.

If the baby isn’t with them then I’d assume it has perished or is left abandoned following their arrest. I can’t imagine the baby has been placed in the care of a willing third party. If that were the case why on earth would they still be living outdoors in the middle of winter?
