I was curious to see if Dobbins was called as a witness in BG's trial. He apparently told the court that BG once came into his flat, pulled a gun, and "discharged a shot". I don't know if that means it was just a blank, or if it was a real gun. Dobbins had depression and hanged himself in 2001 a...

UK UK - Gareth Williams, 31, Pimlico, London, 16 Aug 2010

Not sure why this is an "Exclusive" as there are no new developments, but it's a decent summary https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14999277/Gareth-Williams-Spy-Bag-mystery-MI6-SIX-glaring-red-flags-murdered.html

UK UK - Ann Heron, 44, found at home with throat cut, Darlington, 3 August 1990

I've read most of this thread I think, and sorry if I've missed it, but what colour/make of car was PH driving on the day of the murder? The car seems crucial, but the answer to this isn't mentioned on the wiki page.

The reports say there was a "missing report relating to Laura in the time before the discovery of her body", it'll be interesting to see why no-one put two and two together. She apparently had two young children so must have had many people missing her.

Greece Greece - Ben Needham, 21 mos, Isle of Kos, 24 July 1991

I don't think they did stop searching when they found the shoe. They carried on but didn't find anything further, the theory being that Ben's body had been moved and the shoe left behind. At the time his mother was certain the shoe was Ben's. The blood on the shoe was sent for DNA testing but I...

Found Deceased Jenny Hall, 23, described as a keen long distance runner, vehicle located on the B2678 between Eggleston & Stanhope, County Durham, Feb 18 2025.

A hoodie and joggers are perfectly normal running gear (I'm a runner). Long distance runners don't always go for long distance runs.

According to the wikipedia article on DBC, the flight crew pretty much ruled out McCoy -

I'd not heard of this witness before either. But a couple of things don't seem right. I don't think anyone else reported a loud gunshot (including RH who was the closest), and he says the police visited him "a short time later" and I think Barry George only became a suspect months later.

Four months on and she still hasn't been identified. So sad that someone can go missing like this and no-one has reported it. https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/almost-four-months-ago-body-29570215

I've not listened to it but I'd be amazed if they had anything new to say.

UK - Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall 'felled overnight', Sept 2023 *arrests*

This was described on the BBC news tonight as possibly the most famous tree in the world. Am I the only person who had never heard of it until it was cut down?

I think it unlikely someone helped him get out of the area where he landed. He wouldn't have known the exact flightpath the plane was going to take so the likely landing zone would have been so uncertain covering dozens of square miles.

GUILTY UK - Brianna Ghey, 16, murdered in Culcheth Linear Park, Feb 2023 *2 teenagers charged*

When I was on a jury at the end of every day the judge told us to go away, go home, and forget about the trial until next time we were in court. I don't know if those are standard directions though.

Out of interest how does the Liverpool Echo get the court transcript? It seems like it's word for word.
