I like the peppers that Costco sells, a bag of 6: 2 yellow, 2 red, 2 orange. I only rarely buy green bell peppers.
I do use diced green peppers when I make homemade pizza, sloppy Joe’s, and for baked stuffed peppers.
My favorite are red bell peppers. The different colors do have different tastes. When I make chili I usually use one each red, yellow, and orange.
When I was growing up my mom used to put diced green bell peppers into salad. I thought they were the most bitter thing ever and could barely...
The Hurst Bean Company is a local, family owned company in Indianapolis. It was founded in 1938 and is still being run by family members, now 3rd and 4th generation.
Hurst is what I use as well.
Hurst has several good recipes on their website:

Since I can’t get out of the house (no snowplows today and a foot of snow). I’ve been baking. Reminds me of COVID when we were all staying inside.
I made butterscotch oatmeal cookies. I use Guittard & Co butterscotch chips. The butterscotch sinks to the bottom of the cookies when they bake...
Garlic bread is one of my favorite foods! When made with fresh garlic, real butter and Italian seasonings. Fresh Parmesan sprinkled on top.
I don’t eat it often, only on special occasions.
Lol I have been snacking all day. I made a big pot of healthy vegetarian chili, chopping up lots of fresh red, yellow, and orange bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, etc. But then I snacked all day while watching the snow fall.
When it gets this cold I have to keep the water running in one of my upstairs bathrooms or the water pipe freezes. We had the unfortunate experience of water pouring down through a light fixture the first year we lived here.
I’ve had a plumber, a contractor, and an insulator out to look at...
It snowed lightly all night and all morning today. The snow is so light it looks like powdered sugar as it is falling, deceptive because it is definitely piling up with at least 8 inches so far. We haven’t seen a snowplow yet.
Overnight temperatures here are going to fall well below zero and...
I remember ba k when I was in elementary school our mom would send soup in our lunches. She put it into thermos soup containers that actually kept it hot until lunch.
My favorite was a Campbell’s Soup thermos that she received free after sending in soup labels to Campbell’s. Back in the early...
I was scheduled to be working in Kentucky but they canceled due to impending weather. I’m glad to be home, we are in the 6-to-12-inch range for snowfall.
The temperature is bitter cold, wind chill is 20 below zero.
I was going to go to Costco today but there were cars lined up in the street...
The northern lights could be visible tonight in much of the country. We are having bitterly cold temperatures tonight, wind chill temperatures well below zero so I’ll be sure to take a thermos of hot chocolate outside with me when I set up my tripod...
I’ve been using parchment paper for all my baking for many years. When I was in my early 20s I worked in a bakery for three months. The bakers used parchment paper for everything: bread, cookies, brownies, rolls etc. Everything that went into the ovens was on parchment paper.
After I left the...
We grew spaghetti squash in our garden one year. They were very prolific and we grew dozens of them from one seed packet.
I cooked a few of them but thought they lacked flavor. We were wondering what we were going to do with dozens of them.
My son, who was around 12 years old at the time, set...
