Just providing some if not evidence, then certainly strong implication, that Ferguson has employed corrupt cops quite recently, and in significant numbers...
Elly Mae please link to data about Michael Brown's "previous runs ins" and "juvie records" which you reference in your post. I haven't seen anything about those.
I just wanted to say that I don't believe that GZ planned to kill TM in cold blood. I do, however, strongly believe that his choices and actions lead directly and unnecessarily to Trayvon's death. I absolutely believe he is morally responsible. Moo
He had one in the car too. He was always losing those things. After awhile I kept one in MY backpack. That was the most humiliating car ever. I'm still scarred by the six months when he could only park it on hills because the starter died!
In my case, another poster asked for "innocent" reasons why a kid might keep a screwdriver in his backpack. I knew of one so I gave it.
I, myself, am inclined to believe Trayvon's given reason. I have no reason or need to do otherwise. Did this friend aquire this jewelry nefariously? I have no...

My teen-aged boyfriend (way back in the dark ages) used to use a screwdriver to start his incredibly junky car. If he didn't have it in his backpack all the time we would never have gotten out of the high school parking lot.

This is not a good comparison, though. How many houses are on your cul de sac? Six? Ten? Twenty? The Retreat at Twin Lakes has more than 200 homes, many of them rental properties in a frequent state of flux. That is conservatively 500 people. I find it hard to believe that GZ knew all of them...
