I agree. Why all the venom aimed at LE for this press conference? No they didn't solve this case, but neither did the websleuths community or anyone else for that matter! Don't they have the right to be elated just like the rest of us? They've been working round the clock for months, and have a...
Check out how similar the digital/DNA composite is when you put it side by side with the high school senior photo (keep in mind the crime was committed roughly seven years later when he was married and 25 years old). Some impressive work with the rendering and genealogy DNA work to crack this case.
Great news! Similar methodology as the Golden State killer case. Parabon NanoLabs did DNA phenotyping leading to the genealogy of Burns.
This technology is going to continue to be a difference maker in many cases!
Press Conference: Arrest made in Michelle Martinko case
New Gazette story featuring Michelle Martinko. I haven't followed the case closely, but lived in CR at the time:
Michelle Martinko was killed 39 years ago, but investigators aren't giving up finding who did it
Just trying to catch up, but what struck me about the obit from an analysis standpoint is that it plainly states that Denise was preceded in death by James. That might seem like an inconsequential statement, or an obvious fact for those of us that have reviewed this case. But if James was shot...
If we extrapolate further on the "restraints" theory regarding the chair. We have no idea what the purpose for restraining a Closs family member would be, or how long or sturdy those restraints were intended to last. For example, perhaps there is only one PERP and he needed to temporarily...
Here's a closeup. The two prevailing theories being "damage" or "LE tags".
Protrusions (speculated splinters) are rigid when the chair moves up and down in video, unlike the ties that flap around as it's carried.
911 call traced to phone of missing Wisconsin girl's mother, authorities say - CNN
FWIW I'm mostly playing devil's advocate because obviously LE has been very careful about what information they release. But even carrying out a mattress in plain sight has implications that are open to interpretation by the public. For example, part of the crime must have happened in a Closs...
I believe the simplest explanation is cushion ties, but I'm just curious why they wouldn't carry it out? It appears to have damage/evidence from a bullet or perhaps the result of an altercation visible (speculation). How is it different from other pieces carried out in plain sight, doors...
I tend to agree with the weight of the rope/string and the lightweight chair are good arguments against these being restraints. I originally posted the overused Occam's razor point with this chair. The simplest explanation is that they're cushion or decorative ties of some sort. But the knots...
Yes, it's inconclusive at best. Why would there be one tie remaining that appears like it's possibly tied to the interior spindle, not the corner one? See the blue circle. Here's a compilation of similar ties I posted earlier.
In the very early threads there was a suggestion by someone (sorry I forgot who) that the front left of the chair had LE ID tags, not damage or splintered wood. I conceded that it's possible that the protrusions could be something like a zip ties as opposed splinters, but IMO those protrusions...
