Italy’s Highest Appeals Court to Decide Amanda Knox’s Fate

The Kerchers had a civil case that was running concurrent to AK and RS trials. IIRC, they were awarded at least a million euros each.

Italy’s Highest Appeals Court to Decide Amanda Knox’s Fate

Unfortunately, there is a great deal about Rudy Guede's trials that is not known. According to Nina Burleigh, his trial records are sealed. The reports from his trials can be found here. It's important to remember, though, that no one with standing at RG's trials had any interest in NOT...

Italy’s Highest Appeals Court to Decide Amanda Knox’s Fate

I think that the idea that someone can detect lies by watching video snippets is pure bunk. The human mind is quite susceptible to confirmation bias, IMHO. We tend to see information that agrees with things we have already decided are true, and tend not to see things that challenge our...

Italy’s Highest Appeals Court to Decide Amanda Knox’s Fate

AK and RS had known each other for six days at the time of Meredith's murder. That's not enough time to establish anything as a regular occurrence.

Italy’s Highest Appeals Court to Decide Amanda Knox’s Fate

If they rule her human rights are violated, I believe Italy's laws would require the verdict to be quashed/ case reopened. I will have to look for the specific case law. I believe that this is what will happen, and Italy will find itself with a case of caunnia where the entirety of the evidence...

Italy’s Highest Appeals Court to Decide Amanda Knox’s Fate

I think that the Italian Justice system has some serious issues. The length of time is only one issue illustrated in this case. The laws against calunnia have a chilling effect on journalists. I hope that they can make progress on these things.

Italy’s Highest Appeals Court to Decide Amanda Knox’s Fate

I predict that all of these satellite trials -- against her, her family, and journalists et al -- will all quietly disappear. As they should.

AK is still convicted of calunnia -- this is the count that Hellmann upheld. She has an appeal currently still in front of the ECHR. I predict that this will also be overturned.

Wow... I thought that they would kick the can down the road and order another trial, or go for a United sections review. I am pleasantly surprised. Glad to see some sanity in the Italian courts.

CONVICTION OVERTURNED MD - Hae Min Lee, 17, Baltimore, 13 Jan 1999

I find myself firmly undecided on whether I think Adnan is guilty or innocent. Of course, the other question is if he should have been convicted. On that, I think that I am more inclined towards the side that he should not have been convicted. I also find myself looking more at this from the...

CONVICTION OVERTURNED MD - Hae Min Lee, 17, Baltimore, 13 Jan 1999

Nice to see others are also obsessed with this podcast. I look forward to a new episode every Friday. I have family living very close to where this happened, so I am somewhat familiar with the area. Really looking forward to next week's episode about Jay. Perhaps the deal he got for his...

They say now that they thought this immediately. Yet they didn't bother to actually document the signs which caused them to think so.

Amanda Knox tried for the murder of Meredith Kercher in Italy *NEW TRIAL*#11

I guess I am trying to understand the perspective of someone who believes them guilty. As I see it, there are a few tenets of this belief that I am interested in exploring. Things like the "staged" break in. What convinces you it was staged? Is there specific evidence that sways you, or is...
