Yes, I agree that something seems not quite right to me too. I also get the feeling that there has been someone always bailing him out, keeping a lid on the crazy, but basically it's like a time bomb waiting to explode. Just a feeling I get.

If, by "used", you mean selectively and with little reference to what was going on (in any way that is of use to the jurors) then yes I agree, it was "used".

I couldn't agree more! But honestly, could you not come up with oh, let's say ANYTHING other than the story he came up with? He sure had long enough to think it all through...sheesh. One positive for poor Allison, GBC couldn't pull it off.
