I'm sure someone here can remember this better than me but there was a case ( I can't remember which but it was not in AZ) where a juror was removed during deliberations, replaced by an alternate and the deliberations had to begin anew. Wish I could remember which trial that was but I honestly...
Seems to me, the judge could have resolved this when she was passed a note from the other 11 jurors detailing the problem. I'd venture to say, judges need to resolve such issues immediately and within the spirit of the law. It is a juror's sworn duty to deliberate, refusal needs to be met with...
ElleElle - I wallow in sarcasm, she wasn't confused, not in the least. :)
I agree with you, she got emotional over something, bulled up and refused to listen or to deliberate.

How in Hades does a person qualify to be a DP juror if their religion is opposed to it ? Does that not automatically make the juror anti death penalty, provided they actually practice their religion? This is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Are lawyers and the court not...
I believe Juror 17 was confused. Revenge is what the murderess imposed upon Travis simply because he became aware that he simply did not need her in his life and had the grace to forgive her lying evil self.
Somehow I don't believe justice was granted today, not to Travis, nor to his family. There is but one chance remaining for a semblance of justice to be granted. Judge Stephens has the last say in this matter, here's hoping she has the thoughtfulness, the strength, and the moral fiber to ensure...
Thanks AZLawyer for clarifying that for me. Good to know, I hope the jurors take advantage of reviewing some materials as some testimonials are quite telling.
Sorry, I have not kept up with this re-trial of the penalty phase but my question is, does this jury have the opportunity to review materials from the trial ?
Sheriff Joe better make sure he takes away all her stuff before sentencing, especially paper. Don't want her to slit her wrists before she hears her fate :)
I think the last jury, at least the "fatherly" male juror, pretty much confirmed this last time around. Jurors unfortunately are not exempt from having personal motivations no matter what they say.
