I am only tangentially familiar with the case but it seemed like it was always bound to end like this, with the father not surrendering (and the children being alive is the best case scenario). They are going to need a lot of support and therapy.

I know basically nothing about this case and I have no idea where to start. Wikipedia is not providing me with potential motives and news articles also say BK had no obvious motive.

I thought the general rule has always been that once you see people being cruel to animals, they are generally more than capable of exhibiting cruelty towards humans as well.
