Gene Hackman dead at 95: Iconic actor and wife, 63, are found dead with their dog at Santa Fe home.

Re: Cell phone coverage. If the cell service were unreliable, wouldn’t they have a landline? Most older people resist relying solely on cell phones, anyway. We have a home in an area where coverage can be a bit tricky and still prone to storm damage outages (although it’s getting better because...

*butting in* I forget where now, so take with a grain of salt, but I had read that, too. It was when the news had just broken, and there were fewer facts but more rumors floating around. Not saying it’s true (at all!), just that the rumor was out there.

A few thoughts. In the clip of the call that I heard on the news, the caller said there were two bodies. I can understand him seeing a body in the mud room, through a window, but would he have seen someone in a bathroom? In our house, it’s possible to look through some first floor windows and...

NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #7 *Arrest*

My opinion is that he might have wanted to go back to Japan. There are photos of him there, and his social media seems to show an affinity/fascination with the country and culture.

Just announced by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch: Suspect name is Luigi Mangione. His X account is still live.

Was going to chime in with this. Thank you for bringing receipts. One of my kids is a paramedic in a major upstate city, and allowed to wear a bulletproof vest while working. IIRC, first responders with certifications are exempt from this prohibition.

I’ve only seen reporting that describes their interaction as “flirting”. I’ve not seen direct quotes or anything even paraphrased. I’m particularly interested in this aspect of the story, and IMO, she has been instructed not to give any interviews to the media.

THANK YOU for this. We saw this interview on local Fox5 morning show and contradicts the clip of the shooter coming up out of the subway shortly before the shooting.

<modsnip - off topic> And that the DNA is essentially insignificant in this case because he may not be in a database, and neither is his family. IMO, some families/religions/cultures would never submit their DNA to a corporation willingly. Some have no doubt of their family origins, MOO.

Agree with this 100%. The Tommy Hilfiger stuck out as a throwaway.

Same! I’m especially intrigued by what, if anything, he said to the hostel clerk who he flirted with. Did he have an accent? Someone in that job might ask about what a guest might be planning to do in the city, or answer questions about places to go, etc. I wonder if he asked any significant...

Sorry to poke holes in your theory, but that’s pretty elaborate? New Yorkers don’t mess with abandoned luggage/bags. We leave it alone and if it looks especially sketchy, report it to authorities. Nobody wants to touch something that could be a booby trap or explosives or body parts, or get...

Completely guessing here, but perhaps if the case involves two states or crossing state lines, a kidnapping falls under federal jurisdiction?

Other cases of women who went missing in an alarming way and were found alive later are: Sherri Papini,Heather Mounce, rescued from the side of a steep cliff, Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther, went missing on her due date. In all of these cases, there was underlying reason that these women disappeared...

Looking at the footage of LE searching the site, I was surprised to see how high the grass was. Some of it was shoulder-high to a German shepherd. IMO it would be difficult to see a toddler in the grass clearly. One might see a little shape bobbing around, but not the whole outline of a human...
