This made me incredibly uneasy. Cannot believe a mother would do this to her own daughter!

Lauryn Licari is being bullied online. She gets harassing messages everyday. Guess who is behind it? Her own mother, Kendra Licari.
WHAT?!?

The damage of a mother doing this to her daughter is life altering. The daughter says she wants to re-establish a relationship with her mom but I would urge her to go slowly with that and keep it shallow. Her mom is proven to be untrustworthy and has betrayed her already. Don't get close, would be my advice, and consider a complete cut-off.

It really is astonishing isn't it!
That's the thing with ones "Mother" for some, no matter how she treated us, we still keep her in our life! That young girl has had the most horrific experience at the hands of hers, her mother at times suggesting she takes her own life! 😳 And imagine the shock to find out that mother was behind all of that online abuse, whilst offering "support and comfort" in the flesh!! And still the young lady wants her mother in her life!
Hopefully with some therapy she will realise how damaged her mother must be to be able to do this and hopefully cut her off!

Such a heartbreaking and baffling case.

I remember watching a LifeTime movie based on a case similar to this.

From what I remember the mom doesn't want to be alone or want her daughter leaving to go to college, so sabotages her daughters life to keep her daughter "needing" her, mom is eventually caught and goes to jail. I can't find it but it's not the 2008 movie.

When I tell you how my flabber was ghasted after watching this over the weekend.

What a sick individual Kendra is. And her excuses about how everybody makes mistakes just some of them haven't been caught doing it. Um, minimize much lady?

And her excuse that rape trauma made her humiliate, shame, bully and terrorize her own daughter to somehow protect her from the same and keep her from growing up? GMAFB.

This wasn't cyber Munchausen IMO. This was a woman who was jealous of her own daughter and wanted her daughter's boyfriend in a sick sick way.

And finally, No, she was the stalker the whole time, she didn't just start at some point because she hoped to draw out of her victims who their original stalker was. Ludicrous.

Watching Kendra cling to and pet her daughter as the sheriff was telling the girl her own mother had texted all those horrific things to her was so disturbing it made my skin crawl.

And the love bombing messages from prison after made me almost as uncomfortable.

Just so gross, the whole thing made me want a shower.

Yeah saw the documentary and yes it is crazy but I often don't take Netflix documentaries as gospel. They are still telling a story. Not saying they make stuff up but they often do leave things out of it goes against the story they are telling in the show.

I wonder how many of these cyberbullying cases in which the bully turned out to be the victim's own parent(s), family member, or relative.

There are some instances. In many cases when it does happen though the parent is doing it because in their delusional minds they are trying to help the kids. I think most of the parents in this situation have a mental illness.

Other situations where parents harm their children they are doing it not so much because of hate towards the kids. But hate towards the individual that they had the kids with.

In this situation it wouldn't surprise me if the whole family was involved with the conspiracy.

The documentary was edited for the sake of 'hiding the plot twist', which also prevented any real character establishment and assessment to be made with depth and seriousness. Realistically, it's obvious the mother and daughter were in cahoots and the dad also knew everything.

Yep. If you want to take a documentary about true crime seriously it's probably better to watch something like 48 hours. Places like Netflix are still trying to tell the best story they can even if they are dealing with true events. Perfectly fine to watch Netflix documentaries. I sure do and many of them are really well done. But instead of taking everything it said literally it's probably better to start looking into it yourself instead of assuming Netflix was trying to be a 100% honest with you.

Sounds about right.

The messages started the day the daughter’s boyfriend was about to go to a Halloween party at the house of a friend of his that the girl didn’t like. Those messages were TO LAURYN in the lines of ‘Owen doesn’t like you, he likes me, we’re gonna hook up tonight’. That’s the sort of fake stuff an insecure teen would send to herself and then confront her boyfriend all like ‘who was this??’ to make sure he won’t cheat on her.

Lauryn’s mom Kendra also had a TI background and is what we experts call ‘absolute batshit crazy’, so Kendra helped her with those texts. They only resumed months later when Lauryn got some other reason to be insecure about her relationship, and by then Kendra was also super involved with Owen’s family who were like small town royalty. So they started with texts against Lauryn, blatantly attacking her, all for the sake of Owen paying her compliments and reassuring her she was beautiful etc.

But they messed up when they started texting Owen to test him directly as well, and Owen’s parents got involved, then the school got involved, then every text was an amateurish attempt to cover their tracks and point to other teenagers. A simple reason for why would Kendra say that kind of stuff to her daughter would be: she knew the daughter wouldn’t take it seriously, she was in on the con.

The escalation in the aggressive tone was premeditated to make the daughter seem even more like a victim and Kendra like someone who could never be behind it (you can bet plenty of people suspected them). And they kept pushing for red herrings: maybe it was Khloe; now it’s too obvious we’re pointing to Khloe, let’s point to Adrianna. And also as long as the story kept going, Lauryn and Kendra would stay connected to Owen's family etc etc.

Lauryn is a victim just like Gypsy Rose Blanchard, but Gypsy Rose Blanchard was also damaged by her upbringing in ways that turned her into a dangerous, cunning, manipulative person. I have empathy for Lauryn, but the image of the documentary that she was 100% oblivious and still is... well, there's a lot more to this.
Where is this information from please?

I just finished watching this, and the footage of Kendra there in their home when the police arrived… as she is being faced with the truth, sitting next to Lauren, and then her husband walks into the home… she never admits it fully, does not take responsibility… but watches.
She tries to comfort her daughter? From the trauma she caused- sick.

Who is this woman, really? She claims she is helping her daughter? No, she is a witch

She is a pathological liar, an attention seeker, willing to sacrifice her marriage and daughter, manipulation, lies, selfishness.
Willingly she attacked them, destroyed her daughter and Owen, and another girl, and tinkered in their young lives, financial lives of her marriage, for what?
It is the utmost sickness, psychopathy? A mother becomes the mean girl? She is jealous of her own daughter?

A mother told her own daughter to kill herself. She caused the trauma and then sat back and watched her cruelty in action.

I’ve been around teachers that take on the mentality of the children or teens they teach, never grow up, like the power and manipulation. What a sick twisted person who thinks she needs that much attention.

It is possible the family may forgive her more than she deserves, as she has done nothing but make up excuses. It is all about her- she made choices to hurt people and it is sick.
If fear for Lauren, and hope she and her father and Owen can support each other and mend their own minds and hearts and get away from Kendra- forever.

I didn’t get the vibe or evidence that the father or daughter were involved at all.

It seems they called it a documentary, it was too short and left out a great deal of the story.
The mom developed fake profiles of kids at the high school on several social media platforms. What is brought out is that the mom, Kendra, is an attention seeker, had always been, and was jealous of her own daughter, and had a twisted relationship with the daughter’s boyfriend Owen. The number of text messages she sent was over 325,000!
It was like Munchausen Syndrome by proxy- the mom wanted the daughter to have issues so she would come to her for help, so she could be involved in her life.
Kendra needed to get her own life, she was like a mean girl at 15 who grows up to be jealous of her own child and can’t handle the success, popularity, and
She was goading her own daughter to kill herself, over a period of months, and months.
Annie Elise- Seriously

The FBI was involved and the mother went to jail and no contact with her daughter when she got out. If the father and daughter had been involved- the FBI would have figured that out, and it would have been mentioned.

Annie Elise on Seriously says Kendra threw Lauryn under the bus, she told the police that she could be texting herself to manipulate Owen, for sympathy.
Annie Elise Seriously

I didn’t gather than Lauryn or her father Shawn was involved. I gathered that Kendra was attacking her own daughter, her boyfriend, and framing their friends.
