Ok how about this. We have her admitting buying the gas can at Walmart that day, there is a recieipt. she claims she returned it for cash shortly after, like an hour.

Juan said Walmart has confirmed that on that day, the Walmart in Salinas did NOT issue any refund, cash or otherwise for any gas can.

Jodi said Walmart is wrong

Not really. Juan asked if it would surprise her if Walmart had no gas can returns that day, and she said yes it would surprise her. Juan implied that he has seen a record of returns from Walmart that day, but you have to understand that attorneys throw out questions like that sometimes just to get a reaction or to make a certain implication for the sake of the jury.

Think about the way Juan has handled the case so far -- he doesn't throw out questions like that in advance, he just brings in the evidence and lets it speak for itself without giving Jodi a chance to explain it away.

I really don't know right now --I'm anticipating a bombshell, but right now it's just a suggestion. I do hope there's more. And I hope there's more about the magazine codes as well.

I'm not convinced. She may not be the most clever criminal ever, but I find it difficult to believe she would lie about something so easily disproven with documentary evidence. She knew they had her bank records.

I'm not ruling it out either. I hope Juan has some follow up to make this point crystal clear.

I don't think Jodi is clever at all either but I do think she would lie about something easily disproven with evidence. For example she lied to Detective Flores for hours/days even when he could easily prove she had been there at Travis' house. And by then she knew they had hair, bloody palmprint and nude pictures.

And I'm not convinced her denying being in SLC is intentional. She has no clue where she is, she admits being in Sandy, then Jordan where Ryan lives. She has to then go up then left to head through Nevada to get home to California. She does that by driving barely through SLC.. a bit, she probably didn't even realize that...

This is Walmart's policy regarding a return without a receipt, if she didn't use it:

No receipt? No problem
We do accept returns without a receipt. You will have the option of a cash refund (if the purchase was under $25), a shopping card for the amount of the purchase (if it was over $25) or an even exchange for the product. Also, as applicable, we follow any manufacturer’s warranties.

But, there would still be a record of that return and that is what matters. There is no record of the return.

Also on Walmart's return policy "You can make up to three No Receipt returns within a 45 day period."
Which means they REALLY track no receipt returns, I assume by license? I have had to use ID/license to make returns at some big stores (maybe Kohl's or Target, I forget) when I didn't have a receipt. But to me, it would make absolutely no sense since she clearly had the receipt, why wouldn't she use the receipt to do the return? In that case, they would still track the return?
My other thought is.. why did she keep the receipt for the gas can at all if she was going to say she returned it?? I don't know why she didn't just throw out the receipt, since it was a cash transaction there would be no paper trail of the Walmart trip, correct? I just don't really understand why she had the receipt in the end, there wasn't anything tax deductible... 2 things of face wash, 2 things of sunscreen and a gas can. Did she keep the receipt just as an alibi since it was June 3rd?

That's a good point. She does lie about the most inconsequential things, and really, what has she got to lose at this point?

If you look at the video, the mark that looks like a minus sign is in blue and is slightly crooked. There is also a blue mark in the next line. I think they are notations made by the Pros team.

The statement was thru' June 30th. Didn't she fly in for Travis's memorial service and then one of his friends picked her up at the airport? I'm not sure when the service was, but could that flight be the Priceline charge?

The priceline charge says PLN - Pricelinesomethin - AIR which seems to me to be an airline ticket. Her charge for the car is several lines above "Budget Rental car".

I saw her on an interview (? which one) but it was before I started following this case, where she says she researched where to rent the car via Priceline. It stuck in my mind since I associate them with flights/hotels/cruises but not rental cars...
