SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- A 106-year-old widow and her 30-year-old caretaker died together in an apparent suicide pact at the home they shared, police said.

Witnesses told homicide detectives that Godet, who never had children, and Lund had been inseparable after meeting nine years ago. Lund slept on the sofa in Godet's house.

"I was told they had a different kind of relationship -- platonic, but affectionate," Maffei said.

I will offer an opinion. He was a moocher with no skills and relied on her social security checks to live. She , obviously, was fading shortly into obscurity at her age and he felt he had no other option. He had sponged what he could and didn't see another patsy so this is the end result.
