Oh you have to go to Disneyland at least once.

Most of these issues are all manageable. I've been to D'land so many times and the worst that happened was grumpy kids at 2 am! We have had a lot of fun there. It is smart to take precautions, but sad to let fears keep you from things.
When my kids were small, I just would check the bathroom first make sure it was empty and then keep anyone from goin in until my kids were done. It was only a rare man that was put off when I woldn't let him go in. They would either wait and chat and tell me about when their kids were little or they would go to another restroom. No big deal. Can't pull that off at D'land..but just bring a man or another child to buddy up with.
You are right JBean
We can't let our fears run our lives...

Theme parks aren't really my idea of fun anyway lol...you made me laugh, have to go at least once, how many times have you been there?
How many is 'so many times'
How much does it cost to get in? just for curiousity sake
Once will certainly be enough for me lol lol, it wasn't on my list of 'things to do' when I visit the states :p

hey missnarla

Honestly? Once is enough for anyone! I have been many times, because when you live near it as I do, when visitors come and stay..they all want to go to Disneyland! I used to take the kids when they were little, but it is too crowded for me now. 2 of my little nephews came to stay with their favorite Aunty JBean last year and we went amusement park hopping.
We went to D'land and honestly the crowds were so awful we left after 25 minutes!
I used to really love all parks, especially 6 flags and rollercoasters, but I do not care so much anymore. Maybe I just loved it because the boys were young and THEY loved it.

I hate crowds too narla..but my DH LOVES them:bang: I like to go on rainy days because everyone else stays home.
I should mention that residents usually can get discounted tickets at D'Land. back in the day we could buy season passes for the kids at like 100 bucks each! For the whole year! It was a great deal.
Six Flags is a series of theme parks all over the country. Ours is 6 Flags Magic Mountain. When I take the boys to see my mom in Illinois we go to the 6 Flags Great America in Gurnee.

Good deal for the season pass!

Yeah you guys are certainly big on those theme parks :D

I live really close to one too.

The biggest in Oz I think but I could be wrong...maybe the one in Sydney is bigger than the one in Queensland...you think I'd know lol.
I've been to both, they're both big :p
Dreamworld the one in Queensland, is the home of Big Brother too.
That's where the house is so I've been to a couple of the eviction shows there....

I have never raced a camel lol

I think it is big in the outback...like in places like Birdsville.....way out in the middle of nowhere.

Did your friend like it lol

She did like it, but she is a mama now. I'll have to find out exactly where she is there. I haven't talked to her in a couple years.

Cripes what a hijack.

I should clearify.. DisneyLAND is in California DisneyWORLD (where this happend is in FLorida)

I don't want to falsley accuse one for what the other does.

As for the bathroom thing... having 3 boys makes it easier to send them on the buddy system... But If I have one alone with me I have been known to clear out the mens room.
I will make sure the room is empty and then stand guard until they are done.
Or the Ladies room whichever is empty. Bottom line if my child is in there NOONE else is going to be.

Speaking of Disney and bathrooms ... This is kind of funny (now)....
My sister use to work for Disney so we took the children (my 2 youngest and my neice) to Disney.. My youngest ,now 10, was 3 or 4 at the time I think.
SO I take him to the restroom and did not even think the explain the autoflush feature ..
WOW was he traumatized for a good long time after that... . It flushed and HE FREAKED!!!
Poor baby was really scared and it caused some potty issues for a few months after.

Hi Amraann

Thanks for the advice about the toilets, that's what I will do...go in there check it out and keep guard!
Thanks also for the clarification on the Disney LAND and WORLD, I forgot about that!
My little boy knows where all the best rides are there, apparently your biggest roller coaster is in Cedar Park in Ohio and that also has the most roller coasters in one park in the world!

Now I don't recall hearing this on the news but it was pretty common knowledge in Florida about 10-11 years ago that people were abducting children from Disney. They would snatch some child drug them and take them into a bathroom and alter their appearance.. For example take a little girl cut off her hair put a pair of sunglasses and a baseball capon her and walk the child right out of the park or carry. ( aww look the park tired HIM out so Daddy is carrying him, isn't that sweet?)
I believe after that Disney implimented some safetly precautions.

This brought back memories. I never heard this myself but the day before I was taking my 2 children (aged 6 & 4) to Disneyland on my own someone told me about this. They said it was Disneyland (and it was 15 years ago.) Now reading your post, this person that told me must have got it mixed up.

Anyways, I was a nervous wreck because of it. One day I lost site of my son and screamed for him and he was standing right beside me!

I can't remember exactly but I think at that time you had to show your ticket stubs when leaving the main gates. So maybe both (world & land) adopted the same procedure. Anyways, it didn't help us because we were staying at the Disneyland Hotel on site.
