He was charged with assaulting an officer. That doesn't mean he was guilty. Same with the domestic violence incident. If anything came of it, he wouldn't legally be able to own a gun.

And this was all what, 7 years ago?

Don't you have to admit guilt for a pretrial diversion program?

I think George Zimmerman is capable of that. He wouldn't be the first person to do that. Self-inflict his injuries, then try to blame it on an attacker...

I think that's much less likely than GZ's accounting of what happened imo.

Because Trayvon fought back?

I think that argument is specious based on all of the witness testimony and Trayvon having made no mention of a gun while he was on the phone with his girlfriend. She didn't even indicate he was surprised about anything. I know if some dude randomly pulled a gun on me, I'd have some choice words.

You can't retreat when someone is straddling you, pounding on your face. That's where plain 'ol self defense comes in.

Yes. I agree. But I think that should be decided in court. IMO, a case that involves the death of an unarmed civilian must be properly investigated. And I think the "stand your ground" legislation makes it easier for LE to just walk away from something like this and not pursue the rigorous investigation (bullet trajectory, blood splatter, etc.) required to prove (or disprove) self defense claims. JMO and IANAL.

No, you do not. And the state of Florida does not expunge convictions.

snipped by me, respectfully

This is a very recent picture:

And what is the date for GZ's pic? We just don't know, to assume that the pictures are used for some nefarious reason is a stretch. IMO :twocents: :moo:

Is the one supposed to be a yearbook picture? It's been a while since high school, but from what I recall, yearbooks didn't come out until the end of the school year.

So you're telling me that while Trayvon was beating Zimmerman to a pulp, punching him and slamming his head into the ground repeatedly, he tried to grab Zimmerman's gun from his waistband? That makes sense? The only thing that makes sense is that what started the altercation was Trayvon seeing Zimmerman had a gun!

So, where does the Stand Your Ground law apply to TM? Was he not entitled to this same right? Walking down the street? Doing nothing wrong? I would think he was standing his ground and was killed for it. jmo

It looks like a student ID. JMO

No it looks more like a school id. If you look toward the top, there appears to be a clip of some kind.

Because when he seen the gun his reaction was the pushing and struggling she heard? Do you think he had time to tell his girlfriend... Yo, he's got a gun? No, he reacted! Like every normal person would when confronted by a man with a gun who had been following them.

Or Zimmerman drew the gun while he was being pummeled, and Martin grabbed it. Hence the retarded slide actuation. That is what makes the most sense to me, based on evidence present.

Zimmerman outweighed Trayvon by 100 pounds, he was armed, and he was in a vehicle. He had no reason to fear for his life. Had he stayed in the vehicle, even if Trayvon was running at him, he still would have been safe. His cause for concern according to the 911 call? Trayvon was walking in the rain (hence the hoodie), looking around. Oooh, how scary and suspect. He confronted that kid. That kid probably tried to run when he saw he was being followed, especially since he was so close to home. Did Zimmerman get in his way? Is that the "attack" he speaks of, Trayvon trying to run past him? Zimmerman never identified himself as Neighborhood Watch on the 911 call (although he did identify the kid as a "coon"), so I'm sure that poor kid just thought he was about to get mugged or robbed or killed.

Today in the paper a friend of the Zimmerman family reports that Zimmerman had cried for days over the whole thing. I'm sure he did. It's not a game anymore. It's all very real, a kid is dead, and he may go to prison for a very long time. Of course he's remorseful. But I'm not sure he's remorseful about the right thing.

He had every reason to fear for his life according to the witness and police reports. He was beaten and at one point Trayvon was on top of him during the fight. Plus, if TM wanted to escape, couldn't he outrun the husky GZ? I believe TM jumped GZ as he and the police have claimed. It makes the most sense.

No, I didn't mean to his girlfriend. I mean to Zimmerman. "Hey, man, WTF?!" "Dude, WTF?!" "Don't shoot!" "Why do you have a gun?!" "WTF?!"

I know I wouldn't say nothing when surprised by something with that magnitude.

Yearbooks yes, but school pictures (the ones that are taken that end up in the yearbook) come back within a couple of weeks for those who purchased packages.

Can you explain this to me?

So my question again would be:

If you were being watched, followed, confronted and you seen that the person had a gun... what would you do?

I would more than likely say "*****" and then proceed to do it... :blushing:

Seriously though.. I'm not sure what I would do.. I have my CC permit and have a pistol with me more often than not.. I hope I never have to actually use it but if my life or my kids lives were in danger .. you can bet your butt that I would not hesitate... That is probably not the answer most of you guys like .. but that's me..

Call 911 did Trayvon do this?

God, I would hate for you all to see my 17-year-old nieces mean-muggin' faces on her facebook page? I'm glad that classifies her as a bad kid? I'll have to call her mother.

That's not what this is about. It's about the media posting pics to lead people to believe things about TM and GZ, namely that TM was angelic and GZ was evil. A mugshot of GZ being circulated everywhere vs. sweet looking (and arguably altered) pics of TM. It's about manipulating public opinion by showing one person at their worst and the other at their best imo.

The weapon was recovered with an empty chamber and a fully loaded magazine. This implies that the weapon's slide did not fully blow back, most likely because something retarded its movement. The slide went back far enough to eject the casing, but not to actually catch the next round from the magazine and load it into the chamber.
