lol

You're saying that many minority members of the NCAA and NBA are not thuggish?

I'd beg you to take another look.

I never mentioned the NBA in any form...however, I could never describe ANY of them as thuggish, no. Speaking only in terms of the ones that I have some personal knowledge of....NONE of them are "thugs" in any way. They are smart, well-behaved, motivated students who play a college sport. How they dress or having a tattoo does not define them. Their actions and skills define them, and I have been more than impressed by many of them.

Yes, as far as we know.....and we don't KNOW anything, all we can do is extropolate based on the behavior of the two participants and color it with our own experience of how humans behave....

It says a lot that the police are going with GZ's story, and that eyewitnesses corroborate it imo.

That is version 4.2 I think. Who knows who the unnamed authority is. It could be Zimmerman's lawyer or friend he talked to.

Well it matches the police report (submitted ~7 hours after the shooting. It is the 6 or 7 page PDF already posted) as well as several witness statements, including the girlfriend of Trayvon (when he said that he had lost George).

Your link is a Statement from Sanford PD. My link is a statement from Florida Department of juvinile justice.

And I'm not sure how they're releasing that information when it's all confidential.

Again, it's not just the hoodie. Geraldo has made the hoodie into the sole issue. That's not it.

but it IS the hoodie in part?

It actually said just a paragraph down in the article:

Which would imply it did actually contain an illicit substance at one point.

The school said "suspected". Why did the family spokesperson not say suspected. I don't know. Other things I don't know, was the baggie ever tested, did it ever contain pot while Trayvon possessed it, did Trayvon smoke or ingest any pot that may have been in the baggie, did Trayvon find the baggie on the ground and view it as litter and intend to toss it out when he passed a trash can? Furthermore I cannot get too worked up over a suspension triggered by an empty baggie in a school with a zero tolerance policy for paraphernalia. A child is dead. Moo

I respectfully disagree. If he is not charged he has every right to finish his schooling and have a career in law enforcement.

After THIS? God forbid. Seriously. I'm all for him finishing his education but I think he might need to change his major.

fwiw, I am not biased at all because I sincerely respect the points made by both sides of this issue. This has been a very eye-opening discussion and, understandbly, emotions are running high. I appreciate those of you who care enough to feel so passionate about whatever side of the fence you are standing on.

I agree with all you said. All teenagers wear hoodies too. Seeing a teen boy at night in a hoodie scares me regardless of race. I would also like to see a recent picture of the boy. The picture in the media is not of a 17 year old.

I heard this morning that the black panters had offered a 10,000 dollar reward to anyone who can find Zimmerman. This has gone way too far especially since the same thing happens all over every night. I am over it, I hope justice is served, but in a court of law and not on the streets. And Obama needs to take care of our country and get out of this. The news, the pres, all this has made it racial. I am so sorry for T's mother and father. Have they even had a funeral for him yet? jmo

Three normal guys who all wear hoodies

My mom is a 56-year-old White woman and she loves rap! She especially like Eminem, who I can't stand, and I love Outkast, Goodie Mob, etc...

So do I and so does Martha Stewart. lol. Her appearance with Snoop Dog is hysterical.

Then perhaps they would not be conceived as thuggish if they did not dress as thugs? That is something that is solely their choice. If they do not want to be associated with gangster rap and with the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 culture it embraces, then they should not portray themselves as being a part of it. This applies for all races. A white person dressing the same way gives off the same impression.

You can act like stereotypes don't exist, but they do. When someone dresses in a way that makes it seem that they support a lifestyle of crime, why should someone not be at least a little unnerved around them? Yes, they have the right to dress how they want to, but there is little room for complaint when they're stereotyped based on how they're dressed because of the culture associated with this dress.

Again, it's not just the hoodie.

It says NOTHING to me that the police are going with GZ's story, since they did nothing even resembling a thorough investigation before they made a determination in this case....and there are EAR witnesses, and there are witnesses that saw a Part of the scuffle, yet none who saw exactly what started it, and that is the crux...If somone actually saw TM strike the first blow it would be different, but the DIDN'T, so we don't know if GZ grabbed him by the arm, or a part of his clothes, or even tackled him to keep him from leaving before LE got there.

How is it obvious he pulled the gun out after the attack? I think it's just as obvious that the reason an altercation started in the first place was because Zimmerman had the gun out?

If GZ had gun out at that point IMO TM would have said something since his GF was on phone and as a natural reaction.IMO

Just catching up, but why do Trayvon's tattoos matter? NONE of them were visible to Zimmerman at the time of the shooting...

HLN is saying the info about Zimmerman being punched by Trayvon was an unauthorized leak, and the person responsible may be fired...:what:

so he's been in trouble several times at school...once caught with lots of jewelery and a break in tool.....

http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/03/2...t-trayvon.html

Piggybacking off of this:

Trayvon Martin was suspended from school in October in an incident in which he was found in possession of women's jewelry and a screwdriver that a schools security staffer described as a "burglary tool," The Miami Herald has learned.

Trayvon, a Miami Gardens teenager who claimed that an unnamed friend had given him the jewelry, was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald.

A lawyer for the dead teen's family acknowledged Trayvon had been suspended for graffiti, but said the family knew nothing about the jewelry and the screwdriver, calling the information in the report an attempt to "demonize" the youth.

According to the report, on Oct. 21 staffers monitoring a security camera at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School spotted Trayvon and two other students writing "W.T.F.," an acronym for "What the f---," on a hallway locker, according to schools police. The security employee, who knew Trayvon, confronted the teen and looked through his bag for the graffiti marker.

Trayvon's backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described the screwdriver as a burglary tool.

Trayvon was asked if the jewelry, which was mostly women's rings and earrings, belonged to his family or a girlfriend.

"Martin replied it's not mine. A friend gave it to me," according to the report. Trayvon declined to name the friend.

You cannot tell a person's character by their clothes. IMO
