I understand he was just a teenager but why show photos of him that are years old?

Maybe they just want to remember their son as a little boy, maybe they were the nicest pictures they had of him. maybe they didnt have access to more recent pics, maybe, maybe, maybe....... Maybe there is absolutely no other motive than to give people the pictures they had of their son. We dont know.

Here's a thought about the jewelry. THIS IS JUST A THOUGHT, THEORY, IDEA - I have no proof, documentation or anything else. Its just my past experience with teens that makes me thinks this MIGHT be what could have gone on.

Possibly TM had a friend that was in a bad home environment and wanted out bad. Perhaps that friend managed to get a hold of mom's, grandma's, aunt's, someone's jewelry and was going to use that (pawned) to get away. Friend gives TM the goods to hold just in case someone finds it missing and confronts the teen friend and wants to search them. Once MDPD gets involved and starts asking questions, they find out the who, what, when, where and why of it all. TM would not give the name of the friend.

That's just maybe one theory of how that jewelry played out. IDK - but teens in tough situations often do things to try to get themselves out of those situations.

JMHO and all that.

That seems extremely unlikely imo

As I said, what pictures of your child would you want the world to see if you had to stand in their shoes? Do you not have pictures of your kids as toddlers that are especially precious, some that you would want to share because of the memories?

The media did not have to run those pictures, but they did and I for one can't fault the parents or in fact anybody, this was their baby, and he's dead now and what they have left are their memories and their pictures.

First, I thought we were supposed to stop with this about the pictures?

They showed pictures from all ages. He had just turned 17, if anything some were a year or two old.

And they're showing current pictures of him, maybe it's your opinion, but in my opinion he doesn't look any more like a criminal even with the new ones. His current school id doesn't look all that different from the Hollister shirt picture.

Maybe the parents knowing that many families do run pictures from different ages when they're loved ones are missing or murdered, didn't realize at the time that they weren't allowed to do the same.

How old are the pictures that they're now showing of GZ, they're not all the same age because he looks different in them. Why is he wearing a suit and tie, why is he wearing a tux? Was he wearing either of those things that night? Is it a big conspiracy to make him look less like a murderer?

Or is this whole thing about pictures just a distraction from the facts of what happened THAT night?

Williamson County, Texas. It's in North Austin.

Any drug crime committed on school property automatically bumps up a crime category - so paraphernalia that would be a class C misdemeanor bumps up to a Class B misdemeanor. And 17 is an adult here.

That, and the other stuff he was suspended for, it's very likely Trayvon would have to attend an alternative school - if that - for his repeated offenses on school property.

Its likely and possible, but did not happen to Trayvon. Im not sure of the relevance, unless im missing something

m00c0w, I don't doubt that there were in fact some crimes committed in Twin Lakes by black males. On that we can agree. :peace:

There are also residents of the complex who are black males, and no doubt have visitors who are same. I don't think they deserved to fear, or be accosted by an armed neighborhood watch member. IMO, it is unlikely that GZ would have felt a white male walking that evening was suspicious, although one of the suspects mentioned in the report was white. Again, that's just my opinion.
Not that I completely disagree, but Zimmerman also apparently knew the black people in his community. And I think that it might be more fair to say that he may have been suspicious of a white person if 7/8 of the individuals in question were white, and only one was black. JMO

This is from the Miami paper:

In October, a school police investigator said he saw Trayvon on the school surveillance camera in an unauthorized area “hiding and being suspicious.” Then he said he saw Trayvon mark up a door with “W.T.F” — an acronym for “what the f---.” The officer said he found Trayvon the next day and went through his book bag in search of the graffiti marker.

Instead the officer reported he found women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that he described as a “burglary tool,” according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald. Word of the incident came as the family’s lawyer acknowledged that the boy was suspended in February for getting caught with an empty bag with traces of marijuana, which he called “irrelevant” and an attempt to demonize a victim.....

So the tagging was in October and February was for the bag which was probably not enough for an arrest. jmo

I posted this a few threads ago... AND got jumped on for it.
I am glad you also posted this.
Being in an unauthorized area :waitasec:
Having a woman’s jewelry and screw driver in his locker :waitasec:
Empty marijuana bag, (was not empty always) and a pipe in his hand :waitasec:

All irrelevant when looking at TM Character.
But when looking at GZ history all relevant??? :what: :what:

and it is not a witch hunt? It sure is....

LOL, no. That was just a convenient landmark. He says that he's parked at the cut-through, past the mailboxes, which is approximately where that truck is. He also says that Martin went "down" towards the back entrance, which leads me to believe that he actually made the turn down the straightaway, and that's where Zimmerman lost him.

If you listen to the tapes, it sounds like he got out of his car at first when he said "he's running", and then the dispatcher tells him "We don't need you to do that". He sounds a little shaky while he's following, but it clears up after he says "okay". The dispatcher might have actually given him a reality check, and Zimmerman halted midway in his pursuit. He doesn't sound nearly as jostled at that point, especially when he's giving out his phone number.

This should put the time around 7:11-7:12 when he apparently lost Martin down the sidewalk.

JMO

I don't disagree with one word of what you've said.

Now, look at the image and place your self at this turn in the sidewalk looking down it's long, straight length towards the back gate. Try as you may, you can't see Trayvon so you turn and head back towards your vehicle.

At some point, in this journey back to his vehicle, Zimmerman alleges the boy came up from his left rear asking him if he had a problem and the fight ensued.

Why was the body found several yards in the OPPOSITE direction of his vehicle?

It's a discussion of the overall character of how this story has been twisted by the media.

Not really relevant, actually.

I really think we can abandon the thought that some had that he had used that term. Considering:

1. That language is COMPLETELY out of character for the rest of his discussion with the dispatcher. There are no other derogatory or inflammatory remarks in the tape about Trayvon, or use of the F word. I don't think young hispanic men use the term coon. Ever.

2. No one uses that term anymore. There are racial slurs that can be used by those who act like that, but coon isn't one of them.

3. It's too grainy for anyone to agree that's what was said. Although MSM put their best effort into proving it, they sadly had to keep saying that no concensus could be reached.

He had already characterized Trayvon as an a&&hole...
You can't say what terms people, other than yourself, still use.
It's not grainy at all. He said something under his breath.

People, what does any of this have to do with anything even remotely relevant in this case. It seems like arguments for arguments sake. Nothing is known in this case, and spending countless hours wondering what if is truly counterproductive. What if tm was accosted gz, what if tm got shot in the back, what if gz really saw something suspicious. All of this seems pointless because the FACT IS that we have few real facts. Msm articles are riddled with inaccuracies and opinions. And all the rest muddies the waters. Patience is a virtue and we must wait before we hang or exonerate anyone. everyone relax. all imo.

Thank you! It would be nice if Spike Lee took this advice, too. What he has done is absolutely reprehensible!

Why do you say that? I've had to help many of my children's teen frends who find themselves in difficult situations. There was, in fact, one that talked about stealing money from dad's wallet (or his debit card) so she could get away (she had just found out she was pregnant and was very scared).

With what we have been given about the jewelry - anything would be likely and anything could be extremely unlikely.

BTW - the pregnant teen did not do anything rash (Thank God, I told her that was NOT the thing to do). Things worked out, she was afriad of dad for really no reason, he was upset but understanding and ended up being quite supportive.

Because they look like the image they are trying to portray.

If this story had broken, with ALL the information we now know, and current photos of each we now have, it likely wouldn't have made the news. IMHO.

I disagree. You could be right, but regardless of what these two people look like, in my opinion, an injustice was done here. LE had a duty and a responsibility to investigate this shooting and they failed to do so. With this LE Dept.'s history, it is very difficult, not impossible, but very difficult for me to believe that the LE Dept. did not have some hidden agenda. And I would hope that the community would raise heck about any shooting of a teenager, where it appears there is no VALID reason for the shooting and where a 911 criminal justice student caller has been advised that it is not necessary to follow someone, let alone follow them with a gun in his waistband.

There is something wrong here and I sincerely the Justice Dept. and the FBI get to the bottom of it. Trayvon should not have lost his life over skittles and iced tea.

Mod Note:

Until the toxicology results come back for TM and any drug tests on Zimmerman, DO NOT perpetuate the rumor that drugs had ANYTHING to do with this tragedy. That pertains to BOTH TM and GZ.

The ONLY evidence that has been made available anywhere regarding any drug is that TM was suspended for possession of an empty baggie that smelled of weed and a pipe - long BEFORE this happened. He was a 17 yr. old kid, like many other 17 yr. olds. Has absolutely nothing to do with the night in question. GMAB!

I have seen references to PCP?!? I don't know WTH that is coming from but unless you have some tox results that you can link up, STOP IT NOW. Anyone else who perpetuates these type of rumors will get an immediate TO.

This case is tragic enough. DO NOT contribute to the sensationalism. We don't roll like that around here.

just a friendly reminder :please:

Many people are chronic pot heads and it does not justify any shooting at all.

Most pot heads don’t run around with a pipe in hand and a screwdriver with ladies jewelry in the locker.
But bringing all of that up brings to light that he was not a puritan and that is only fair when they brought to light that GZ was no puritan either.
Bringing to light that he was not as sweet as the little boy with the red shirt on also makes me wonder why did they need to put that photo up? was it to create an imprint on public opinion about a sweet boy when in fact he was just who he was a teen ager that is not squeaky clean, no mo and no less.

I agree with the gist of your post here, songline.

I didn't think it was relevant or helpful to bring up GZ's credit problems. Not at all. But, I do think his arrest and the domestic violence report are relevant because he's admitted to the shooting.

GZ would not have had any way of knowing that night why TM had been suspended, so while I disagree with the information being withheld, I also don't think it has any real bearing on the real issue, namely Zimmerman's state of mind.

Question here Papa.. When did he stop and take cover under the awning?
BTW.. Last I heard, his friend, J Oliver is claiming GZ is not a fat guy so perhaps GZ didn't have any problems when it came to catching up with TM...

JMHO

ETA.. Did he stop at the clubhouse and put the hood up on his jacket at that time?

The awning or roof used by Trayvon for protection from the rain was at the clubhouse.

Obviously I'm being a wee bit facetious with the fat guy crack, but hey, my money's still on the kid in an all out race.

It made me wonder if for some reason he went over to the parallel street, to maybe see if he saw him dart across to the back gate, or even check the address of that house for some bizarre reason (I'm not saying it makes sense). That would be the most logical conclusion, I feel.

I can see him, wanting to sound cool to the cops, wanting to be able to say something like, "Yeah, he disappeared between 🤬🤬🤬 Twin Trees and 🤬🤬🤬 Retreat Cir". I dunno. That's just pure conjecture, but I believe he walked over to the other street for a second for some reason or another, and on his way back to his vehicle was when the confrontation occurred.

I just wish nobody plays with public opinion and just lets real pieces unfold which includes real character, real pictures, real story.
It is hard enough to put together all the pieces without meticulous records.
