The HOA can and IMO almost certainly be sued, for one reason, because the shooting took place in a "common grounds" area of the development.

Common grounds are equally owned by all deeded property owners in the development. Not only can the HOA be sued, but if successful, every deeded owner in the development will have to pay an equal share of the award or have their property attached by judgement and foreclosed if not paid.

The other reason a suit could be filed is through a claim of negligence on their part in allowing George Zimmerman to be a Captain in their NWP.

LOL....and Mr. Taaffe was worried about the gangsters bringing down his property values. jmo

I know, me too. But those packages make it impossible to drop the phone because of the price. jmo

O/T, but I dropped my land line because the only calls I get on it are from solicitors. I don't want to pay ANY amount of money for that privilege lol. Anyone I actually want to talk to uses my cell and my kids have their own. Even though my ds sometimes forgets his, his sister won't let hers out of her hands for 3 seconds, and if I am not at home, they are both home together.

Yes. I keep threatening to drop our land line. Everyone in the house, except the 3-year old, has a cell phone but for some reason I just can't make the break.

I only have one friend and a couple of elderly relatives with a land line. Everyone else...cell only, including me.

In individual cities, maybe they have packages that include landlines. I've lived in several states in the past few years, and it's never been a better deal for us to add a landline.
If it works for someone, great, but the vast majority of folks I know are cell only. It is pretty normal these days.

:truce: SO TOTALLY "JUST MY OPINION" :truce:

BUT............perhaps AC is going to use information culled from other investigator(s) from that evening?

AGAIN, :rocker: remembering that jurisdictions control the SOPs of each entity and what one agency in the ME "family" may set as SOP is not the same as ALL.....here's the "rope of faith" that I hope AC can hang on. :woohoo:

For District 7/24 ME's office, this is SOP: " With the exception of life-saving efforts that may be attempted by fire/ rescue officials, the body may not be touched or moved by anyone (including law enforcement officials) without the permission of the medical examiner. Therefore, forensic investigators from the Medical Examiner’s Office typically respond to every non-natural death scene before the body is removed from the scene. Forensic investigators will document the pertinent details and collect information about the circumstances of death. "

It is with great faith that I :please: hope District 7/24's investigator performed his/her site evaluation et al with one half the diligence that has shown by the District 9 specialist in "that other case"! :please::please:

BTW: here's the link...http://volusia.org/medicalexaminer/faq.htm
AND that's one well presented information page, In My Very Humble Personal Opinion as an everyday citizen reading in my first language.

Let's hope, Joy, let's hope.

I am suspicious about this closing of the police station to the public because of a handfull of peaceful protestors who are college students who walked a three day vigil for justice.

I agree with Tony Gatto...somethings fishy.

I think most people still have them because of emergencies. Not all 13 year olds have a cell phone. Plus with today's communication packages the phone is included in the price making it impracticable not to have one. jmo

Cells have emergency service as well. We do demographics on my properties - one of the questions is the home phone/cell phone number. I can't remember the last time someone gave a home phone number. Just cells and email addresses. I haven't had a home phone in 10 years. Your post made me curious, so I did a quick google -

The decline of the landline

"Despite some of the flakiest mobile-network coverage in the developed world, one in four households has now gone mobile-only. At current rates the last landline in America will be disconnected sometime in 2025."

Interesting, IMO

Thanks. I'm relieved that they aren't shut down altogether. Still...

I wonder why Corey wanted to speak with the leaders of the protest?

"Moments later, Phillip Agnew and Stephen Green, leaders of the Dream Defenders, were called into the Police Department after Special Prosecutor Angela Corey asked to speak with them over the phone."

I had always thought the low rider look originated in prison because belts were not allowed and sometimes you were stuck wearing whatever ill fitting pants were tossed at you. I was also told by some AA friends that many times having to wear an older siblings hand me downs left you wearing ill fitting pants and that was another explanation for how this look evolved into popular culture.

BBM: Did you know that not only AA younger siblings have to wear their older siblings hand me downs? I am a white female and up until the time I could afford to buy my own clothes I had to wear my older sister's hand me downs, but one thing I can say is it sure wasn't popular with me.

jmo, imo and all that jazz

Thats not what the article says, it says: "Tracy Martin had been looking for his son Trayvon since the night before. He went to bed figuring the teen must have gone to the movies and turned off his phone."

That's how I read it also, it was Trayvon who turned off his phone. Just a little note here, yesterday I met my G-son's new friend, his new friends name is Trayvon :-) I had never heard of that name before this case. How cute they both looked playing together, my G-son blond hair blue eyes, skin so white it's almost transparent, (and my G-son is Mexican) and Trayvon is so beautiful big brown eyes, black hair, and beautiful skin that looks like coffee with a bit of milk. They are both 7 years old and met about three months ago when my G-son moved into the neighborhood, Trayvon told me they are BEST friends, and Trayvon also called me Grammie, how sweet is that !!!

His grandmother had just died. Could they have been his grandmother's? jmo

Why wouldn't he have said that then? Why say they belonged to a 'friend' and refuse to name them?

"Moments later, Phillip Agnew and Stephen Green, leaders of the Dream Defenders, were called into the Police Department after Special Prosecutor Angela Corey asked to speak with them over the phone."
Because: "Green, 19, of Orlando, exited police headquarters, saying Corey, state attorney in Duval, Clay and Nassau counties, told protest leaders the process was continuing."

In order to use the door, you'd have to walk on top of the protestors or move them - something I think the police don't want to do.

I don't have much of a selection where I am so my package was the cheapest offered and it included the phone. To me cell phones make more sense but for whatever reason some still have those home phones. jmo

I understand how one would think the deed owners might be sued, but they do not own the common grounds, they pay dues to the HOA in order to utilize the common grounds and they pay the HOA dues to maintain them. The homeowners in the community may, and likely will, bring suit against the HOA.

To get a better understanding of why the condo owners do not own common areas - when they sell their home, they are only selling the dwelling structure - nothing else - not the parking lots, the pool, the courtyards - just the dwelling.

I don't know how the HOA can be sued if his SYG defense is successful - please explain!

Also, did you see the post I put up last night with Brandi and Tracy? I'm very confused by where they appear to be standing and indicating where TM was shot. TIA

BTW, yes I saw your post when I got up this morning. Go back to your post and you'll find that around 6:30 est this morning I made and posted a 14 second video snip of what BG said about "sitting on the porch". Your video is the first time I had actually heard it.

Listen and see what you think, but personally I took the porch comment as a poorly worded analogy on her part, IDK, but I don't think she actually meant he was shot on the porch.

This whole deal about where TM's body was located is frustrating the crap out of me. There are so many different statements out there that I'm in the process of downloading all of them into a "Volumes 1, 2, 3, & 4" sort of a deal on YouTube.

Here's Number 1 which has 2 snips from the original Fox 35 video that was on the link you posted. Watch it and see what you think. It's not very long.

I'll post the others tonight sometime.

To keep you from having to go back and look for it, here's the one on Brandy Greene's comment:

Why wouldn't he have said that then? Why say they belonged to a 'friend' and refuse to name them?

I'm not saying it did. It seems funny to have wedding rings when no one I ever knew took them off. I have wedding bands in my box but they are from family who are now deceased. Maybe he traded his grill for the jewelry??? Who knows???? All we know is that no charges were brought and the issue from last October seems to have been resolved. jmo

I put tongue piercings in with fob watches and diamond studs, and those awful earrings that make the ear holes huge (forget what they're called) in the same category. They're alternate culture, but they're not tough. They're just alter.

I don't know what flippers are but it sounds like they're meant to make the teeth look prettier - again I don't know. So no, not in the same category as grills that are meant to look like massive dental work.

I don't know whether not everyone knows what grills are communicating, or maybe people are just up for an argument here. Fashions communicate things. Grills communicate tough bad*** attitude. IMHO as always.
And i am a 39 year old white woman with a grill...I think it looks cool. I dont wear it to act "TOUGH" IMHO JMHO and all that

Why have they shut down public access to police department for what is so far a peaceful protest??!

Indeed. IDGI. Why wouldn't they just ask the six students sitting peacefully at the door to move back a bit as to not obstruct the entrance. It hardly warrants shutting down, IMO.

"Officials said the demonstration "will have minimal effect on police and fire response to emergency calls."

Seconds count in any emergency. Irresponsible, IMO Then again, this is the SPD...

My mom still has a home phone - she has a cell phone too, but she never answers it - half the time she can't find it. LOL
