I'm not sure this was ever a manslaughter case, to be honest. It seems like either Zimmerman just didn't give a damn, or he was acting in legitimate self-defense. There really was no negligence or "accidence."

Now see, I think it was premeditated by the use of his racial slurs, but I'll settle for 2nd degree, as long as it's murder!

My broken nose had remnants of bruising under the eyes,at that point. A nice shade of mustard yellow. :blushing:

I see light reflection from both eyes. The eyes look symmetrical to me, it's the nose that appears to be a bit crooked.

Nose doesn't look crooked to me, but I've been sitting here looking at this screen for days now so my eyes could be playing tricks on me...JMHO

Feb 26th was over 6 weeks ago. I'm not sure if we would see the effects of a hit to his nose at this late of a date. JMO.

Not meant at a slight to you Katydid (you are one of my favorites <3) but, rather wondering why they would have even mentioned an injury that produced only slight puffiness. Hardly the stuff that 'fear for your life' is based on.

Because, imo, that doesn't make it any less scary when the injury happens. My son was hit with a soccer ball straight on the face from up close. It hurt a lot and his eyes were watering non stop. We had x-rays because his nose was so tender and painful. And there was a hairline fracture, which indicates it was broken. So why not mention it as an injury?

no state official is going to publicly trash another part of the law enforcement establishment. Plus, the governor and all political appointees have a vested interest in not having their law enforcement officials viewed as inept, biased and operating unlawfully. It is also not her place to criticize another part of the government-not her job. That would be a job for a grand jury or the DOJ. I would not be at all surprised to have the DOJ investigate the Sanford PD. I always keep in mind in hearing any FL official speak that they are well aware that much of their economy depends on tourism and nothing is worse for tourism that the image of people getting killed and their killers not being arrested being the police are corrupt.

I think Corey pretty forcefully dispelled the myth that the original Sanford PD didn't investigate. When she was brought in to take over, the investigation was continuing she said, more than once. They had done many witness interviews, and were continuing the process when it was turned over to her office.

If people choose not to believe her, that's up to them, but that's what she said. She was very supportive and respectful of SPD and their efforts.

But if TM was shot in the back, how could the SPD not have arrested GZ? It would have cast serious doubts to his story imo. It's pretty difficult to shoot someone in the back if they're busy pounding your head to the sidewalk. It would be an awkward angle.

It is not likely that a funeral director would be able to tell, since after autopsy the wounds are sutured shut anyway. The body is restored as much as possible and wounds closed before transport to the Funeral Home where they do the final and most important dressing of the body and makeup to make sure that it is presentable for viewing.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but from what I understand, there is considerable difference between entrance and exit wounds. (And, of course, if the bullet doesn't exit, that's obvious, too.) These can be seen with the naked eye:

An entrance wound is surrounded by a reddish-brown area of abraded skin, known as the abrasion ring, and small amounts of blood escape through. An exit wound, on the other hand, is larger and more irregular, with extruding tissue and no abrasion ring. There is far more blood that escapes an exit wound, and it can possibly be profuse.

The one officer noting Martin's hands were under the body always struck me as strange.. I always wondered if Zimmerman's story was he thought he had a gun in his waistband and thought he was going for it and shot him in the back.

I have been suspicious from the beginning that GZ had his hands on the body, for some time (seconds, minutes?) according to witnesses. I thought that was odd, as he didn't turn him over to see if he was alive or needed cpr, etc. He had his hands on the body, why? I wonder if he was staging, if he placed Trayvon in that position. The eye witnesses only saw him after the shot and while his hands were on the body, another witness also saw him walking with his hands on the back of his head. I still think the blood on his head was Trayvon's from that act of placing his hands on the back of his head after touching Trayvon. moo

I guess because they named his injuries as a means to defend his shooting of Trayvon. When my nose was broken, it was very painful, lots of blood, lots of bruising for weeks on end. Like the bruise that wouldn't go away. It was intentional, yet, I didn't feel in fear of my life and I wouldn't have thought it was a reason to shoot the person who hit me.

But that's just my own personal experience. So I dunno.

And that makes sense to me, but I can't get around the fact that even though everyone <modsnip> Taafe, and his brother, and his Father, and Oliver have been all over the media willing to discuss his story in detail....either against his Attorney's advice or with their full support, and yet not one of them, none have shown any pictures of the horrible injuries, Nothing....and to me that is central, that is the one thing that would have made me stop and think that it was likely that this man was actually in fear of his life when he shot that gun.

Without that, I just cannot get to fear of his life and it makes the shooting something other than self defense....IMO JMHO and stuff

According to the new lawyer himself, he was contacted and hired yesterday after the previous 2 lawyers press conference. So, maybe last night.
