I don't know what acronym we should use for him! LOL Works for now, but might get confusing later on.

I will brainstorm with the other mods and come up with a players' list of acronyms so we can all be on the same page.

What about MO'M?

I am a firm believer that a "coward" becomes a "hero" in his own mind when he is holding a gun against an unarmed person. The threat GZ claimed was self-diagnosed, and motivated by his racial anger and his fantasy of superiority. I believe that GZ had an itchy trigger-finger, and he was going to pursue this opportunity to wield his weapon before anyone could intervene. Having friends in high places leads one to become bold, arrogant, and dangerous when armed with a concealed weapon, and allowed to prowl around as a self-proclaimed neighborhood watchdog.

IMHO

I don't think that she waited 3 weeks to come forward? I can see where she tried to get into contact with SPD and her calls were ignored. She's wouldn't be the only one who they ignored?

Another thing is... we don't even know if she knew Trayvon's parents personally? She was 15-years-old. Usually kids that age the relationship is based in school and on the phone. Also, I believe that it was Trayvon's parents lawyer, after they got the phone records, who contacted her... so I think the phone records are going to match up to her talking to Trayvon and I believe that Trayvon's parents were livid when they learned that this girls mother tried to get into contact with SPD and the calls were ignored.

You have to remember, she didn't know Trayvon was dead until at least a few days later. She was hospitalized and couldn't even go to his funeral when she found out.

Can you imagine being 15-years-old and you are talking to your boyfriend on the phone one minute and a few days later you find out that the reason the phone had disconnected was because your boyfriend was about to be killed? It's horrible.

I don't think she has any reason to lie? MOO

Beautifully expressed @LolaMoon. I didn't know the girlfriend had to be hospitalized and missed TM's funeral.

I wondered how she'd been affected by his death, and what you explained says it all. So very sad.

Can you imagine this happening to your first love? That final conversation will haunt her forever. When she's 50 yrs. old, she'll remember these days, still with deep confusion and sorrow.

She lost her best friend and it seemed that no one cared...

PS This is yet another problem with the way our society has gone. The cellphone / texting craze often means there's no land line to contact the boy's parents. And with parents divorced / never married, a kid doesn't know mom or dad's real last name to look them up. Not that kids today even know what a White Pages is! :D

So you think he got out of his car, went between the buildings where there are plenty of windows (where he can be seen to start a fight) and put his hands on Trayvon? I can’t see him doing that.
I can see that Travon was either afraid of the man who followed him and was going to SHOW him, or was Already Pizzed that he was not in Miami with his GF but up there with Dad, and now this guy is on his behind and he said to himself I am going to stop the MF.... he did not care if there are windows up there.
:moo::moo::moo:

THE GF - she signed a report with LE then the media got on it.

BBM So Trayvon ran AWAY from Zimmerman so he could "SHOW HIM?"

So Zimmerman cared that there were windows, but Trayvon didn't care if there were windows?

Which means it's hearsay and not evidence, unless RZ is called to testify as Cindy Anthony was. Still doesn't mean I believe him!

Isn't the girlfriend story hearsay as well? She is retelling what TM told her, unless it is taped it will be her version.

Very interesting points. I will be interested in the responses. Especially since she claims the line went dead. I would think that she would be calling him back frantically.

At 17 if my BF did not call me back and I could not reach him.
I think I would not be able to breathe. (that is puppy love are you kidding me)
I would be calling his phone over and over (maybe she did)
I would go to the police station to talk to someone.
That would have flipped me out, even if I did not want to tell my parents,
I would do something.
Something is not right no matter who says what....

Can you dumb it down for me? I would have to read for hours and go to law school to understand all of those statutes. :floorlaugh:

I'll do the best I can. You can't say another persons words. In a court proceeding the person does not have direct knowledge of the facts asserted, but knows it from being told. Things like gossip and rumors. However as you can see there are a lot of exceptions and definitions.

I have a feeling that his records are clean.
I too wanted to understand how he got a gun if he is so overzealous.

bbm

I think it is because complaints don't count only convictions. Could be wrong, I don't know much about gun laws.....don't own one, don't want one....ever!!

imo

We know George's frame of mind. His call to LE is very clear.

According to Trayvon's girlfriend, we could also say we know Trayvon's frame of mind. He was worried that this strange guy was following him and started walking faster and thought he had gotten rid of him when GZ caught back up with him.

MOO

You have someone clearly running towards a confrontation with the mindframe that Trayvon was an "a**hole" and a *f***ing punk" and he was going to get away... and then you have someone clearing running away from confrontation, noting that he was worried that someone was following him, and he was trying to get away and thinking he got rid of the person.

I strongly believe that your home has a great influence on you.
In fact I did a study on how much children are affected by early influences.
It is OK for you to believe what works for you;
I do not say it is impossible for GA to have initiated but In my strong opinion
It is not LIKELY that he would have initiated anything physical.

I think his weak link is having gotten out of the car even though it
was legal for him to do so.
WHY do I say that?
He knew the cops were coming, TM would not have been very far.
NEEDING to give them an exact address of where h was not paramount.
I think he will not get 2nd degree, but some other penalty as we move along this trail.
I do not think George killed Trayvon, I thing it snowballed out of control.

I would be very interested in knowing why you think "it is not LIKELY that he would have initiated anything physical" when his past criminal history proves just the opposite? He physically assaulted a law enforcement agent, he physically assaulted is fiance, he physically assaulted a woman at an illegal party. With his past criminal record if is far more LIKELY (not only likely HE HAS ALREADY DONE IT) that he WOULD initiate physical violence than that he would not.

Thank you,
That is what I was wondering. Just didn't know the right way to ask.

I haven't ever purchased a gun myself. And I assumed to have a concealed carry you have to be authorized in someway.

You would go to the police station if your boyfriend didn't answer the phone?? His battery could have simply died?? And she is supposed to go to a police station in Miami and tell them that her boyfriend won't pick up the phone? Oh yeah, and I don't know where he is either?

I hadn't seen him before. What a nice guy. He seems very sweet and well spoken. Everyone in that family seems kind of...gentle or something. They seem like sweet people. It was so sad listening to him talk about Trayvon wanting to go to college their horse back riding trip for their Mom's birthday. I didn't realize it was just 8 days before he died that they went on that trip.

Older brother: Trayvon Martin was a happy teen, not violent...

Fulton humorously recalled Martin's first time riding on a horse. "His horse had some problems. It wanted to be a bully to everybody else's horse. He (Martin) handled it. He was the first one to learn how to control him."
Martin was shot and killed eight days after the trip.

In that history he was Trayvons age about 17-18

I really don’t believe he would carry and initiate a fight too.
That would put him in a position to have a mess on his hands.

I always say if you carry you may need to use it.
If you don’t carry you won’t ever find need to use it.
JMO – but I do not like guns.

How about a man was following him, and then his phone dropped and I have not been able to reach him since.
Lets be real OK.

Then why now? what was he waiting for?
He had family working in Law always.
Why hasnt he gone out and shot people before?

BBM, he was building up to it, as his past criminal history shows.

The acronym for Mark O'Mara is perhaps correct, but is it respectful to his position as a defense attorney on this case? I guess it may depend on how one feels about defense attorneys. How about MO? But there's a Three Stooges movie coming out. That may be a worse acronym now that I think about it.

based on what I've read, his record would be "clean." In cases where he was merely arrested and not charged and convicted, the arrest has no legal significance. For the plea deal, it looks like the anger management was part of a diversion. In that case, his plea would have been on record until the diversion program was successfully completed. Once it was successfully completed, the disposition of the case would have officially been changed to "dismissed" and would be the same as an arrest with no charge or conviction for purposes of legal significance.

An RO in a domestic dispute is usually a civil RO. While you may not be permitted to own a weapon while it is in place, once the RO expires you can get your weapon back. jmo

There is absolutely nothing that the Miami Police Department could have done for her if she showed up and told them that.
