Crucial phone records sought in NSW cop's double murder case

21st January 2025

“Crucial phone records that could reveal a former police officer's movements at the time he allegedly killed a man he earlier dated and the victim's new boyfriend are being sought by his defence team.

The 29-year-old's Legal Aid lawyer Alex Curnick told Downing Centre Local Court today she was seeking Cellebrite reports on her client's phone, a reference to software police use to extract data from mobile phones.

The court heard police did not oppose handing over Lamarre-Condon's phone records, but there were still some issues with revealing records tied to several others involved in the case.

The matter will return to court on February 28.”

Update for police officer accused of horrific double homicide

“A police officer who allegedly murdered his ex-partner and the man’s new boyfriend will undergo psychiatric testing nearly a year after the alleged double homicide.

His lawyer Alex Curnick appeared in Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday to fight for access to Mr Lamarre-Condon’s phone records and data.

The court previously heard she had subpoenaed the NSW Commissioner of Police for access to a Cellebrite reports for her client’s phone and the phones of persons of interest.

She noted there was an “extraordinary volume of material in the brief” of evidence, which would need to be provided to forensic psychiatrist Andrew Ellis.

Mr Lamarre-Condon will be evaluated by Dr Ellis for a psychiatric assessment in early March, the court was told.

He is facing two counts of domestic violence related murder and one count of breaking and entering, but has not yet entered pleas to the charges.”

Beau Lamarre-Condon at centre of civil claim over earlier Taser arrest

“The former police officer accused of murdering Sydney couple Jesse Baird and Luke Davies is the focus of a new court claim over an arrest five years ago.

Kris Lovelock was chased down and Tasered by Beau Lamarre-Condon at a park in Paddington in June 2020.

9News can reveal Lovelock has launched a civil claim over the arrest against the state of New South Wales and is seeking compensation.”

Now the 11th Feb court date has been removed, and no new court date is available to see online, which is usually for the next 3 weeks.

Perhaps the change of date is to wait for the psychiatric assessment due in March of this year

Can anyone please shed some insights on the forensic psychological review process?
Always find this curious. Have to question whether even a highly skilled and experienced practitioner can properly delve into a person’s underlying personality to provide accurate diagnoses/evaluation within short timeframes.

I’ve found a media report that gives the next court date as 20th March, 2025.

The article sums up the fact that Police were excluded from last years gay Mardi Gras, but then this was overturned and Police were allowed to march, only not in Police uniform.

“The former senior constable didn’t turn himself into police for week. He was fired from the NSW Police Force in March.

The murders of Luke and Jesse shocked the Australian queer community, and were felt especially hard in Sydney.

NSW Police were uninvited from marching in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras last year, with the Board deciding it could “add to the distress within our communities”. A decision was later reached that Police could march in the parade, as long as they did so out of uniform.

The case will return to court on 20 March.”

“Calls for the ban were reignited this year after the alleged murder of two queer men by a serving NSW Police officer, leading to officers beings asked not to wear their uniform during the 2024 Mardi Gras parade.”

Magistrate Megan Greenwood is now listed to preside over this matter tomorrow.

I found a very interesting podcast, an interview with Magistrate Greenwood, as a DV Specialist Magistrate….. the link is below.

A look inside a domestic violence court

PROGRAM:THE DRAWING ROOM
Thu 13 Jun 2024 at 4:30amThursday

“Day after day, Magistrate Megan Greenwood presides over an increasing number of domestic violence matters.

They can men and women, same sex couples, teens and their parents, siblings and even live-in disability carers. Magistrate Greenwood must pick her way carefully through entangled traumas, look at the facts and apply the law.

With insights you’d never get unless you yourself were before her, this is a rare interview with a DV specialist magistrate.

Guest: Magistrate Megan Greenwood, NSW Magistrate”

Major update on alleged killer cop Beau Lamarre-Condon accused of gunning down his TV host ex-lover Jesse Baird and new boyfriend Luke Davies at their Paddington home

“Psychiatric testing for a former police officer accused of murdering two people with his service weapon has been delayed.

The accused killer was due to be assessed by a forensic psychiatrist in early March before he considers entering pleas.

But that assessment has not been conducted and the doctor's report is now expected on April 1, Legal Aid lawyer Alex Curnick told Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday.

She requested a two-month adjournment to allow time to consider the report and take instructions from Lamarre-Condon about how he wanted to plead.

It would also allow for the defence and crown prosecutors to meet to discuss the opportunity for early appropriate guilty pleas and narrowing contested issues.

That case conference is 'tentatively' scheduled for April 30, Ms Curnick said.”

“The matter will return to court on May 20.”
