2 Rescued After Falling Off Cruise Ship

Him supposedly being nude wouldn't be surprising since he has had a water survival course: you can take your clothes off, knot them on one end, get some air into them by holding them above the water (ocean always has a breeze going), then tie them off, for a floating device. You can do this pretty quickly if you have had the training, in the long run saving your treading energy.

That is good info. I learn something new on WS every single day. No kidding!

They weren't found together, but not far apart. A Coast Guard helicopter spotted Guzman and rescuers on their way to him spotted her nearby. They first rescued Partee, a certified lifeguard, had broken ribs and a lung contusion. Guzman had no injuries and his Air Force training included a water survival course. The credit is given to the Grand Princess' captain, Ed Perrin, who managed to turn the ship around in just 10 minutes. He turned off the ships' engines and asked passengers to listen for the pair. Partee got off the ship in Cancun for hospital treatment, Guzman continued on the cruise.

Thank you for the details. It sounds as if both were well equipped (training wise) to survive in water. They are very, very lucky!! I imagine that they will be more careful in the future.

Does anyone really believe the story of her trying to jump on his back? I can't see her running on a balcony (which can't be all that big) to try and jump on his back.

I worked on a Cruise Ship years ago. Every spring the college kids would come on for spring break. They would be disgustingly drunk every night. I remember several passengers who were so disgusted with the college kids, that they actually flew back home at the first port of call, at their own expense. The kids would throw the lounge/deck chairs overboard into the ocean. The hallways smelled of puke the entire time they were there, because they couldn't hold their liquor. They didn't tip the waiters, busboys, and cabin stewards, because they were broke by the end of the week. Never take a cruise during Spring break. If the college kids weren't bad enough, there were actually Ritzy private high school groups that came on for their "field trip" during the spring. Kids carryin Louis V and Gucci luggage coming aboard acting poorly. Little did they know that the waiters spit in their food because they acted as though the waiters were their own personal servants! The cabin stewards had their fair share of disgusting things when cleaning the cabins. The students would use the towels, washcloths, and sheets to wipe their butts. You would just not belive what goes on behind the scenes. So if a couple of them fall overboard now and then, I am sure the crew gets some big laughs! Belive me, they do not care, it is just one less person to take care of!

This is true. My husband works out in the Gulf of Mexico, and this was one of the water survival techniques he has been taught. They even can take off their steel-toed boots and make a floatation device!
