2008.08.05 Greta Interview with Anthonys

Casey has stolen lots of money, Cindy has been horribly upset for more than a week about the sudden taking away of Caylee, requests to speak to Caylee have been denied, and George is going to rotate the tires!! Did he actually change out some of the tires or was something wrong with one of them?

So he is lying. Cindy told him to check out the car to see what he smelled, and this was his excuse.

Good catch txvicki.

Mr. Anthony, imo, is saying that he got the gas cans out of the car on the 24th so that he can cover for the fact that they were actually in the car when he cleaned it out on the 15th of July when it was picked up from the tow yard. He failed to inform LE of this and he knows that he should have.

That's a good hunch...especially b/c if he DID find out on the 24th, he'd have called LE and said oh never mind, your cop was just here an hour ago, it was a misunderstanding.

You should post that in general, IMO.

It's hard to listen to these people talk. George is saying he was in the trunk. I guess he didnt smell anything strange? With all that Casey had stolen from them, I dont think she was worried about them finding the gas cans, I think she was afraid he might smell something. I am more convinced than ever that she did something to Caylee.

I think that his gas can story is not true. I don't think that he encountered Casey in the garage on the 24th--all concocted. You could see in his eyes that he was lying.

He found the gas cans in the trunk on July 15th, when he retrieved the car from impound.

He's trying to obsfucate the decomp story with this gas can story.

Oh of course I agree with you Straitfan. but I think it is wrong (for posters)to accuse them of being involved in the possible murder of caylee. jmho of course.

Yep JBean, I agree. I don't think the parents have anything to do with it either. Their fault is as you said, possibly extremely torn between their granddaughter missing, maybe deceased and hoping/wanting to believe their daughter has nothing to do with it. I think their minds can't/won't go there right now until there are definite answers. (That girl, though, is unbelieveable, just when we think we have heard it all :(

I'm amazed at how stupid they think we are! WHERE did Casey and Cindy find all this time to be discussing everything Cindy claims they've discussed? She's been in jail. Cindy says Casey told her basically (in her own way) where Caylee is. Those meetings are recorded. From what I recall, Cindy has only had the one 45 minute visit with Casey? And canceled on her today.

Umm.. Hello??

IF Cindy knows where Caylee is, and IF she doesn't share this with LE, she can be charged with obstruction.

They do think we're stupid...this whole show tonight is about trying to repair the Anthony's image (FAIL!) and further obsfucating the facts.

Over on the main discussion, someone said Cindy called in to one of tonight's shows and called Holly a liar.
Anyone know if it was LKL, NG, ot Greta?
And why did she do it?

Nancy Grace.

Cindy called into Greta because Holly asked her to.

I have no clue why Cindy would call in, but I imagine that Holly was asked a question she could not answer. Cindy called in to tell her side of the story. (again, again, agian, is there anyone who can keep track of all of this?)

This would be a huge task, but is there anyone who can post the videos on a separate thread.

I have no clue how to do this.

I believe this was an exercise in damage control. And they failed.

Why is the gas can story not reasonable? I am missing something. George reported the gas cans stolen in the morning of the 24th and told the officer that they were probably taken after the 22nd, IIRC.
Then he sees Casey in the afternoon and she displays some suspicious behavior by trying to keep George out of the car..and then he discovers his stolen gas cans.
Since I doubt there was an APB out on the gas cans and I doubt that LE was actually even looking for his gas cans, I don't find it odd that he didn't report back to the police. Especially since he would have to tell them that his own daughter took them.

So besides the fact that we want to know exactly why Casey took the gas cans, why does George's story sound so suspicious?

I don't think these people had anything to do with Caylee's disappearance. I think they are distressed people that are hoping that the baby is alive and that their daughter is, for once, telling the truth. I think they are in a severe denial, but that doesn't make them guilty of anything excpet poor judgement.
I think we should be careful about the accusations being made on this thread about these people as I don;t think they are implicated at this point in any way and are possibly being duped by their daughter.jmho.
I agree. I would imagine this is what it looks like when parents are trying to hold out hope while feeling like they're in a very bad dream.

I'm not as educated about this case as most here, but my guess about inconsistent dates and Cindy's seeming contradictions could be all due to the nightmare suddenly unfolding, the vague stories coming from their daughter, and them trying to process everything while it's all being shown on national television with non-stop questions from the press. It would all be confusing, and it would be difficult to be media savvy while trying to comprehend what their daughter is saying, perhaps what the attorney is telling them not to say, and all the while trying to believe the horrific possibility didn't happen.

George and Cindy smiled and acted like they were talking about an eight year old sneaking cookies to her room when they finally got to the end of their story about his finally finding the gas cans in the trunk. Really strange.

So besides the fact that we want to know exactly why Casey took the gas cans, why does George's story sound so suspicious?

Here are a few reasons:

Casey's parents have indicated previously that they hadn't seen her from June 15 to July 15 (or 17 or whatever it is.)

George had said before that a neighbor had taken his gas cans and then returned them.

George keeps changing his account of what items he knows to have been in the trunk -- pizza, garbage bag, baking soda, cleaning stuff, now gas cans.

Than you Steadfast. That is exactly what I was looking for. I'll my research from here. thank you so much.

Today Lee said that the young man who was Caylee's father didn't know he was the father and that they've known for years who he was, that he and Casey met through mutual friends at school. That his family doesn't know about Caylee. He died in a car wreck and she didn't go to the funeral. It was out of state.

Tonight Cindy says that the young man who was Caylee's father lived in another state and that he had already started another family by the time Casey was pregnant.
That it was a mutual decision between him and Casey that his family would not know about Caylee. He died.

I don't believe this. Not one bit.

I totally agree with your post.

I am a little puzzled as to why Mr. Anthony kept the wheel chocks (wedge) in the Pontiac. As best we can determine that car was mostly driven by Casey and if one has car problems and needs a tool, chock (whatever) you want it at the home where you would be working on one of the vehichles, no? Why in the car of a young woman who seems to like to be off and about a good bit?

They have 3 sheds and their garage was very organized and their yard, home etc looks much the same. If Mr Anthony is one prone to work on the cars rather than take them to a shop, the chocks would be kept at the home in my idea if logic. I certainly don't think Casey seems the sort to work on her own car, if so she obviously needs a few gaskets, as that Pontiac appears to leak a good bit (oil stains on driveway).

My point...it seems to me Mr Anthony knew or strongly suspected Casey had taken the gas cans and he wanted to look in her trunk. That was just his excuse to look....but imo he had a reason be it gas cans or whatever, he wanted to see inside that trunk.

I also thought George was wanting to look in the trunk and using the wedge excuse . It's also another example of the mind games played instead of just telling her to butt out, that he was going to look it the trunk, like it or not.

I got that feeling too...

Good points.

I've been trying to figure out why the Anthonys would NOW come out with this information to the general public and the one thing I can come up with is that they wanted Casey to know what they told LE so that she can tell them the same thing.

And I think that's why Cindy couldn't sleep the night before, why she didn't go and see Casey. Because she wanted to tell Casey so badly what they told LE so that they could all be on the same page. But she knew she could not because everyone would know.
