2009.02.09 - The cousin that visited....

  • #561
Well, if I'm reading the caption correctly it says "hanging up posters....on TUESDAY". Tuesday was the 10th. The next Tuesday would have been the 17th so-----it had to be on the 10th.

  • #562
I don't see how they had time to be out hanging up posters the day following Haleigh's disappearance. I would think they would be getting interviewed, giving statements, taking lie detector tests, etc etc, something is very confusing about these dates, they don't make sense to me in the whole scheme of things.

Except if the picture was taken on the 16th and the image was posted on Tuesday the 17th, definitely doesn't make sense that it was February 10th, not in my opinion. Lots of food for thought though, for sure.

OK right thread now for me :)

Is it possible that Joe knows something and has been told to keep a low profile until time to testify in court? I know he is family but that doesn't seem to matter to this clan. And also I go back to the rat in the mailbox. Why would RC and MC be warning Tommy to keep his mouth shut about anything including Cousin Joe if it would bring Haleigh back? And if it was this obvious, why is Joe not already in jail?

It just doesn't add up to me, but hopefully we will learn the truth, whatever it is, some day. Soon.

IMO, this entire "Cousin Joe did it" routine is nothing more than another attempt to misdirect LE's scrutiny. TN, MC, and the Croslins were firing this line out from the beginning every time a microphone was stuck in their face.

Saying Cousin Joe is a lock bumping, brick toting, pedophile DOES NOT make it true, particularly when this kid has NO record of any kind that anyone has brought forward.

Essentially we know 3 things about Joe Overstreet:

- He came to FL to visit his "family" for two weeks and wound up being accused of vile, disgusting crimes by a pack of drug addicts and criminals.

- I've got a picture of him doing something I've yet to see Ronald Cummings, Teresa Neves, or the Croslin family doing at any point in a solid year:

JoeOFlyer2-1-1.jpg

- He had the good sense to get the heck away from this circus quickly, EASILY qualifying him as the most intelligent member of that particular family IMO.

Without getting into the semantics of "cleared" vs "not cleared" or "top of the list" vs "bottom of the list", LE stated he is NOT a suspect and was ruled out:

Until I see otherwise, this is good enough for me.

I agree Papa. Also, this cousin was visiting, he didn't move there. I'm sure he had something to get back home to, like perhaps a job?

There has been much talk about the gun found in the culvert. Since Ron knew of its location and told Misty exactly where to find it, does anyone think that perhaps RC planted that gun near or around the brother's home with the intention of setting up Tommy, Timmy or Joe?

I know there are rumors that Ron left work that night and was seen brandishing a gun and looking for quick money. If this is true, I would think Ron would have had plenty of time to hide a gun prior to the end of this work shift and prior to the 911 call.

Just the fact that so much suspicion has been cast on Tommy and Joe from the get-go by Misty and the Cummings side, makes me very suspicious of their motives.

Perhaps after Ron could see that the media was buying the "abduction" theory and giving stats on the sex offenders in the area, he decided to retrieve his gun and ditch the setup of Tommy/Joe. Of course it hasn't stopped Ron or Misty from throwing this out there anytime it's convenient for them.

Oops, sorry, I didn't know quoting your post would insert the picture again.

The photo of Joe is in the Palatka Daily news archive for 10th to 14th February. The only Tuesday in that timeframe is the 10th.

And Donjeta, I ask you this because I respect your posts and opinions, does it make sense to you that Misty and Joe O would be out hanging up missing child posters just HOURS after Haleigh was reported missing? Is it even possible to have missing posters that quickly? Are caregivers thinking along those lines when a child goes missing out of their bed in the middle of the night? Shouldn't each of the persons in that picture been at the police station on February 10th, or maybe out searching in the woods or taking a lie detector test or something? Misty looks to be wearing a short sleeved tshirt and Joe appears to be wearing the same, with a sweatshirt slung over one shoulder. In the days just after Haleigh was reported missing Misty seemed to be wearing the O'Neill hoodie as a constant. I just don't think that picture was taken on Tuesday February 10th, it doesn't make sense to me.:waitasec:

The obvious is often difficult to comprehend - thanks for stating it :)

Missing child posters do generally get put up as soon as possibe, often times the very day after a child disappears- because, time is of the essence.

Police stations, media, local volunteers, local businesses (including print shops), concerned citizens, etc. are thankfully quick to jump to action in cases like these.

I don't believe this young man, 'Cousin Joe', had a thing to do with Haleigh's disappearence- or the cover-up that followed.

I think Ron and Misty considered using him as a scape-goat, if need be. I think Ron and Misty considered using quite a few people as scape-goats. A throw-them-against-the-wall-and-see-which-one-sticks, sort of thing.

I think Joe just happened to be visiting the wrong people, at the wrong time.

perhaps you would be so kind as to state the obvious? I think it is 99% unlikely that Misty was out on February 10 2009, Tuesday, with Cousin Joe Overstreet hanging up posters for Haleigh gone missing. Haleigh was reported missing at 3:27 am, and the area was cordoned off to prohibit people going into and out of Hermits Cove, statements and interviews were taken, IIRC RC and Misty were at the police station for hours shedding clothing and giving DNA samples. Yet these two manged to hook up that same day and run down to the neighborhood convenience store and hang up posters?

I must go and search for some articles regarding this very crucial day.

I have no idea if Misty was telling the truth about this part, or not, but in one of the TM videos [LDT/LVA/Hyp] she states that one cop said she wasnt allowed to go down to the m/h on the 10th, then she says [paraphrasing] but it turned out that cop was lying and LE never said she couldn't go down there. [In between, she says that she waited at the Kangaroo for her mom and dad to get back from Shands because her father couldn't ride home in their vehicle due to his cast/wheelchair.]

I wonder if Teresa or Ronald aren't the ones who told her she couldn't go down to the m/h that day. Seemingly o/t, but IF that is the case then who's to say the same person didn't tell JO that the cops said he needed to leave post haste.

[A longshot to many of you, I realize, but it werks for my theory.] ;)

NONE of them were allowed to go down to the MH that day or many days afterward. They were filmed mostly walking in front of Tommy's house.

  • #576
Duh I saved the picture to my desktop.....lol.

The date was February 16 2009, it is cut out of the same picture above. Here is the full picture, but the caption underneath reads February, 16th.

It's from Feb 10-14 and it said Tuesday so it must be Feb 10. So Joe was still there on Feb 10th to hang pictures!

I think some are getting buried in articles. They are misleading often times and will confuse you. Trying to piece them together is not worth the time, imo. It is better to use the player's words or actions. Newspaper reporting in this day and age isn't worth much. They will take an article off the AP and repeat it. They have no way to verify facts anymore since LE won't give the time of day, with the exception of planned press releases.

My computer printer can spit out 3-5 ppm of color copies. A commercial photocopy machine could do hundreds per hour.

The general area was cordoned off to prohibit lookey-lou's and media from trampling the Hermit's Cove subdivision and surrounding neighborhood. The m/h was cordoned off to prohibit EVERYONE but LE down to Ron's mobile home. [I'm sure his next-door neighbors were allowed through, with a LE escort. ]

The family was allowed to come and go from the area of the tents, iirc.

"Hook up"? That's a loaded phrase, imo.

Thank you for bringing up the "shedding clothes" at PCSO. I heard about that briefly a few months ago and then never another word. I'm not even sure where that came from. [ehhh? Snake Man? real question, btw]

Hope this doesn't sound too harsh - I was supposed to be somewhere 5 minutes ago, but didn't want to lose my train of thought.

Sorry if that seemed like a piling-on, elle. I took so long to type it that I didn't realize everybody else had posted replies already.

Aren't you local? Why don't you just call the newspaper and ask them when the picture was taken? I do know they get posters/pictures out fast in a missing child case. If need be, they would just run some off the copy machine, but in this day and age, it would take just a few minutes to scan a photo, set some type and there you go.
