2009.02.12 ~ *Revisit video*. Father Begs for Daughters Return

  • #21
I personally have always thought that the video when Ron was on the ground with the stiriped shirt that he knew his daughter was dead and that was a true grief reaction...If you really pay attention the the first couple of days videos in my opinion you can tell that Ron and Misty both knew that Haleigh was dead and there reactions and emotions are spot on for grief, not fear for a missing child.

hmmm...this video is interesting. I'm not sure how a father would act after day 3 of his child missing, but Ronald seems pretty sincere here. Even his anger seems believable & justified. But it's weird that his reactions seem to go backwards. The 911 anger should've come later, & this pleading & perplexity should've come sooner. Ron looks like a kid here & Misty looks like an emotional mess. Wow, what a difference a year makes. Also, even though he seems to not want Misty interrogated, Ron, himself seems pretty open. Maybe watching this video & seeing the zoomed in shots of his neck, played a part in his later confrontational attitude. Did he really expect to be seen as nothing more than a worried dad?

On a radio show, maybe Levi Page, a caller asked about the bandage on Ron's neck. Art Harris went into one of his long spiels about the cuts on his hands, so we here at WS tried to answer the question on this board amongst ourselves - what was on his neck? It was our infamous BOIL thread. One of our mods, maybe Kimster, came in after the show was over and asked, "Did they talk about boils on the show?" and we explained how we got on that subject. It was just a few weeks ago, even though this clip was from 12 Feb 2009. Someone found this WFTV video and we examined it at length.

Teresa is there. Ronald's father is there, too. He talks a little bit. You can see them better in this clip of the same day, but shot by a different TV station. This video was made by our own Papa, it's not the entire interview, but it's titled "Attitude". This interview was made the same day George Anthony visited. The segments in question begin at 0:49 seconds. There's a great piece with GGS at 3:14, very short, but it's her "That's a Crock" interview. I hope this is okay to post here, if not please delete.

Not trying to hijack the thread, please just talk about the part that applies to the video linked above in post # 1.

Thanks for posting!

Ron tells the person whose cell phone rings during his statement (which was his sister Crystal's I believe) he looks over and mutters "very rude". What if it was someone calling with news about Haleigh, how could that be rude? I'd be looking to see what/who it was and what was being said.

In this vid. (which has been pointed out by many others before me; kudos to brilliant posters here) Misty says I loved that little girl like she was my own. Past tense. It is right after this that Ron brings her in close for a hug.

Anything to make of the "I took good care of my kids" comment from Ron? Past tense in took. Why not I take good care of my kids?

Why all the talk about custody from Ron?

R: I've been slandered in the media into a sorry father. Obviously in most cases fathers don't get custody of their children. I took good care of my kids the three yers i had them by myself. Obviously I still have custody and if I can get my daughter back I will remain to have custody no I still will have custody and they... they.. a lot of people are talkin like this is a custody battle and this is not a custody battle, it's about finding my five year old daughter. (crying) I just wanna clear it up, this is not a custody battle.

Custody is said 7 times in this one statement. Haleigh's name so far has not been said by Ron even once. A plea for a safe return was said only once. What is most important and on Ron's mind... custody and keeping it.

(I've been reading a lot on the statement analysis website the last few days LOL- can you tell)

Someone in the background says "I was driving the mother around all day" Crystal is referred to as the mother not by her name. This is either a slight made on purpose toward Crystal or a lack of a relationshipfamiliarity with this woman and Crystal. I'm going to assume that since this person is in Ron's entourage full of family and friends after Haleigh is missing that she is close to the family and therefore would know Crystal as Haleigh's mother well enough to use her name. It just stood out to me as mean and callous during a time when that should have been the last thing on people's minds.

RC appears drugged and on the defensive. He's rather sharp with the reporters who are only trying to get Haleigh's name and story to the public. When a reporter asked if he felt Haleigh was close, RC said he didn't know where she is, if he knew, he'd go get her, then he says, "It's not funny, either". What? Why so rude? When asked what George Anthony said to him, RC responds, "That's personal". Crystal jumped in and said he was trying to support them. She seemed shocked at RC's abrupt answer.

When asked why would someone take Haleigh, he became extremely nasty, "Why would anyone take any child, [blah, blah.]. No answers? Didn't think so?". These are people trying to help him find his daughter!

When first asked about being comfortable about the investigation, he said "Absolutely". As he's questioned more about Haleigh and everything else, RC becomes more and more belligerent. Unbelievable. Haleigh was only gone 3 days at this time.

I've been reading a book on statement analysis, as well as reading the blogs by analyzers, and I noticed the custody statement, too. This guy was worried about losing custody of Rjr.

I think those two blonde women behind Crystal C and Misty are Teresa's sisters. (see note below, only the one who spoke is her sister) The one who said she was driving "the mother" around was definitely T's sister. She may have said "the mother" instead of calling Crystal S by name because she was talking to strangers/reporters and that was her relationship to Haleigh, or maybe she just didn't want to call her by her niece's name, which is also Crystal. Or, like you said, callous. They were talking about why the Sheffields weren't camping out with the Cummings group. Who knows what was going on in their minds at that time?

After I study statement analysis, maybe I'll ask my LE cousins if I could take a crack at some their perps' statements.

ETA: Correction, thanks to twall's sharp eye and mind, the woman who said she was driving "the mother" is a sister of Teresa's. The longer haired-blonde is Ronald's cousin. Thanks, twall. :blowkiss:

The past tense thing is always a red flag.
But it could mean that on the rare occasions when he was actually looking after the kids, he believed he was a good dad. The past tense thing could be because the last time he actually cared for them ON HIS OWN was a loooong time ago.

I don't like how he makes it look like he was a single Dad who did it all on his own. I'd love to know how often he actually cared for his kids without the assistance of a teenage gf, and other family members.

The interview gives an insight how rc is when he is on his best behavior. there were times in this clip where he was likeable but he can't hold onto to that, so he becomes sarcastic. He then goes into bullying and then proceeds to challange people. He then proceeds to put them down by showing his superior intelligence. It was good to see a lengthy interview of him and how in interacts. He is very controlling.

Misty gave them absolutely nothing about Haleigh when she was asked about the last time she saw Haleigh. Usually people describe what the child was doing and how they were acting or talking and give a little insight into the child. Her I put her to bed at 8, woke up and she was gone, ...wth? It is no wonder that everyone says misty is guilty. There is no other conclusion after watching this clip

Every interview in the beginning, even on the first day, rc speaks of custody. He has been the one that brings it up at any chance he has. I believe he knows Haleigh is gone forever and is determined to keep jr. He likes to toot his own horn. Being a good father and making sure that gets put out there is his focus. He shows arrogance and hostility at times. He definitely has a chip on his shoulder.

I did not have any impression that he harmed Haleigh from this interview. He wants to make sure that nobody thinks he did either. I think he knows that many many people are going to blame him for Haleigh's demise due to negligence and his bad judgement and he cuts them off at the gate. He is unable to admit any personal flaws.

My impression is that he is a narcissist and also has a mood disorder, his moods move quickly.

Lil E ...Is that the secret to unlocking the video? If so, you must be a programer...WOW!

It really bothers me that in this and other videos from the early days after Haleigh became missing, Ron doesn't say her name. It seems like there was a distancing there. He keeps referring to her at my daughter, but avoids her name. I think he knew what had happened and the coverup had begun. With his rudeness at a time when people were trying to help, I can imagine what he might have been like in ordinary times.

That's a boil for sure on the back of Ron's neck. I can't see any bruises. IMO, the video quality is making their skin look like it has patches of discolouration, especially Ron as he is closest. If you notice there is a similar patch, only much larger, of what looks like discolouration running down the side of his face, in front of his ear. It seems to me they were zooming into his face on a hand held camera, while he was speaking, not his neck in particular.

My internet is really slow today, as usual, so I'm having problems watching the video because it's not one of those you can load up in advance. So I'll have to post my overall thoughts later.

Btw, is that Ron's sister standing beside Misty? I hardly recognise her. Her hair looks much better like that, rather than the corkscrew curl style I've seen her sporting.

He never says Misty's name either, I've noticed. Probably for a different reason though. However, he does say Junior's name. I recall him saying 'Junior', and not really referring to him as 'my son'. I've only ever heard him say Haleigh's name on a couple of occasions. I do find that odd.

We had a neighbour who used to always refer to his wife as 'herself'. I don't think I ever heard him speak her name.

^^ respectfully snipped for space but I agree with all that you said about custody. I noticed it myself in a few other interviews (he goes on about it in one of the Cobra tapes) and thought it was highly inapproriate and out of place. That's Ron's controlling personality shining through right there.

I haven't been able to see all of the tape due to loading issues but I would imagine Crystal was referred to as 'the mother' to differentiate between Crystal, Ron's sister, who was standing in front of the camera. Also, I don't think proper etiquette is among their stronger qualities.

MC: ( 5:47 mm ) “The last time I seen her was when I put her to bed”.

Misty' claim that the last time she saw HaLeigh was when she put her to bed around 8 pm is wrong. The last time Misty saw HaLeigh should have been when she went to bed around 10 o’clock since she was sleeping a few feet from her bed. Is Misty purposely hiding the truth about when the last time she saw HaLeigh or is this comment simply an oversight?

Good Catch. I don't think Misty knows anything.

suspicious, could you please explain what you mean. Misty knows when the last time she HaLeigh was despite Ronald calling her "dumb", and it certainly wasn't when she laid HaLeigh down at 8 o'clock, her bedtime.

This is a key question to this investigation. Did TJ Ward ask Misty this question on her LVA and if so, what was her response? (I'll go check this out).

I can't remember a specific time when Misty said the last time she saw HaLeigh was when she went to bed next to her around 10 pm like she should have. Misty's response to the question "When was the last time you saw HaLeigh?" in this video shows deception IMO.
