Why would LE need the matress ? I think it is a given, at least I hope it is that the bed clothes would have been taken after preliminary testing, perhaps luminol and other prelims. If these tests showed no reason to take the matress, why bother with it ? Seems to me the bed clothing would tell more than the matress.

If Haleigh wet the bed the night before, and her sheets and blanket were washed, I would think they would take the mattress to see if it had been peed on within the last 24-36 hours..
Those mattresses are not cloth, they have the plastic covering on them..I would think that there would be some kind of evidence there.

Hi passionflower,

That is what i have been thinking, that JR saw a shadow. I have been asking about the skylight's today. Had visitors and have not checked all threads, but i would really like to find out. gonna go look at the photo of the outside of the house again.

thanks again to everyone for giving us such great descriptions.

My heart goes out to Haleighs family

Whoa, Roblyn...that gave me chills! Do you think someone could have entered through the skylights?

Except it was reported (initial reports coming out) that LE took the sheets and blanket outside and put them on the ramp so the dogs could get their "mark" from them. :bang:

If LE took the bed clothing outside for such a purpose prior to checking for forensic/trace evidence then they are dumber than a box of hammers.

Can someone please give me a link to where Misty said that the main door was held open with laundry? All I ever saw was that the screen door was "bricked".

the only reason I can think of is that she did not want to wake the children. Probably thought if she snuck over to the other bathroom, no door closing or toilet flushing..etc

I personally don't think she would have trucked it across the house to use the bathroom. I know when I wake up to go to the bathroom, I don't go across my house because by time I wake up, I really gotta go..KWIM?
If Misty thought that flushing a toilet would wake up Haleigh, then surely she would think Haleigh would wake up if someone was taking her..

They could have determined that with luminol//blue star/lasers/ and on the spot prelim testing. Collection of swabs for testing at the lab. They do not need the entire mattress to determine that.

IMO she was either outside or not there. Somewhere someone knows something. Maybe she was just outfront and propped the doors open herself aso the kids didn't wake up when it slammed. Does she even have a key? maybe she left the main door unlocked.

Good point!

Too, go back to Misty's statements from the 911 call, her police statement, and to the media statements.
Once she said that Haleigh was in the bed with her. If that was the case, and Junior was against the wall, Haleigh would be in the middle..No way in Heck would she not know someone was taking her.
In another report, she said that Haleigh got up to go to the bathroom..I seriously doubt a 5 year old would walk all the way down the other side of the house to go to the bathroom when there is one right there in the room.
Another of Misty's statements was that she got up to get a drink of water, realized the light in the kitchen was on, seen the backdoor open then went back and realized Haleigh was gone.. If she got up to get a drink of water, there is no way she didn't see that Haleigh was not in that bed..

Okay here is my "thoughts" I think there are way to many things that are convienant for Misty.... Not pointing fingers but I can not stop thinking about.... First they are all in the "same" bed, then Haleigh was in "another" bed.... Had a pink shirt on, didn't have a pink shirt on...... Was not sure if the door looked forced open...... Sounds like someone in a state of panic, panic for what??? Could be the shock of a child gone, or could be not sure how to answer questions correctly...... Then by seeing the layout of the trailer. Is it not a little weird that Misty first went to bed at 10:00 (a 17 year old, waiting for her boyfriend to come home....) Then woke up to use the bathroom, and chose to use the one at the other end of the trailer...... and happen to notice the light was on in the kitchen, that she could not have seen from the bedroom (according to the reporter on NG) Went back to the bedroom to then notice Haleigh was missing, but did not notice as she got up and walked pass the little girls bed.... That you would think if it was so dark would have looked to see were she was stepping making sure not to bump into or step on Haleigh....... And not to mention all this just happen to take place "shortly" before dad was due to arrive home???? Woke up & noticed at 3:00 am, right when dad gets off of work???? Lets say there was a perp, and like everyone continues to say would have had to known the family, their routine, and their home. Would it not be VERY risky to do right before dad is do to arrive home?????????? JMO again JMO

If that is the case, and they didn't find anything on the mattress, then obviously Misty lied about her peeing in her bed.
Too, maybe they checked Misty's bed, and found the same thing..no need to take it into evidence..
So, where the heck was Haleigh really at? Misty needs to come clean!

Speaking of forensic testing, in the Anthony case we saw live video of CSI workers arriving at the home multiple times, carrying out protected bags etc.... did I miss this occuring at the Cumming household? I saw detectives in a dumpster, but I have not seen or read about real forensics being collected or removed.

I think Teresa Neves is a sympathetic gmom and surely in pain. BUT, if my child were missing, I would like to think I would put my child's well-being ahead of my own bruised ego. I am far from perfect and there could be some stones thrown my way BUT my kid comes first. He surely wasn't shy in the beginning--what changed for him? I don't buy Geraldo being the reason unless he was on to something and hit too close to hom

I used the other bathroom instead of the one the man of the house used in our master bedroom. (It was much cleaner and we stopped fighting over the seat up situation! I made him clean his own tho! :P LOL)

Hi Sunburst,

Boy O Boy, I had not even thought of that:eek:, i was thinking that due to the full moon, depending on where they are located in the house, it would shine light(i think, not sure), causing JR to see a "black man"= Shadow.

Just a thought, but i wanted to know more first. Grasping at straws...

NG is on again

I will have to go back and look at the articles as there was evidence and samples collected from the home - LE just refused to say what. Also today the Palatka daily news reported LE had given receipts to the family for every item that was collected from the home - this is why LE does not know what TN is trying to say is missing.

This whole scenario stinks..
The 911 call, the statement to police, the timing, the statements to the media, and now the layout of the house to me describes nothing of an intruder.
Okay, so maybe the 911 call could have been a bit jumbled on Misty's part, but even after the initial shock, her stories continued to change..

I think it could be possible for somebody to sneak in the back door while she was out on the front porch, assuming of course, she'd be out there long enough to take Haleigh and get away. My question is did the perp have a car or not? If so, where did they park it? If not, how far could they carry Haleigh?

The door is on the side of the house, not the back. That would make it harder to sneak out if she was out front.

They had control of the house for an extended period of time (approx. 20 days or something like that?) which was abnormal and they took things out bit by bit, imo. I think it is also the difference in reporting. It was done.
