Someone in the hallway outside before the hearing started asked Mr. Grund why he was there and he said he was there to protect his son. Just fyi...

You know what? Looking back at the pictures gave me chills as well - something is extremely strange and frightening in her face.

The one I posted below - alarming - like "KC" is completely no longer there.

It seemed to me like she couldn't stand being there and just wanted to go back to "her room".
She's been in jail for a while now and perhaps is already instutionalized.

Because of the intent of the sunshine law. IT's for the people to be able to 'see' what is going on. To keep things from being hidden from them. The SA isn't 'the people'. The media will be representing "the people's' right to know.

I bet anyone could take a lawyer in there and argue their right to see it. Officially done correctly, of course. I just expect that the Judge thinks only the media would send lawyers in to argue the point.

The point is there was nobody there to represent the people today, even after advance notice.

I expected the Judge to go ahead and rule today, one way or the other - just like he ruled that Baez could have his phone records for the people who didn't have an attorney present today to argue right to privacy.

Disguiseduser has a good theory, that the Judge is wanting someone to come forward so he gave more time. It looks bad to release the video with nothing but arguments by attorneys as to why it shouldn't be released. I hope someone comes forward for the people at the next hearing.

Cindy looks a bit tired.

GA and CA came in right around the time before Casey arrived. They meandered towards the prosecution side (said hello to someone) and then GA pointed to the defense side and they took a seat. When Casey came in Cindy involuntarily gasped, "I can't see her" and immediately started crying (this was done very softly). Cindy swapped her seat over one to her right and then tried to see Casey. It was truly sad.

But she DID receive medical treatment. She requested a tranquilizer and she got one.

Good point and oh how so important. If this were you, me, anyone else in America, we might get a tranquilizer in a week or so. And I'm not kidding. We'd have to do an I60 or whatever to request to see a doctor...then wait 3 days before they said they didn't receive it, and so on and so forth and things of that nature!!

Media gets 7 days to argue the release of the tapes?

Yes, and maybe even more days since many of the defense team are not available next week (according to what they said in court). The problem with the supplemental motion (as I understand it) was that it was not served on the media (who wanted the video released). All "parties" have to be noticed and if they are not given notice then they don't know about it and don't show up. Neither the Orlando Sentinel nor Opel (?) TV were present in Court.

She has a book about to be released. Can you imagine the timing of getting this international attention from the case coincidentally at the same time your book is released? I knew he was approaching various law professors and Florida DP lawyers, but this is priceless.

Wow, thanks for the info. Were you there? I didn't see that watching WFTV's live feed. I did think it was very telling and sad when it was over and George and Cindy stood there staring at KC, obviously waiting for her to look at them which she never did. They looked crushed.

Judge - need to give media a chance to be heard. Could arrange a 30 minute hearing

She's sat at least three times in in FL as DP lawyer

Judge - just need the normal motions & pro hac vice. No problems anticipated

Nope. At the time of Court there was no Motion filed regarding pro hac vice sent to the Clerk! Can you believe it? I think I could have typed one out in twenty minutes given the information. Cart before the horse type of thing...

Ummm...because everything is a comedy of errors? Non-noticed supplemental motions, no filed pro hac vice motions, no good faith basis stated for subpoena duces tecums, etc.

So true! In fact, I am surprised that the judge didn't just go ahead and grant the defendant's motion today to refuse public release. The SA said they had no problem with sealing it except that they were required by the Sunshine law to release it. Basically saying that all they needed was someone to either say release it or don't.

Since nobody was there to argue for releasing it, why did the judge continue the motion? I think the judge told Baez he could have the phone records he wanted for the people who didn't have an attorney arguing against it today.

Don't get me wrong- I'd really like to see the tape. I just don't understand why there wasn't a ruling today since the SA said they had no problem with it being sealed.

I agree insofar as the tape itself is concerned. We won't be seeing it unless it's used as evidence in the trial. Only if the media attorney can make a good case for its release, that is.

I think that the big problem here is that the tape has become a jumping-off point for the defense to publicize all sorts of other issues. In his original motion, Baez didn't really mention the tape specifically and wanted hearings on HOW the tapes came to be saved or edited. Then, in his last-minute motion, he throws out all sorts of accusations against OCSO and jail officials based on the depositions given by Richardson and Uncer (and Uncer's is incomplete right now). He's also going off about recording of meetings with counsel. He's insinuation that there is a big conspiracy plot out there to deny Casey her rights to privacy, rights to attorney-client privilege, yadda, yadda, yadda. At this point, the tape is the least of it!

I did not like hearing that Jessie was considered a suspect; it just sort of hung in the air.

No, I can't believe it. I shouldn't be surprised by Baez but really, why weren't these already submitted? Is he doing things like on purpose to play games or is he really this inept? Whichever it is I think Baez is very lucky to have Strickland as the judge because he seems to have an almost limitless amount of patience with Baez's antics.
