Muzikman - that is great, thank you so much.

Did you happen to notice the motion filed by prosecution on Oct 8
RESPONSE TO MOTION TO PRECLUDE THE DEATH PENALTY PROCEDURES

It was not released to media so far as I have seen.
Thanks.

Do you know what thread the original motion to Preclude the DP was being discussed in? Having trouble finding it. If you could find it and bump it, I'll add the response...

I don't think there is one. I was looking a few days ago and couldn't find it discussed anywhere.

MM, while you were gone, there was speculation you had been kidnapped...but we collectively decided to wait 31 days, go out clubbing, and get tattoos before we started looking for you.

lol....and then figured he may want to stay with the nanny! eh, nah...MM would have no fun with an imaginary nanny! even if she were an imaginary "10"...

I can not believe we are supposed to accept that they experts can not view and manipulate photos as needed due to the secure server issue. I am no expert but if they have access to log into the server, have the same program to view the photos as the server they are housed on. THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM. The only issue IMO, is that they are protected from download or saving and someone is probably *****ing about that. If this were in fact an issue, and JB was working diligently on this case, he would not have waited 8 months to address this. Perhaps the photos are on a disc and he doesn't have anyone that can upload them to his server since that would cost money. Perhaps he does not want other parties to have server access. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Yup, yup...because we all are "Sleuthers of the Year".

(We'd never let you be "lost" for too long, MM.)

MM - I bumped the AL thread -seems the dp talk was going on there.

If JS allows them to reproduce the photos of the remains mark my words they WILL be "leaked".

To be fair, there are many experts and attorneys in the legal field who prefer to work with hard copies versus an electronic form. There are so many fantastic legal software applications that can adequately handle discovery, in all forms. Unfortunately, JB's small firm size may not have the resources to make sure his experts can gain access to the material. But that's his problem not the States. Nor should it be a consequence to Caylee and her dignity (at least what's left of it).

They're talking about photos of the remains, which we haven't seen (because of Florida law regarding such photos). The judge told them they couldn't make copies, and downloading would constitute making copies.
Weren't they also worried that copies would get out as well? They didn't want anybody to leak the photos to the press (for money I assume) IIRC. Help someone, please remind me!

Yeah that was a concern that was brought about at the hearing regarding the photos and the secure server. If I recall this is also when JB was showboating about how the state was leaking information. I think the state raised the question about the photo's potentially being leaked for profits. Also if I recall I don't think JB seemed to pleased about having to use the secure server at the hearing either.

Ok, seriously, this is not a comment to just bash JB. Although it may seem like a dumb question, I am serious. Seeing this was JB and the defense's idea, shouldn't they either a. be intelligent enough to figure out how to view the photos or b. be responsible for hiring a computer consultant or someone who would be able to get their server to work for what they want?
My ex husband is a computer nerd techno geek and does this sort of thing for a living. So, I know there are people out there who can pretty much get a server/system to do just about anything you need these days. So, I'd think finding someone who can get the server to be able to view the photos, however they want, side by side, enlarged, decreased in size, etc. should be a piece of cake. And as was said here by some of the members, THEY know how to do it. So, why is this so hard for JB? Something doesn't smell right to me.

And they waited EIGHT months to ask for this????? Are they serious?????

They waited this long because the SA finally put their feet to the fire. The SA basically said "put up or shut up". This motion was an attempt to show an excuse why there are no expert reports to speak of from the defense.

Welcome back MM .... glad your trip went well.

Me thinks JB needs to get hi-speed internet and learn to use spellchecker. What a :croc: excuse JB uses. Totally lame. Waiting eight months to whine and cheese.

Snipped
Or he doesn't know how, Casey sure would, Don't these incompetents even know how to use spell check?? It is just mind boggling, their lack of basic knowledge. And their ? laziness? June 10th 2011?? too much

Why do I get the feeling it isn't the "experts" that would like to d/l
these images? Sorry, I don't trust JB for one second.
Thanks to MM for getting these motions.

Sorry Countzero, our minds & fingers were working simultaneously :woohoo:

I don't know, haven't checked either, if Orlando or the area JB has offices in has Verizon FIOS available. If they do, it is very easy to setup a VPN connection with FIOS. Heck, for a hefty fee, Verizon will come out and actually install and set it up with his computers and routers. Comcast, RR or any of the providers will, for a fee, set up a VPN for their customers.

Something tells me JB doesn't have an IT person who actually knows security working for him.

And as others have stated, this isn't the states problem; it is JB's. Just mind boggling.

ETA: Oh and JB if ya need to look at the photos side by side, do what I do ........ place two monitors next to each other. Easy solution.

If JB can't file their motions properly what makes him think he can keep these pictures from getting out. They want to look at them, go down to the SA's office and look at them. Problem solved.

Does this mean the experts don't know how to open two windows and resize them to look at pictures side by side?

I could show them how...

Yep, BeanE! We could:

1. Show them how to do it; and
2. Add circles around areas that look other things (like pixelated kitties).

They are all lightweights!

I just thought of a solution to this problem. Perhaps JB could call JT over at Techbay and enlist some assistance in this matter. Maybe he'd get a discount?? Sarcasm intended.
